I'm also in agreement with picking Wind Drake here. The Uncovered Clues should wheel.

+1 Wind Drake

If we're hating we should consider hating the Steeple Roc too. 3/1 first strike kills any chance we have of our flyers doing anything useful. I'm as scared as anyone of Debt to the Deathless but I'd have to agree it's too early to be hating anything, so we need to pick the card that helps us the most. That card is probably Uncovered Clues BUT as I recall the last one of those we saw came in at pick 13 which means this one will most likely come back around. Therefore my vote:

+1 Wind Drake

I like Wind Drake too, but...

I also like Zhur-Taa Druid because he can Tim the opponent. The mana is a bonus, although his casting cost is a bit of a pain.

But if we end up dead-locked with our opponent and hiding behind our defenders, we can ding em for one each turn.

What do you guys think?

July 8, 2013 11:47 a.m.

Hes worth taking in a worse pack. I think the evasion on the drake along with the friendly mana cost makes it a more reliable card.

Wind Drake is my second choice. Everything's better with wings.

Good points, all. I'll swap my vote to the Drake.

Drake it is. I do think we will get a reasonable card when this pack comes back to us.

+1 Wind Drake

+1 Wind Drake We need more fly-ers then anything. We need eyes in the sky more then the ground. But for the Hate card. We can easily counter it if we get counters in later packs.

Drake it shall be

@Prevailed- The only counter we could use in this deck is Mindstatic , which is pretty crappy. I don't think we'll be mainboarding it even if we get one.

So, another cyclops. This pleases me.
I also really like Hidden Strings . This card does work, especially since we're stocking up on some fliers, but for our build the more Nivix Cyclops the better. Because I mean come on. We're allowed to have as many as we want., in a 40 card deck. We will hit one every game at this point.

It would be sweeter than candy if we could get that Maze Glider if it tables. Nothing like swinging in with 4/4 fliers.

TAKE ALL THE CYCLOPS!

I like this pack. We take the cyclops now, because duh. Then we have two strong blue cards that are semi-likely to table. We should get two good picks from this pack.

Agog says... #16

I'm looking pretty hard at that Maze Glider .

I wouldn't expect it to table - I expect our competition in blue would be choosing between the glider and the guildgate. Nivix Cyclops is the likeliiest one to table at this stage in the game IMO.

+1 Maze Glider

actiontech says... #17

Oh boy this is tough. Maze Glider makes our armada one-eyed airborne rangers which, lets be honest, is pretty much guaranteed win considering how many other fliers we've soaked up. Is this the first one we've seen? Considering how many people are passing on the cyclops from both directions I feel like we are the only ones running true izzet at this point. If this one doesn't come back we're likely to see at least a few more down the road. My vote:

+1 Maze Glider but my feelings will be okay if we take the cyclops.

Agog says... #18

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I like Maze Glider . 3/5 flyer for an easy 6 cmc. Stops 3/1 flying first strike which we know must be out there, and makes our cyclops fly.

our competition will likely be looking to run between 5 - 7 instants/sorceries (depending on how many enchants they picked up), so I just don't see them latching onto the cyclops unless they are short creatures. Cyclops are only good in numbers.... Which is also why it is so attractive to us.

I almost wish we could keep this pack and then skip ahead to pack 3.

Maze Glider is impressive in our deck because we have six playable multicolored creatures.

Nivix Cyclops seems like an easy pick because that's most of our deck so far, and it's better in multiples.

Hidden Strings is tempting because we need some more instants and sorceries to start turning on our cyclopi.

Izzet Guildgate is also perfect for us, and the odds are that we won't see another one, and we've yet to pick up any real fixing yet.

This is a REALLY close one for me, but I think we take the cyclops now and wait to see what tables for us, and cross our fingers and hope that we see another Izzet Guildgate .

+1 Nivix Cyclops

Darkness1835 says... #20

We're firmly in izzet now. I really don't think we need fixing. 2 color decks without fixing is completely feasible. I don't have anything bad to say about Maze Glider . It's a great card in this build, but we need to get as many cyclops as we can. If blue is as open as we think it is, Hidden Strings or Maze Glider will come back to us, either of which is molto bene. I'm for the cyclops for this back. Also, we seem pretty split, so make sure to give a +1 to your vote so it' easier for me to count, if you please. Thanks.

+1 Nivix Cyclops .

actiontech says... #21

It may be irrelevant if we're right and nobody else is playing blue, but that Maze Glider would be able to block and survive an activated Nivix Cyclops , unless it was activated by our one and only (so far) Weapon Surge . I really don't want an opponent playing that thing against us. And I wouldn't be too excited about it tabling. Big fliers are always at a premium. Even if the other teams don't know anything else about drafting they know that much.

July 9, 2013 12:11 p.m.

Agog says... #22

I'm still firmly in the Maze Glider camp. Wouldn't want it across the board from us. It may be the closest thing to a bomb we can expect in 3x DGM.

To me the glider is THE best common creature in DGM for a cyclops deck. It hits the board, and the whole situation changes for our offensive power. Even without multi-colored creatures it is the strongest flyer in DGM and only loses to an activated Blood Baron of Vizkopa or mutual destruction with an activated Fluxcharger . Every other DGM flyer it kills outright except it will bounce with the Jelenn Sphinx , Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker , Fluxcharger and activated Beetleform Mage

Another cyclops is, well, another cyclops. Still need a spell to make it an offensive threat. Doesn't provide any variety to our deck synergies. Doesn't add to air superiority.

July 9, 2013 12:29 p.m.

I'm going to switch my vote to

+1 Maze Glider

It's less likely to table than the cyclops, and it does make our deck substantially better. Even passing on the cyclops this go around, I'd say we probably have about an 80% chance of seeing it on the rebound.

July 9, 2013 12:43 p.m.

actiontech says... #24

We're being passed cyclopses from both directions. Clearly they are not in high demand with the rest of the teams. It's likely we will pick up one or two more on this round before we even crack our 3rd packs.

July 9, 2013 12:45 p.m.

TiredTofu says... #25

Agreed, Agog. Also worth noting is that while our deck is strong versus ground units, we're weak to flyers. Glider is a defensive house and a solid hate pick. Plus, synergy with Blast of Genius , which while we've yet to see it, would be a great pick pack 3.

And as much as I hate to pass a Cyclops, there's a good chance it will table. And if we lose one Cyclops pack 2, that's not the end of the world.
