A while ago my friend (who is not on T/O) allowed me to post his old standard deck from Rtr/Theros. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it meets the requirements for the Cheap Deck Club. Here it is: Bloodrush Ramp.

Can you please separate the decks into format so it's easier to view and find what I'm looking for?

Who cares about upkeep? A fun Modern build i made a while a go, can be quite competitive and only $65 without the Blood Moon's in the sideboard!

I agree with the above.

Also there are a couple spelling mistakes in this. One is in the decks section and another is in the want to help section.

Currently I feel that there are a few things missing to make this page worth it.

The focus of the page should be the decks themselves, not the description of the page. Currently there's 9 tabs. Most of these tabs are only a few sentences.

"Want to get in?", "please note" and "Deck acceptance criteria" are all on the same subject, yet in 3 seperate tabs with only a few lines in each. "Want to help?" could also be put together with the above. "Decks, (Current Members)" and "Deck notes" could also be in the same tab. The "overview" tab serves no purpose. It's just a two sentence description, you can put that in the description outside of the tabs.

The reason you have tabs is to make navigating and reading your page easier. Currently with this many tabs you achieve the opposite (although it does look nice).

That's not the real issue though, the issue is that the purpose of this page is to help people find budget decks. Which only one out of nine tabs actually do. Said tab is also simpy a list of links with the name of the deck creators. It doesn't give the viewer any information beyond that.

What I propose is that you lower the tab count about the club itself and make them less specific, and increase the number of decklist tabs instead.

Something like this:

Introduction: What is the Cheap Deck Club? Short introduction, not inside a tab. Include the "perks" here to help people understand why this would be good for them to be a part of.

  1. Tab 1: How can I join? ("Deck acceptance criteria", "want to get in?", "please note:", "want to help?") are all in this tab.
  2. Tab 2 - Main tree: Decklists! Short explanation on how the decklists are sorted by format.
  3. Tab 2-1: STANDARD (Add date and current standard sets to description to avoid having to wade through old rotated decks and make sorting easier!)
  4. Tab 2-2: MODERN
  5. Tab 2-3: EDH/COMMANDER
  6. Tab 2-4: LEGACY (Is this a thing? Who knows! Maybe just name it "Casual"?)
  7. Tab 2-5: VINT- hah, just kidding
  8. Tab 2-5: PAUPER (This will probably be a pretty big one!)
  9. Tab 2-6: EX-STANDARD (DEFUNCT, tab for budget standard decks that are no longer standard legal)
  10. Tab 3: Credits!

If you feel that having only three tabs makes your description look too short, then just don't put the format list in a sub-tree.

Now its far easier to find the deck that you may be interested in.

However, we still have the problem of only being presented with a deck link on each page, forcing the viewer to open each single decklist and looking through them before finding what he wants is very tedious, especially if the name isn't very descriptive.

The easiest thing would be to add the "deck-large" link instead of the regular one.

Current:

Mikaeus, Extreme Sub $20 Budget EDH - Sleazebag

Large: ((deck-large:mikaeus-extreme-sub-20-budget-edh)), replace (()) with brackets.

This is already a huge improvement which requires no effort. It shows the format, colors, deck owner, score, comments and views all in a tidy format.

The thing that would make this club amazing however, would be to have a short description of each deck to help people find what they want. If you want, you could do these yourself, or ask the owner of the deck to supply one themselves (Or both).

For example adding this below the deck link:

Mono Black Combo deck using Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. A deck that abuses the synergy between Undying and -1/-1 counters to swing for infinite power, infinitely mill or deal infinite direct damage.

Another thing to consider adding further down the line (Or ASAP) is a "vouching" system.Sure, a budget decklist might look interesting, but is it GOOD? Anyone can claim their deck is great, but is it really? Being interesting does not mean it can win.So a player can Vouch for a deck in the comments, and get his name added beneath the decklist.

Here's the end result:

Here is a Suicide Black(Red) deck based around Fire Covenant. Has won against various multi-thousand dollar decks such as Painters Stone. Smoking Wreckage

Sleazebag, thank you so much for your opinion. I have tried many times to make the decks large, but have failed miserabley. As for the fewer tabs, I totally agree. It has been hard to write info for the tabs you said to group together. I have already considered adding tabs to sort decks, but had trouble saving due to ===accordion.

Also, I'd like to ask you to take the position of admin!

I noticed the link was acting strange to my deck "A Poor Man's Illness (Pauper Infect) Maindeck $25"
The actual shortcut name for it is:

a-poor-mans-illness

Hope that helps!

whaaaat? what does "vouched" mean? for the description?

November 14, 2015 10:06 a.m.

Panzerforge says... #15

I'm assuming it means someone else vouched for/approved of my deck, bah-bammmm.

I simply received a note that it was selected.

Vouching for a deck is when someone else says it's good.

Thank you Panzerforge for helping me fix your deck, but it still seems not to link.

well, my deck, the mana severance one, says "vouched". I designed that thing on my own.

November 14, 2015 4:49 p.m.

RoarMaster says... #19

bah-bammmm It isnt that you didnt make the deck, its that some one else said it was a good deck, thats all. Basically whenever you +1 a deck you are vouching for it.

November 14, 2015 5:19 p.m.

Sleazebag says... #20

Preferably "vouching" is only done by people that have tried making the deck, other than the original creator.

There's no real way to control this of course, but if I came here looking for a deck, I'd want one that actually wins and not a deck that looks cool but doesn't actually work. So a deck with a lot of vouchers would be a "confirmed" strong deck.

+1'ing a deck can be done for many reasons, like simply enjoying the theme or idea. Vouching is a player putting his weight behind a deck and saying "this works".

Expecting people to build the deck before vouching would normally be a bit strict, but this is the cheap deck club, most of the cards used are dirt cheap or found in most common piles. Not to mention sites like Cockatrice.

Great description Sleazebag.

Panzerforge says... #22

Well, I don't know who vouched for my deck, but I can assure you it works...

I'm sure others will want to put their personal spin on it, and that's great. I'm still tweaking it constantly, but even with the sideboard and a few changes I've spent less than $40 for the whole thing.

Atony1400 please delete this comment, but I think it's not linking because there's one too many "s"s in illness in your link.
