The Crusade of Colorless Beatsticks

Standard* Aggro Artifact Budget Burn UR (Izzet)

Red/Blue Thopters decks arent exactly rare in the current standard, but this one sets itself apart whereas I'm attempting to establish a more solid strategy by creating an incredibly hostile boardstate very, VERY early. As opposed to kicking things off around turns 3 or 4 as I've normally seen, this build is quite explosive, splatting creatures onto the field in the early game. Bonded Construct shines here as even though it cannot attack alone, it's a 2/1 for one who when accompanied by his pal Ornithopter, can swing in for some early damage on turn two. With Darksteel Citadel and Ensoul Artifact the possibility of coming at the opponent on turn three with a 5/5 indestructible beatstick is pretty fun. Stoke The Flames as well as Shrapnel Blast act as removal or simply hard, face-melting damage to the opponent. Thopter Spy Network is a glorious enchantment that gives us both 1/1 flying guys and cards when they connect with our opponent. Auto-Include. What's funny is that I'm greedy, Thopter Spy Network only supplies one card no matter how many of my artifact creatures smack the opponent and that's why i favor the Bident of Thassa as a two-of. Each guy hitting grants me another card, possible removal or just more guys to get ahead in the game. The tap ability also helps, if all of the opponent's guys must attack then i can whack at the opponent like a card pinata. Also being an artifact itself, i can offer it to Shrapnel Blast or a possible Ensoul Artifact target it for a 5/5 if need be. Pia and Kiran Nalaar have earned their spot as what is essentially three creatures for four mana. Talk about value, right folks? Their ability becomes increasingly relevant as the game goes on, sacrificing an artifact to deal 2 damage to either a creature or player is flexible with tons of utility. Chief Of The Foundry is an artifact lord. Auto-Include a playset and he'll maximize the damage output of this wrecking crew of colorless constructs. Ghostfire Blade is just sick. Drop it for 1, equip it to any colorless dude for 1. Hangarback Walker is a great card that was pretty slept on until it showed up in an U/W build in a Star City Games event. Even played for 1 he's a creature that makes another creature when he dies. Pumped by his tap ability it can get way out of hand. Mid to late game he's a menace. Splat onto the field with three counters and pumped further and Upon death he creates a swarm of 1/1s equal to the amount of counters on him. It's a threat that gets more hectic even after it's dealt with! The last explanation is Obelisk Of Urd. Convoke makes it reasonably priced. The only possible negative is that Thopters are typed as "Thopter" not "Construct" as the rest of the artifact family is so it doesn't cover the entire team. Possibly to be switched out later on after playtesting. Thanks for checking this out, no sideboard as I'm not too sure of my metagames tricks yet. Coming soon! Please rate and comment. Criticism and help are GREATLY appreciated!
