Totally fair. I tend to run Dragonlord's Prerogative in the sideboard because I don't see a lot of other Control decks locally.

There is a lot going on in this deck there are several combos that he has it might seem overpowered but think about when is the right time to use that card I've beaten a deck similar to this deck but this esper deck is set up to go against most decks with ease he did say that fast burn decks and fast mono red can get pretty scatchy

how many of your counters do you use up during your match ups most often?

June 15, 2015 4:49 p.m.

TheHroth says... #6

@Riensino

How many counters I use depends on how many I draw. I've played games where I use 0, and games where I use all 8. It simply depends on how long the game goes.

An average number would probably be like..2-3? I have no idea, I have never tracked the numbers.

TheHroth i just wanted to ask since i moved from 8 to 6 counters so just wanted to know a right balance.

I'd stay at 8 personally. That seems to be the sweet spot for drawing answers and drawing enough of them.

Is there by any chance you can explain your side board. Like what to take out and put in for the main like 5 decks out there?

Well my sideboard is designed for my meta, which is comprised of a couple Abzan players, several Atarka-Red players, a Sidisi-Whip player, and then just a bunch of new guys still catching on to things, playing random stuff like B/W Warriors.

I did make a similar deck to this but it didn't work out. But I've came back to it with the majority of the cards and I'm loving it now, the only thing I'm without is Thoughtseize which I just run 2 Duress.

@Gaskell

Because of the meta right now, and how important creatures are to winning, I'd prefer to run Despise over Duress.

Gaskell says... #13

Yeah I'm gonna run 2 Despise and run 2 Duress in the sideboard and side them in if I'm coming against a instant/sorcery heavy deck

When will this deck be updated for Origins?

July 17, 2015 3:33 p.m.

TheHroth says... #15

@dettbizzle

Soon. I need to acquire a couple more cards and do more testing.

I see quite a few unsettling changes to the deck, namely that of Ugin. One Ugin is plenty with the Havens being present; the DTT's will find them for you. Having a spare in the sideboard is excessive considering the mana cost of the card.

Any explanations on your thought process?

great deck. I had to upvote, even though I hate this match up. Not sure if its been suggested but Opulent Palace is a great card for this deck. Allows you to activate Fleecemane Lion monstrosity ability and Rakshasa Deathdealer ability when taking them with Dragonlord Silumgar

TheHroth says... #18

Opulent Palace is a cool idea, but I'd have to take out the lands I have now to fit it in. I can't afford to take out any of my untapped lands, because then I have too many tap lands, and I can't take out any scry lands, because I need the filtering, due to not playing Dissolve. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

@ TheHroth I think I have some cards that may help the list is long and I'll get to the list today for u since my deck is almost the same as this

I found the number of tap lands a little slow but other then that seemed great, up vote from me

Perhaps 12 scry lands is a bit much, with the meta speeding up in general, but it has been working fine for me so far, so I think it is fine.

Hello,

Nice deck. I would normally agree with having 12 out of 27 scry lands, but then you also have 3 colorless lands in the mix. So, I would suggest:

- -1 Temple of Enlightenment
- -1 Temple of Silence
- +2 Island or +1 Flooded Strand & +1 Plains

The meta is definitely speeding up, and having access to untapped mana early can help control decks remain relevant in the format.

I have taken a different approach, can you please review & provide feedback on my dragonless UB control deck:

APPRECIATED!!

I had been thinking about Flooded Strand and a Plains for a while, and I ran them at FNM last night and it was pretty good, so I think I'll make the change permanent.

I've also been losing more and more interest in Anticipate. I know it is good, but I love just drawing straight cards, so I think Jace's Ingenuity is the thing I need.

I think you need at least 3 Foul-Tongue Invocation in this deck. It gains you life, good against other control dragon decks, and every single deck that is mainly green will have Gaea's Revenge in their sideboard, which crushes this deck if you don't have Foul-Tongue Invocation

TheHroth says... #25

Good point about Gaea's Revenge. I think I'll add Foul-Tongue Invocation again.
