Recurring Nightmare is banned.

How about something like Necropotence or Greed to make sure you don't get the highest life total. Lich would be cool if you can find one.

You're welcome.

If you need ideas for etb-based grixis cards, check out my deck A Day in the Death.

If you want ideas on ways to lower your own life total, check out Sygg's Suicide Solution.

+1 from me.

Zealous Conscripts allows you to steal a creature permanently if you have the means to sacrifice a creature.

Necropolis Regent is pretty sick here since it puts counters on ALL your creatures.

Deathbringer Thoctar has a home here as well as Taurean Mauler .

Curse of Stalked Prey can be great, and more sacrifice cards like Innocent Blood and Barter in Blood are solid additions.

You also aren't running much in the way of Mana Accelerators. Perhaps consider cards like Izzet Signet and Rakdos Signet and other rocks like Thran Dynamo

Persist actually works quite well (think Glen Elendra Archmage ) because the counters negate each other. Also, I might be tempted to chuck in a bit more undying, and if you are still stuck for ideas I have

Seems like a cool deck.

I'm thinking about making one with this commander myself.

How about Cauldron Dance in here? You could get a big benefit out of it with this commander.

MartialArt how's that?

You just need a creature with undying, or unleash in your hand, or a creature that comes into play with counters.

You simply reanimate any one creature in your graveyard and get it back into you hand at the end of turn.

The creature with unleash or counters will stay because of you commander, or the creature with undying will come back and directly get the counter to be protected by your commander.

Sounds pretty good to me.

I hope this helped.

I made a version myself:

We will never die

Maybe we can trade some ideas.

I'd replace Mindlock Orb with Stranglehold . Stranglehold only hits other players and also stops extra turns, possibly shutting down some combos.

Someone said here that -1/-1 and +1/+1 counters negate each other - that is simply not true, so be aware of it :)

May 27, 2014 8:12 a.m.

MartialArt says... #12

@ jorjo10: It is indeed true. A creature with undying and persist gets a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1 counter wich results in having no counters. This has already been discussed in the forum and is a basic abuse included in Mikaeus, the Unhallowed commanders.

MartialArt says... #13

It can be found here:

"If a creature ever has +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters on it, the two kinds of counters immediately "cancel out," one for one, until only one kind of counter remains."

Oh, nice. Some time ago when I was starting with magic an experienced player told me that both of those counters remain. I was a little confused about it but I believed him. It is nice to know how it really works. Thanks :)

I saw this silly combo deck that used Balthor the Defiled and Flayer of the Hatebound ...considering you already have half the combo...

It would be functional by itself, exile one dude to reanimate a bunch of creatures...

Schuesseled says... #16

Maybe, maybe not. Living Death does the same thing, and it's a tad more useful overall.

Just delved into my forbidden bank to acquire a Damnation for this deck. Mostly for the art work.

Thanks for the suggestion MindAblaze!

May 27, 2014 8:36 p.m.

Schuesseled says... #19

actually now that I've thought about it, it wouldn't work at all with Flayer of the Hatebound due to the fact his undying wouldn't resolve until after all the dudes had returned from the graveyard. So nothing would trigger. But this does work with Warstorm Surge so there's that.

May 27, 2014 8:41 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #20

I'm not sure I follow.

Flayer triggers when creatures enter the battlefield from the graveyard, so all it requires is creatures coming in, which Balthor takes care of. Warstorm Surge does that also.

May 27, 2014 9:03 p.m.

Schuesseled says... #21

I was saying Living Death brings creatures in, same as Balthor. But it also removes flayer so it wouldn't work, but does with warstorm surge.

Anyway.

Harness by Force and a sac outlet will let you take all of the creatures.

June 5, 2014 8:23 a.m.

Schuesseled says... #24

@WreckedHim Insurrection will do the same, at probably a vastly less expensive cost. Harness by Force requires 3 mana to be paid for each additional target.

Definitely going to add another suggest for Mikaeus, the Unhallowed . The synergy with Marchesa is simply evil!
