Valorous Stance does not help against Gaea's Revenge, unless you were implying making Dragonlord Ojutai indestructible while blocking.

I'm running a similar deck and I'm having very difficult times against Aggro decks (And I think it will get worse after the results of PT Vancouver). So, how you're planning to deal with them?

For now, extra copies of Drown in Sorrow, and maybe add Arashin Cleric to the SB.

Finally got my binder a bit updated for everyone to see don't really have alot of rare cards but have some
August 5, 2015 1:50 p.m.
Nice idea TheHroth! Maybe Ojutai's Command could be another addition, It works very well with Arashin Cleric.
August 5, 2015 3:40 p.m.
Ojutai's Command may be worth it, and it may not...
Mode 1 is only an option if Arashin Cleric is already in the grave. One block with it is sufficient for that, but it is still reliant upon it dying. Plus I need to draw it in the first place.
Mode 2 is always good I suppose, against the decks I'd be siding it in against at least, which are the aggro decks - the same ones Arashin Cleric goes in against.
Mode 3 is pretty terrible against the red aggro decks...a 4cmc counterspell for their creature that guaranteed cost less than that is an iffy play, even if I do get a bonus from it. Slightly more worthwhile against Abzan aggro, because Siege Rhino at least costs the same mana as it.
Mode 4 is always nice, but really, one cantripping possibility is not enough to make me really want this card over another copy of Arashin Cleric even. Ojutai's Command just costs too much to be good against a red deck without a Cleric in the yard. I'm not sure its worth running just for that possibility.

Narset Transcendent is a great card, and helps a lot when she comes up, but I've been thinking a lot about Sorin, Solemn Visitor lately. I'm pretty sure I have enough creatures to make his +1 worth it, and his vampire token can still win the game if left unchallenged.
What are everyone's thoughts on this?
August 9, 2015 6:09 p.m.
I think in order to justify sorin you have to be running the creatureless to 1 creature control deck, with 2-3 elspeth.
August 9, 2015 8:36 p.m.
Why do you think that? Just because it's the only build that has really been played before? That was before DTK's release, and now Dragonlord Ojutai is a thing. I think this build could work really well.

i think sorin would be a good add. his plus one is good, his tokens can be a pain in the ass, and his ult is really good once you've gotten to the point where you have control of the game and your opponent is desperately trying to cling to the board with a creature. plus it will help if they side Gaea's Revenge on you, which i am predicting will be a thing
August 10, 2015 4:32 p.m.
Gaea's Revenge already is a thing, lol. It is the reason I added more Foul-Tongue Invocation again.

I think Sorin would be good here. Even with just Dragonlord Ojutai on the board, you still get a lot of value.
I'm trying something new out. That Grixis deck was a success, just wanted to try some of the new stuff in origins. I'm working on abusing Talent of the Telepath. Figured you might be interested It takes a lot of talent to orchestrate a battle

Love this deck, been trying decide which way I wanted to go with control, i think this is it.

I feel like sorin isn't amazing with Searing Blood being so prominent. when you -2 him they can 2 for 1 you by killing the token and redirecting the damage to sorin. You're only running 1 of him, but it still makes Searing Blood an okay card in this matchup where as otherwise it's only good against jace decks. On the other hand, the lifelink is so good against red decks that you wouldn't be siding him out. Granted, the red decks are siding out their Searing Bloods, but I still feel like he's not a great fit in the mainboard.
P.S. I'm not playing the mono-red burn. I went 1-3 and 2-2 at game day with mono-red. Then switched to atarka red and went 3-1 at FNM. Won 2 Serum Visions :) I was very disappointed with the mono-red deck that everybody else is doing amazing with. I'm going to continue testing it back home, but I'm not liking it.

trading Searing Blood for sorin + token is only a one-for-one. the token doesn't count as a card, it's just a sorin activation. so they're trading a use of sorin and soring for a searing blood.

What do you predict for this deck after rotation? Btw awesome deck! +1
August 20, 2015 8:24 a.m.
plus im perfectly happy not taking the 3 points to the face. If sorin has to bite the dust to stop me from taking 3 that makes him worth it already but the fact that in other matchups you can steal something stupid with dragonlord silumgar and then plus sorin makes it really broken. Also ojutai makes this deck shine by giving you card selection. I have a buddy that is trying to make esper control the only problem is lack of access to said dragonlords. This deck is fun and I had a lot of fun playtesting it. Maybe have a crux in your board just in case you face off against abzan or even a mirror of esper dragons where languish loses a lot of value. It doesn't fight rhino's tasigur's polukranos, either silumgar, or even atarka so im just saying as a sb option maybe a crux to deal with those pesky creatures
August 20, 2015 8:24 a.m.
Putting a Crux of Fate back in may not be a bad idea. x/5 creatures have, shockingly, not shown to be too much of an issue though. An attack with Silumgar, the Drifting Death's trigger plus Languish dispatches them nicely. Anything bigger is annoying though, obviously. Spot removal helps get rid of anything Languish misses, too.

Looks good, I've been playing Slow's Grixis dragons, but debating on going esper or even trying to splash white and go 4 color. +1
