Have you seen the fate reforged spoiler ''crux of fate'' hroth? Looks like wizards of the coast really wants to kill esper by letting black have a good wrath. Unless they make a non blue ''impossible to kill creature'', my guess is that they want sultai to take over the control scene. And even then, non blue don't have card draw...

A G/U functional reprint of sphinx's revelation would totally comfirm that. Green do have life gain to them and blue card draw. :)

@EssTea

Yes I have. It looks amazing. I will want to run 1-2 in here I think. Perhaps 2/2/2 between it, End Hostilities, and Perilous Vault. I'd be up 1 wrath from where I am now.

Pearl Lake Ancient will definitely become based control's best wincon. Prognostic Sphinx is still amazing, but just way too slow.

Omg lol as great as that would be, I can't see it happening.

I dont like PLA at all. Whenever i would bounce him back I would have to discard precious endgame cards. He's pretty much unplayable before 10 land for the flashback. PS is slower to win, but helps stabilize wayyy faster. I really hope they make an awesome win con :)

Deforestation

3/G/U/B

Sacrifice a land, draw cards equal to the number of your island mana and gain life equal to your green mana.

I feel like the pink is overwhelming my eyes. Maybe try white or blue?...

@Mortem

Is this better?

@EssTea

That seems like a good card! The wording of it definitely needs work though.

Why have in the casting cost if you don't get a benefit for it? How about target opponent loses x life?

November 26, 2014 12:28 a.m.

EssTea says... #15

Well its for the sacrifice part, and also making it sultai. I could add opponent loses life equal to your swamp mana sources but then the card would be pretty much broken :P

Sorin, Solemn Visitor may be the solution to the aggro matchup. He gains life like nothing else, especially if I play Elspeth, Sun's Champion too.

I love the deck. I have one on my profile similar to it if you want to check it out. +1

How does ashiok work best vs mirror matchup?

November 30, 2014 7:06 p.m.

The only thing I would say is more Utter End. It is so versatile. It will take care of Whip of Erebos which has been running around. Also if your plansewalker is Banishing Lighted, you basically recast it for 4. It is also just a straight up great removal spell as it takes care of gods and creature too.

@Magic45

Hitting Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver on T3-T4 in the mirror will slowly kill them. It is too early for them to use Dissolve (provided you are on the play), and it dodges Disdainful Stroke.

Assuming he sticks, you can then protect him for the rest of the game. He will +2 over and over again, removing their deck from the game, then occasionally ult and wreck their whole hand. This advantage is insane, as they are reduced to nothing while you still have a full hand.

@rocklobsterfinn

What would you suggest taking out to fit it in?

November 30, 2014 7:13 p.m.

Maybe one sorin and one tresure cruise

Have you considered Drown in Sorrow in the mainboard against Aggro? Almost every deck in the format suffers from the card. But thats a meta choice.

November 30, 2014 8:34 p.m.

TheHroth says... #23

My LGS is loaded with Abzan where Drown in Sorrow does next to nothing. There are a few Boss Sligh players, and Jeskai, among other forms of aggro which is obviously where I side them in.

A lot of Temur and G/R monsters too, but having Drown main isn't great against them either. It only wipes their dorks (which can be good but generally they're Sylvan Caryatid's DX).

Hey Hroth, I'm making switches to my deck (2 free spots) and I was looking at other control decks for inspiration. Since my deck is pretty much pure control I was considering adding one or two more draw cards cards. I see that you're running Treasure Cruise in addition to 4 Dig Through Time. How has that been for you? Why not Jace's Ingenuity? In terms of probabilities don't you think running 5 high cost delve cards a bit high risk? Drawing 2 of them wouldn't be good at all, however drawing both DTT and Jace's Ingenuity still lets you play them back to back. Finally, Ingenuity is an instant and can be casted safely on the opponent's end turn, TC can only be casted safely at 11 mana or when you're 100% sure you've stabilized, and still there it's a gamble.

@EssTea

Good point on Treasure Cruise. I added over Jace's Ingenuity mostly to try it. A friend of mine is running U/B Control, and he is running what I think to be a full set of each. I'll need to confirm with him, but it is definitely more than 5 high cost delve cards.

I totally understand your point, but judging by his results with the deck, I'm led to believe that that many delve is worse in theory than it is in practice.

I love instant speed draw though. Maybe I'll swap it out again, especially if I find myself playing Treasure Cruise for approx 5 mana a lot.
