DeeLight, and bah-bammmm, I have a budget modern deck (Infinity Budget) that seems to do well, so maybe the whole raising price thing isn't necessarily necessary.

I doubt your $20 modern deck has ever won a tournament.

Epochalyptik could atest to this. He's won tournements with cheap decks.

I've won games with cheap decks. I don't enter those same decks into tournaments. I enter my $3.6k combo control deck into tournaments.

Boasts a T3 win, as well as a price of $39.99. The name references West Point, if you wanted to know. Unfortunately, I have not actually bought the deck but have encountered multiple T3 wins whilst in playtesting, and countless other T4 wins (even with blockers). This deck is what inspired me to create my Bogles deck which I am a proud owner of, as I saw the similarities between them and instantly loved it.

Thank you for your consideration.

Point is, none of those decks are tournament material

Well, there are more reasons to play a game than for tournaments, bah-bammmm.
For those of you who don't know, I'm active duty military.

I, and the people I (mostly) play with, don't play Magic to win some big tournament, or see our picture drawn on a token card for Star City Games.
We play for fun, and to enjoy the game. For many of us, Pauper is too limiting, you don't get the big fun cards. But for most of us, spending more than $100 on a deck, of any format, is just asking too much of us from a hobby. (or we have another, more expensive hobby, may the Divine Emperor take mercy on us for our heresy...)

I don't think we're alone in this, so The Cheap Deck Club. gives us a chance to see fun decks, in many formats, that we can realistically buy.

Are any of them going to beat a $3,600+ deck on any day of the week?
Probably not.

Are we going to have fun playing our not-quite-tournament winning decks against each other?
Damn right we are.

Let some other page cater to those who want to build a deck to win at any cost. I'm sure there's dozens of them. Let this page give something to the rest of the community that wants to crack open a beer, make some jokes, and watch your friend's goblin deck self-implode.

That's my twenty-two cents.

Hey Atony1400, I've been having my friend play the Allies deck I have made, and his FNM record is sitting at 14-6 in games currently over the past few weeks. He has yet to win, unfortunately, as I stomped him in the finals last week.

Thanks MTGsoccer13 and TheHroth. I'll update the page and submit the deck for you!

Surge of Pain would be a suggestion. Just got back from an FNM, 2-1-1 against a Mono-Blue Eldrazi brew (2-0), Moist Abzan (2-1), G/W Scales (1-1, timed out), and Atarka Tokens (1-2) won game one with a clutch Silumgar's Command, then lost to aggressive mulligans from the opposing pilot. You can look at the deck yourself (obviously), but the price is $32 for the maindeck. I haven't added the sideboard that I used yet, but it's no more than $15.

Atony1400 says... #12

Thanks, Midexin for the suggestion! Also would like to say that there's no $ limit on your side, just a total limit of $50/$65 cap.

March 4, 2016 11:27 p.m.

Midexin says... #13

Awesome. I'll put it in so you can see the final cost :D

Atony1400 says... #14

Great! Thanks, Midexin! Just wanted to let you know that's it's been submitted. I would love to give you an estimated time until it will be voted on (its on que right now), but we're a little backed up.

March 4, 2016 11:34 p.m.

Midexin says... #15

Haha that's fine. Btw, I fixed a main/sideboard mistake (mis-listed some cards in the wrong place) and actually added the sideboard. $43 updated total.

March 4, 2016 11:36 p.m.

Atony1400 says... #16

Thanks, what place did you get at your fNM?

March 4, 2016 11:44 p.m.

Midexin says... #17

With that 2-1-1, only 6th. The Atarka tokens I lost to went 4-0, but I was lucky I timed out with the G/W scales matchup, otherwise I would have done way worse because I would have been put below all the 2-2s.

Nice!

March 5, 2016 12:28 a.m.

Midexin says... #19

Yeah, the reason I posted was because that was against decks over 4x its price (Atarka Tokens near stock list, same for the Moist Abzan and G/W Scales)

Atony1400 I had an entry (of a deck for the club) back on the orevious comments page, it got wiped maybe an hour after I posted it, and received no response, could you check it out?

Thanks

Oh yes, sorry about that, Bovine073. Last I knew, I sent it to the committee for reviewing.

Midexin, ah, I see. I was happy when I beat my friends deck with my Jeskai Tokens brew (he threw down almost $400 for his, and I traded pack rares for mine)

A cheap and consistent creature based deck with many cards with 'Renown' such as Topan Freeblade + War Oracle .

The deck has 16 Plains giving a 16/61 chance to draw a plains while cards like Dragon Hunter + Mardu Hateblade each only cost .

The deck allows up to five token creatures due to Mardu Hordechief + Triplicate Spirits + Wingmate Roc .

2 Pacifism and Oppressive Rays hold back even the toughest opponents while you use 3 Siegecraft to boost your defenses and get ready to attack.

Many cards such as Lightwalker + Seeker of the Way .
