I don't disagree with you. But you also have to consider how fun your deck is to play.
When I go infinite with Black Mike and Triskelion
it's impressive...the first time...when I blow up all your shit with him and Woodfall Primus
it's entertaining...once. When I use Deathbringer Thoctar
and a sac engine to machine gun everybody to death...it's neat...one time.
After that it becomes a race to exile Mikaeus, the Unhallowed first before he can wreak havoc on the board state.

That's very true. But that's why you need to have more than a few tricks up your sleeve, in my opinion.
Protect him from your opponents with Whispersilk Cloak or Swiftfoot Boots , something of that effect. Counter their spells that exile him. Just totally tell your opponent "No. Mikey stays." and then cock a smile.

I just feel like he takes the fun out of the game. He's too easy to abuse...but you can't deny the synergy with Marchesa.

It really depends what you want to do with the deck. If Wombo Mike Combo is a thing you wanna do, then egh, it gets predictable. I run him in my ETB deck, not for any combos but because of how strong he is. Yosei, the Morning Star is bad enough once a turn, but twice?
Also, that reminds me; Kokusho, the Evening Star would be awesome in here. Even if it brings you out of dethrone territory, the amount of advantage he creates even in three player games is insane.

As it happens i just got a "black mike" for the deck, along with some new lands and Olivia Voldaren , marz1234
@MindAblaze!, Lhurgyof. I'm not a fan of abusing infinite combos in edh, I'm not opposed to having them for utility but i rather win on strength of combos. Marchesa and mikaeus protect each other from the perils of the multiverse. And i like that. Kusho is cool, but I want to avoid too much life gain here as Rain of Gore can make that awkward.

I highly recommend you Tezzeret's Gambit . It is a perfect card for a Marchesa deck. It starts with its CMC - it can be paid with life, so there is a possibility to keep Dethrone active. Then it draws 2 cards and then it proliferate, which is also cool, isn't it?

I only ever need one counter on a permanent. Now you are just getting greedy! :P Additionally draw two for three isn't that impressive.
June 11, 2014 10:21 p.m.
In my opinion, (and this is coming from someone who find most draw cards useless, as I tend to play casual games) two draw for 3 mana is really good. Consider the fact that you will have 2 more cards to choose from, suddenly. You could just tap your Gilded Lotus to pay for it and still play the cards you just drew. Card advantage is always nice.

If you're into stealing the opponent's creatures, you might try out Bazaar Trader . It's not directly obvious, but if you look close at the text, it says "target player", so you can gain complete control over something you grabbed with, say Mark of Mutiny , Cytoplast Manipulator , Olivia Voldaren , etc.
I actually made a deck in Grixis colors that is all about stealing what is the opponent's and then sacing the hell out of their stuff. You might take a look:

Schuesseled: Well, 2 cards for 3 mana is quite good. Having the possibility to gain at least something more might be in some situations the thing that will decide the game. But the perfect thing is that the 3 in its CMC are colorless, which means it is great for a 3 colored deck. And yes, I know that 1 counter is enough.. But, in my opinion, when you have 4 creatures with counters, it is quite a difference it they suddenly have one more. And since you may add even -1/-1 counters, if there are some already, on your opponent's creatures and also you may add counters on walkers.. Well, I think that this card is great for its cost. But hey, it is your deck :)

@jorjo10 Alright, alright, so it's good. But I prefer Minds Aglow in the spot, I pay 1, and my opponents tap out so I can draw 10 cards, thanks guys.... Group hug everyone, come on, get in here.
@marz1342 I'll take a look, Bazaar Trader would be good for permanently stealing cards, but my commander does the same thing. All I need to do is get control of them, get a counter on them, then sacrifice them. So all I need is my commander and a sac outlet, or sometimes just my commander.
@MindAblaze! That my other take control of target blah spells are a little better. Word of Seizing can grab any permanent, and can't be responded to. Slave of Bolas has a sacrifice trigger built in to the grab. Spinal Embrace can gain me life as well. Insurrection grabs everything. There's nothing inherently wrong with Mark of Mutiny the others are just a bit better.

