How did this perform on FNM?

Thanks for the comments and +1's guys!

@Magic45

Last night was a draft, so I havn't been able to play Standard with this version of the deck yet.

Previous versions of the deck have performed very well, however.

I hope the DTK additions will be awesome to play with.

I love this, been all over it since Narset spoiled, +1'ed awhile ago. Just a couple of questions and suggestions.I'm not against Perilous Vault, but I don't see how a 1 of is viable to keep around since Ugin. Where's Encase in Ice? I feel like everyone running blue auto-added copies in the sideboard once spoiled, was wondering why not?

I really like Perilous Vault. Sure, with Ugin, the Spirit Dragon's -X, it is less necessary, but I still very much like having it. Exile-sweepers are powerful no matter what form they come in, and any card that can deal with a monstrous Fleecemane Lion is good in my books. I also like it's interaction with Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, in that I can use his -X and activate Perilous Vault in response to wipe the board of everything except my new creature.

Encase in Ice is something I havn't considered at all really, but I'll certainly take a look at it. It definitely has its uses, but I don't like that it can't deal with Goblin Rabblemaster.

Does Haven of the Spirit Dragon have a place in the deck?

March 30, 2015 9:58 p.m.

TheHroth says... #6

@tclaw12

I highly doubt Haven of the Spirit Dragon will be played here, unless I remove Radiant Fountain. The recurring is nice, but hardly ever necessary compared to the advantage the 2 life from Radiant Fountain provides. Perhaps if I add Ugin, the Spirit Dragon back into the deck, but without it and only 4 targets, I'd rather not play Haven of the Spirit Dragon.

What do you think about Myth Realized. I really want to play it in my deck, but I'm still not sure...

March 31, 2015 7:55 a.m.

TheHroth says... #8

The problem with Myth Realized is that it is an enchantment.

Even though Whip of Erebos decks are not seeing a huge amount of play anymore, the amount of enchantment hate is still huge in standard.

Dromoka's Command will be one of the most played cards, and if I decide to play Myth Realized, it becomes so much more useful against me, as it opens the potential for two more modes to become active, as opposed to just adding a +1/+1 counter to a creature.

With a ton of sideboard slots devoted to enchantment hate too, I just don't think Myth Realized is viable as a wincon. I would much rather play the hexproof wincons I play now, because being immune to removal is just way too good.

Alrigth, but can you look at my deck, Controlling the Fate of Tarkir, I really could use some help.

I'm going to run a version of Esper Control similar to yours. The main difference is tha I will use Reality Shift instead of Ultimate Price, because threats like Siege Rhino, Butcher of the Horde, Fleecemane Lion, and Rakshasa Deathdealer are not being affected by ultimate price. You can take a look at my deck if you like, any advice is welcome Esper Control: Khans of Tarkir (complete)

TheHroth says... #11

@kotsbright

The problem with Reality Shift is that is still leaves the opponent a 2/2 that you need to deal with. And that 2/2 could potentially become more than that. It's not a risk I'm willing to take. If multicoloured creatures are a big problem for you, try playing some number of Radiant Purge in your deck.

Screw your deck. Too much jank. :)

Sideboard: Silkwrap can deal with all the shiznits, like Goblin Rabblemaster and Courser of Kruphix. Prognostic Sphinx and/or Jorubai Murk Lurker. Since you're splashing white, Nyx-Fleece Ram. Y u no Bile Blight?

And yeah. You get an upvote for this.

April 1, 2015 8:46 p.m.

TheHroth says... #13

A) Silkwrap can't hit Prognostic Sphinx, it has a cmc of 5.

B) Silkwrap is an enchantment and there is too much enchantment hate for my liking in standard, especially because it opens the possibility of a 2-1 with an opponents Dromoka's Command, and I really don't like that.

Nyx-Fleece Ram is good but idk where to fit it in.

Bile Blight is good, but with playing Silumgar's Scorn my T2 mana requirements are too tight, so I can't play both. Also splashing white makes much much harder to get untapped on T2 when I want it to be.

Oh, I was saying to add the Sphinx and the Murklurker. But yeah, valid points.

April 1, 2015 9:19 p.m.

TheHroth says... #15

Prognostic Sphinx is nowhere near as good a wincon as what I have now, and Jorubai Murk Lurker is pretty bad.

Absolutely love it man! I also have a esper list on my profile highly based on shaheen's list. I believe this is the way to go! +1 for esper dragon control!

When I first started reading his article (linked in the latest update), I was a but sceptical of Silumgar's Scorn, but he explained all his choices so well I just couldn't deny that it was the way to go.

April 2, 2015 8:54 a.m.

Rob1nb says... #18

True! Had the same feeling! It's indeed a bit unreliable late game but at that time you'll probably have a dragon! And if your opponent decides to hold back their plays because of the possibility of a counterspell, you get so much ahead. Makes perfect sense! The card is very good

Nice deck with a solid sideboard!I tried to think of some card to fill gaps... but I don't see any lol. Nice counter spells and card set-up, some of the best removal in the meta... maybe Murderous Cut for a those used counter spells?

April 2, 2015 4:52 p.m.

TheHroth says... #20

Murderous Cut interferes too much with the grave. I want it full of fuel for my Dig Through Time. I've found Hero's Downfall, Ultimate Price, and Utter End to be more than adequate at getting the job done.

The only match where I wished I had Murderous Cut is against Abzan aggro, because Ultimate Price is just so bad there.

April 2, 2015 5:28 p.m.

How are you liking the 1 of Foul-Tongue Invocation in the main? Also, is not having more Ultimate Price early hindering you at all?

April 2, 2015 7:03 p.m.

TheHroth says... #22

The 1-of I've found quite nice. More often than not, it hits the same creature Ultimate Price would, and when it doesn't, its because I'm playing against Abzan aggro and killing a Rakshasa Deathdealer or Fleecemane Lion.

April 2, 2015 7:15 p.m.

You should use Silumgar Assassin for easy removal and a 3 power poker.Check my deck out Jund Dragonlords of Tarkir

April 4, 2015 10:32 a.m.

+1,nice deck :)

April 4, 2015 10:33 a.m.

TheHroth says... #25

Silumgar Assassin is just a much worse removal option than Ultimate Price or Hero's Downfall. They cost less mana overall.

I don't want to tap out on T3 to cast a morph, setting up my removal for the next turn.
