The problem with protection as a way to avoid blockers is that blockers might be colorless, or you might face 2 or 3 colours, which is not unusual, plus it's a one time only, I've been testing your deck against mine

I've also got out of steam a lot, I usually got my entire hand out in the first few turns, and since I didn't had a reliable way to continuously pull lands I've got stuck with whatever I had in the field at that moment.

Ixidron, the tricky part is piloting. a lot of decks kylothian makes are decks you can't just pick up and play. Without ferocious research and prior playtesting, you might only operate the deck at 60% capacity. Took me a while, but after many moons of trial and error I understand how this deck works and 'when' to cast things and put lands down and even then I can't do it like he does.
I do agree his deck is sensitive to removal, but as is any deck. If you get all yoru crap removed your screwed no matter the deck unless your whole deck runs off of instants and sorcery (nonpermanents.)
Good testing would be to battle him himself. I learned that about my decks as people would play them on their own and point out these issues, but then I combat them on untap or cockatrice and its an eye opener for them when I operate it in a very unusual way and win. I would expect similar things from kyloth and his deck.
the problem with decks like these is they are so unique that only the creator can handle them with any proficiency, and even they themselves are learning more about their own deck as they play it (me and kyloth play a bit and its hilarious cause we are literally learning his deck on the spot.)

kylothian: you got rid of Slayers' Stronghold? not working out for you?
I think Kessig Wolf Run would be great cause I scapeshift and shot often and have Lotus Cobra crank out =/-10 mana. I had reliquarys so a kessig woul dbe nice to consume all that mana and give trample. Its also something that if you burn out you can keep powering up your twerps with trample and more power.

I'm certainly not saying that you should run valacut. All I will say is that scapeshift is a broken card in control decks because of valacut. However if you don't feel like playing temur scapeshift and want to play combo scapeshift or whatever then more power to you. A turn 3 win is respectable and I think that the scapeshift/lotus cobra combo is very good but this is not very consistent because you can be interacted with easily and you don't see as many cards as the control decks.
Also your turn 3 win requires a 1x card to be drawn in the first 3 turns. That doesn't happen often.
If you want to go for a straight combo deck then I think you should make it harder to interact with. Fling seems perfect as it sacs the creature as part of the cost so they can't exile it or destroy it in response.
To make the deck as competitive as I can right now (without adding valacut) I would do the following:
1 Drop the black for red, You loose Ob Nixilis, the Fallen gain Fling, Volcanic Geyser Atarka's Command Plated Geopede
2 Play Life and Limb and a load of stuff that makes saprolings. Ulasht, the Hate Seed Fists of Ironwood Fungal Sprouting Scatter the Seeds whatever
3 play 4x Baru, Fist of Krosa
4 play 4x Vitaspore Thallid
5 play Seer's Sundial

i think Seer's Sundial is exactly what this deck needs. having another 4 copies of Steppe Lynx is a great idea. dropping black is a good idea, since the only black cards you're dropping is obnix, and decay, which are 5 cards. then you get to play cheaper creatures that can serve as wincons as well. having Plated Geopede on the field will make your opponent hesistate on attacking you, since they won't know how many lands you can bring in at instant speed, or they do it, and you block and pump him and take a free creature. definitely a good addition!

I just liked the idea of making a card draw/mana engine using saprolings and then using fling or volcanic geyser to win.

Yeah, I think that'd be changing the deck a bit too much. That'd be a great idea for another deck!