I am surprised that you don't run Goblin Sharpshooter since you are playing a reckless deck. May as well get something for throwing droves of creatures at the enemy and saccing things left and right.

@Schuesseled EDH is all about repetition. Having ONE card that does something in a 100 card deck doesn't really help unless you are lucky. It is why people run multiple cards that do the same thing.

I also have Stalking Vengeance and Flayer of the Hatebound for damage triggering from death.
In this deck you really want as many different effects as possible to trigger off of death, but Goblin Sharpshooter is a very unimpressive 1/1 that can't do anything the turn he comes in. I really don't want to give my opponents a whole turn each to disrupt my combo power. All the other direct damage dudes get to start dealing damage right away.

Great deck (+1), I can tell you and I have very similar play styles. I would like to offer you the same courtesy you offered me and give a few suggestions.
Goblin Bombardment : better sac outlet than bloodthrone vamp in my opinion.
Blood Artist : baby is a workhorse for 2 mana, has great synergy.
Geralf's Messenger : sacs twice per turn thats 4 damage in addition to other synergy.
Gray Merchant of Asphodel : like having a second kokusho.
Harvester of Souls : will draw you more cards than Sphinx of Magosi.
Molten Primordial : it has haste so you can steal a creature from each opponent every turn w/out graft, with graft your opponents will scoop.
Nevermaker : a 2nd Venser.
Purphoros, God of the Forge : either a 2nd Warstorm or a cheaper one.
Triskelion : 2 damage every end step or infinite with Mikaeus.
Some cards I would like your opinion on: Deathbringer Thoctar , Keiga, the Tide Star , Olivia Voldaren , and Thraximundar .
Final question, Did you have to sell your whole soul for a copy of Sneak Attack ?

Literally just bought it on eBay a second ago, not a bad price but not cheap either.
I can see your point about Goblin Bombardment but it's harder to protect, if someone blows it up I would be sad.
I had Molten Primordial and Harvester of Souls in the deck, but I found myself not wanting to cast them, they are both really expensive and don't do as much as I would want.
Triskelion is really good with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed if you like infinite combo wins, not really my cup of tea.
All the others would be good, but I don't think they are better than what I already have.
Deathbringer Thoctar Gets really big, really quick. Makes a ugly blocker and his activated ability can act as removal or burn if anyone gets on your wrong side. It looks threatening and that's it's main purpose. (It can only attack once a turn, doesn't have evasion or trample, so it's not really a threat until you try to kill it and suddenly take 15 to the face.)
Keiga, the Tide Star ; If they don't kill it they have to face a 5/5 flyer swinging away at them, and they can't block it with anything big enough to kill it because then they lose their best creature. With marchesa, it continuously gets bigger and eventually could steal their entire field. The fact that the effect is permanent means you don't have to try and set up any clever tricks to keep the things you want. Which can certainly be helpful.
Olivia Voldaren is a flyer that you can make bigger every turn if you want to, and you can also steal opponent's creatures if you want to. It allows you to leave mana open for counterspells/removal and still have somewhere to dump it if your opponent plays nothing interesting. If you like this but don't like Olivia, you could try Vedalken Orrery / Leyline of Anticipation for a similar effect. (I'm tempted to put one or both in my deck, but i'm at a loss to what I would take out, or if I even need to.)
Thraximundar - Over everything else this guy is a must. It puts +1/+1 counters on itself, makes opponent's lose creatures, has haste. It's a great investment for 7 mana. I managed to get a copy (retail, mint) for 1 pound. (Under two dollars. I have no idea why that shop had him priced so low, everywhere else was 10+)

Great deck (upvote)
I would suggest Dualcaster Mage I can see this deck abusing him with Marchesa, the Black Rose being able to reanimate him,
Mana Vault this card can is excellent for mana acceleration.
Arcane Lighthouse can stop some voltron commanders.
But Nice deck overall.

I'm just going to put it out there...I feel bad when I play Mikaeus, the Unhallowed . Busted combo card is busted...especially in here.
