Hi folks. I'm new to pauper so try not to laugh but I'd really like to hear thoughts on my deck.

wrUG Slivers

Thanks.

Slivers on a white-rUG could make quite a mess... ;) I'm not an administrator of the club, but I'll look into it if and when I have time.

How about my deck Mono White Falcons?

Thanks. Great name for it too!

@NotSquishedYet,

In response to your comment (referring to comment #2), would you like to be an administrator? It just so happens we were considering you?

Oh. Well then. I might not be active all the time due to work, but I'm definitely considering it if that's alright. HairyManBack and I were just thinking of starting a similar club for jank instead of budget. I could see them working together. ;)

@NotSquishedYet,

Yeah that's fine. PM me and I'll give you some details! If you make the other club, I'll definantly be interested with helping you and HairyManBack out!

Quick vocab: Jank is a form of deck in which you take a creature used for its ability and pump it up, correct? I keep hearing that term around this site and that's what I believe it means.

April 5, 2016 11:35 p.m.

Jank - good, but awkward. Think a really well protected, hard to disrupt infinite combo... that takes 6 pieces to pull off. Decks usually seem to build up in a straight line or a curve; a deck starts being janky when it goes left and starts doing spirals. Preferably with goggly eyes stapled on.

I think you're thinking of Voltron aura/hexproof, where a 1/1 hexproof is made into an unblockable 14/12 lifelinker, usually with something to prevent sacrifice.

Wow, I had the completely wrong idea. Your description reminds me of a Rube Goldberg Device. I still think it would be fun to make EDH decks which focus on random legendaries like Isamaru, Hound of Konda, and Voltron-ifying them. Maybe there's a club out there for me.

April 6, 2016 12:09 a.m.

It's like a Rube Goldberg, yes, but gains power at the same rate it gains complexity and uselessness. Eggs and Cheeri0s decks work like that - Eggs draws one card at a time chaining off recurrence spells that slowly gain mana and dig for combo pieces, resulting in an infinite combo-off that takes around 15 minutes and has a middling chance of failure halfway through. If it works, though, you win. Cheeri0s uses a creature that gets bigger by being equipped more, and a creature that lets you equip for free and draw cards by playing equipment, letting you draw 20+ 0-cost artifacts, equip them for free, and swing for 20-40 trample on turn 2 - if you get the combo pieces.

I've personally never liked combos, I usually don't run them (sometimes 1 just as a fallback for competitive games), because unless they're entertaining and hilarious (as I'd assume Jank combos are), they make a fantastic way to lose friends. Also, Jori En, Ruin Diver Voltron just seems like so much fun. You have access to nice artifact cards, so Equipment could be a viable option, and the bonus card each turn is fun. Nobody sees it coming either.

Hey everyone, I noticed that there was a mono red deck being requested, and I have one that happens to work pretty well in casual play and on untap.in etc., but unfortunately can't take it to proper events, so I'm not sure how competitive it is there.

So here it is!

Hope you like it whoever requested it :)

And if anyone wants to test it out, make sure to report back on how it plays in a more competitive scene.

K00lDudE1 your deck isn't within the budget. It needs to be $60 or cheaper.

April 7, 2016 12:02 p.m.

I thought we bumped modern budget up to $100? Atony1400 can you confirm?

April 7, 2016 12:07 p.m.

Actually found it in the description. "4. One acception to the above 2 rules is for modern decks, which have a $100 budget cap! (effective as of 03/06/2016)"So that burn deck fits.

April 7, 2016 12:09 p.m.

I had it under $50 originally, but then noticed that modern was up to $100, so I upgraded it a bit to fit the budget. All you would need to do it just replace the Vexing Devils with a cheaper alternative, just that it wouldn't be as good.

Atony1400 says... #19

Yes, Squirrel_of_War, I'll confirm. I also noticed that I used 'acception' instead of 'exception', so I fixed it. We're also considering an EDH cap raise!

Sorry K00lDudE1 I didn't see the change there. I hope I didn't cause you any confusion.

April 7, 2016 12:26 p.m.

Tyrannosary says... #21

Atony1400 you can remove my budget 8whack deck. It's past the budget price cap and I can't lower it any further without making the strictly worse.

April 7, 2016 12:29 p.m.

No worries Tyrannosary, at first, I didn't even notice that the cap was $100 instead of $50 either.

April 7, 2016 12:35 p.m.

Atony1400 says... #23

Yeah, changed it a month ago when it became apperently that it was difficult to play Modern on a budget.

April 7, 2016 2:20 p.m.

It certainly is hard to play semi-competitively on a budget, although it is very fun to beat $$$$ decks with your budget brews lol

K00lDudE1, I agree to that!
