They don't realize that 2/3 their playerbase is kitchen table, including me.

I'm hoping Relentless Dead will drop a lot, I need one of those for my Grimgrin EDH deck. It's just so useful, along with Diregraf Colossus.

Same here! I'm thinking that in a Liliana, Defiant Necromancer zombie tribal EDH would be a great deck!

Grimgrin is a lot of fun to play. I can see Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip working, but you miss out on a lot of fun Blue cards, including Grimgrin, Corpse-Born himself. You have to build a lot around him, but he's a lot of fun and I love playing him. I mostly chose him because someone had a foil of him they didn't want and offered me a good deal.

Having Blue also gives you the option of Gravecrawler + Rooftop Storm, if you're into combos. When I'm playing Casual, I'll pay whenever I recast him, and not cast him if I don't have any left. Diregraf Captain grants an instant win with that combo. I once used Diabolic Revelation to tutor for all 3 and beat someone with a several thousand dollar deck who had both Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger out, 6 6/6 lands, and other heavy beaters.

If you'd like to take a look at my deck, it should be on my profile. It's not as budget as some of my other decks, because I included some expensive cards I already own in the mainboard, like Akroma's Memorial and Death Baron

I might go build phenax mill with Zombie tribal, eventually. Modern seems too expensive for me.

I once tutored Diabolic Revelation for 15, discarded alot, but totally worth it!

@Atony1400: I've always had trouble being competitive in modern on a budget. That must seem strange for me, because I love EDH, which you need more cards for. I have an old / Werewolf deck that I'm thinking of using again with some of the new Werewolves, particularly Arlinn Kord. When I was messing around with some of my friends about what our planes walker cards would be, mine would a 2-sided 4-drop Werewolf planes walker that would transform into Werewolf form when you had 4 Wolves or Werewolves on the battlefield.

I can see Pheneax working, I mostly use Grimgrin, Corpse-Born as just another powerful zombie, the mill aspect is something I never thought of. Be sure to include an Undead Alchemist!

Sadly, ThoAlmighty I don't have an Undead Alchemist. I would modify my mill deck Milling is Fum for EDH, but without 4 Traumatize, it is weak.

Have you seen Startled Awake? It seems like it will take a lot of mana over time, but if you're not drawing enough cards it makes for a nice alternative, if the price goes down.

I love how they have made everything transform on Innistrad; Lands, Creatures, Sorceries, Enchantments, Artifacts/Equipment. Wow,

They also have cards that change card types, like Westvale Abbey and Soul Seizer  Flip. This set has 4 planes walkers released so far: Jace, Unraveler of Secrets, Sorin, Grim Nemesis, Nahiri, the Harbringer, and my personal favorite, Arlinn Kord. It has the most of anyone non-core set, and only half the cards are released so far. The most planeswalkers a set has had was 2013 Core Set, with 6.

Atony1400 says... #17

ThoAlmighty, actually, both 2013 and 2015 had 6 walkers in the set!

@Denial048: They usually release the mythics and rare earlier, building hype. I would have been surprised if they released a fifth.

@Atony1400: What was the 6th walker in 2015? There are the 5 mono-colors, and what was the other? 2013 had the 5 mono-colors and Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker.

Garruk, Apex Predator. The most butcher-like walker ever!

Ah, how could I forget? He was the "poster boy" of M15.

That was Garruk the Slayer.

Is there a difference? Was he prereleased under different name?

He was a promotional card, he's not legal in anything I believe.

Was Slayer just a first draft, and then they decided to change him? I've certainly seen that somewhere, but not since the set was released. The wording on him seems weird, "destroy all creatures Garruk the Slayer doesn't control." It doesn't sound like the precise wording Wizards usually uses. It could be a fan creation after it was leaked there was a B/G Garruk again. Since our last one, Garruk, the Veil-Cursed, had some wolf tribal elements, someone could have tried to come up with this.