Maybe... The deck would still play scapeshift though.
May 10, 2015 11:52 a.m.
Hmm, I aint too sure about Plated Geopede. He comes out turn 2 and so it will be competing for space with Lotus Cobra and other two costs that promote growth. The growth then wouldn't grow into anything if you remove obby. Obby also is just a beautiful sniper piece, I highly suggest keeping him in there. Maybe (maybe) reduce to one and have an alternate wincon or something that allows extreme draw like Seer's Sundial.
I still think Kessig Wolf Run would be great xD, or an x cost burn like Aurelia's Fury.

crud, turn 2 win with a couple turn 3 wins..... :P impressive
May 12, 2015 5:37 p.m.
Right!! lol and I wasn't even trying to design it for early wins:P
May 12, 2015 6:05 p.m.
This looks really awesome! It also looks like a good shell for Avenger of Zendikar. How does it fare?
May 12, 2015 8:26 p.m.
Interesting idea, its a bit steep on mana cost. One might as well play Liege of the Tangle maybe, the otehr green beasty allows assured critters and can provide landfall for instant power boosts...interesting. I also might suggest Emeria Angel instead cause those dudes are flying critters and and its a much lower cost.
May 12, 2015 8:38 p.m.
well i want my damage inflicting sources to be relatively immediate in inflicting damage and on early turns. Any token producing land fall creatures have to deal with token summoning sickness which is just a turn slower as opposed to ob nix or a gear. the only thing in there that needs to wait a turn is lynx but he can come out turn one so he doesn't worry me to much on that front. But yea avenger is a good card just not fast enough for my deck. Liege of the Tangle lol good memories I had a deck with him as win con once. then somebody board wiped the field sad day that day.
May 12, 2015 9:56 p.m.
agreed, the creatures need to not lag behind and actually do dmg or something awsome upon entry. obby is a prime exampple of a perfect high cost creature. If I wanted tokens, I would do Emeria Angel. I like that thing.

As you end up sacrificing many lands, Knight of the Reliquary could be good
May 18, 2015 8:19 a.m.
funny, me and kyloth just debated removing knight. Knight unfortunatly seems a bit slow, although I would always consider keeping him an option like maybe a sideboard....
May 18, 2015 1:15 p.m.
yah that would be good.
I was thinking, maybe Crimson Wisps? I am actually considering it heavily for a couple of my test decks cause it's like an extra turn and card draw to replace itself. I love this card for creature heavy decks.
May 18, 2015 7:07 p.m.
Yeah I've also seen that card and seriously considered it. kinda like i have with Safe Haven which I'm finally running and by the way freaking loving it i think you should run it its major card advantage. I mean it's better in mine because i can retrieve it from the grave. But it is really good for any enter the battle field ability and just saving stuff from removal you should definitely use it in your lando deck. I'm also thinking of making a deck centered around enter the battle field abilities there is a lot of stuff that you could seriously abuse entering abilities. and blah rant
Oh yeah back to card yes i like it i should probably run it in a deck it might just be amazing.

Sorry to tell you but the background is for profile pages only. Femme_Fatale told me on my deck :(
May 26, 2015 5:19 p.m.
I got to be honest, the page is kind of giving me a headache. The font is a little too bright for me. And the background is just distracting at the same time it's giving me a headache.
Just to let you know

Frimbleglim thanks for the suggestion. I agree my wincon is very vulnerable. Are you saying I should put the valakut combo back into the deck?If so I've been thinking about that and Prismatic Omen is rather vulnerable on the board as well not as much as my creatures, but still I was thinking maybe use something like Mind Bend on Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth? It's a little harder for the opponent to interact with, but also a little harder to get out.
And I like the sac outlet idea as well.
Ixidron I like the dauntless escort.
The token weakness you mentioned or being blocked I've never really seemed to have an issue with. I usually get access to a Sejiri Steppe through kotr ,scapeshift, or just drawing a steppe or i draw obnix and kill them through that outlet. So I have twelve cards in the deck that can get my damage through creature lines which is over a sixth of the deck. I used to have Rogue's Passage in there ,but took it out because I never used it.
And the running out of steam I also haven't had too much of an issue with especially since adding crucible , oboro and azusa. The way i pilot the deck i usually store l-fall up through out the game and then release the amount that i need when i know my outlets will directly hit the opponent. I never try to bull doze my way through an opponent's lines.
I definitely agree with you though that it has a vulnerability to mass removal and i think dauntless escort or ready/willing could be a good fix. I really wish dauntless was a 2/4 so it it'd be out of bolt range, but oh well. lol
