I also like Advent of the Wurm here. Although the Carnage Gladiator and Bronzebeak Moa are both tempting as well.
I have no hopes of seeing the Moa table back to us, but possibly the Wake the Reflections will come back around. If we are on the token plan, that will be a sweet pick up.

Looks like Advent of the Wurm it is.We shouldn't be thinking too far ahead yet; who knows what the next 6-7 packs will show us. We could end up going a completely different direction, and I don't want to feel locked into colors just yet. Time will tell.

I read the pack before any of the comments and immediately picked
+1 Advent of the Wurm
Because 5/5 tramplers are good in limited AND there's a good chance Wake the Reflections will come back around to us.
Now reading comments looks like it's a winner already.

@landgrafb - Not sure if you messed up the links or are doing it like that on purpose, but just a reminder that all of TappedOut will be able to see the cards we tag here, even if it's private, so please avoid tagging.

@actiontech- I also think what really seals the deal with this pick is the instant speed trickery we can apply when using it.

I did a half-tag on purpose to make the card name stand out without actually tagging it.
I agree fully on not feeling locked into G/W just because we're picking Advent. Always keep an open mind in draft. Always.
On an unrelated note, would it be possible to reset the comments each time we make a pick. That way we don't have to slog through these comments when we make our next pick.

Based on the slow load times and ailed loads, I'm guessing the TappedOut site is struggling under the drafter's activity. We should clear comments with each pick I think to minimize the page size.
BTW, anyone keeping track of the pack lists? Any clever ideas how to share this info?

@Agog & landgrafb- Yeah I agree, I've gotten thopters a few times already. When I post the next pack tonight, I'll go through and remove all the old comments. I'm keeping track of the packs, no idea where I could post this though. When the packs start to table I'll post what's missing, though.

@Darkness1835 Don't know if anyone else is interested in having a logo (except presumably dcarpntr since it was his/hers idea really) but since the comments will be deleted every new pack I'd appreciate if you would link to the logo from the pack description if anyone wants to comment about it as the deck starts to take shape. Of course as a team leader if you have some sort of deep dislike of logos I will just shut up about it :)
June 23, 2013 12:33 p.m.
@Draugo: I like the logo! And I like the idea of putting it in the deck description so we always have it.
@Landgraf and Darkness1835: I feel the need to defend myself for some odd reason after your comments on not feeling locked into colors yet.
When I said, "I have no hopes of seeing the Moa table back to us, but possibly the Wake the Reflections will come back around. If we are on the token plan, that will be a sweet pick up." I was not saying that we have to go G/W and we have to do it now. I was only making the comment that Bronzebeak Moa is too good to table and we won't see it when this pack comes back to us.
And as for picking up Wake the Reflections later, the keyword in that sentence was if. I meant exactly what I said. If we pick up more token producing cards, then Wake the Reflections would be a good pick for us later because no one else is going to take it. I was not saying that we are taking Wake the Reflections when this pack comes back around.

I don't think we were trying to shut down anything that has been said yet. I was just trying to make sure we go into this with an open mind. The last DDD stalled for most of the middle picks because half the people were trying to force colors we were "locked" into, even though there was room for growth.
Also keep in mind that archetypes are going to be really hard to build here. DGM is full of support for the guild mechanics, but lacks a lot of staples. It will be really hard to make a "token deck" or a "bloodrush deck". Our best bet overall will probably be to just pick cards that are strong independent of guild mechanics.
If we can luck into some sort of archetype deck, though, I'm all for it. Synergy wins games.

Yep I'm a little late, and "YES ADVENT OF THE WURM."
Sidenote, a guy walked into the game store the other day and bought one DGM booster (of the two left). He asked the owner to suggest which one to get, and promptly took the other one. His booster contained foil Advent of the Wurm, Beck and Call, and Blood Crypt. GOOD CHOICE, SIR! Best pack I've ever seen opened before my eyes.
June 23, 2013 5:08 p.m.
Oh, and hopping onto landgrafbs comment about generally strong cards; advent of the wurm is one of the strongest independent cards in this set. I will always, always play a 4cmc flash 5/5 trampler, populatability is (almost) irrelevant and, if ever applicable, serves as a game-smashing upside. If we wind up splashing white and don't want to commit to populate, fine, we can go G/X/w and I'd still play this to kingdom come. It's a great start, and if we get a few more strong green cards (particularly in the first 3 picks of the second pack) we've got ourselves a plan.

Right. No one was shutting down anyone; sorry if it seemed that way. i just meant we need to keep our options open. If we can pick up a few more good white cards and some fixing, I'd be willing to run 3 colors and splash white because of Advent. That's far into the future though. I'd definitely like to see more green though because the GG cost of the Wurm warrants more than a splash.

NobodyPicksBulbasaur says... #17
Yup. But we also need to be willing to let Advent go if we get locked out of Green and/or White. One rare in a sea of crap cards won't win anything. It all depends on what we see from here.
June 23, 2013 7:59 p.m.
I agree. Sorry if I came off sounding angry. I just felt the need to clarify what I meant from my first post.

This is the team logo that Draugo put up, if you haven't seen it yet. If everyone approves of it, can we have this added to the deck description before the comments get deleted, Darkness1835?
June 23, 2013 9:13 p.m.
Approve! Nice work. Although I'd say the background is a little bit bright for a "Dark Brotherhood".

For some reason it reminds me of Tingle from the Zelda series. At the same time it looks both like a silhouette of his head and a close-up of his nose.

+1 Advent of the Wurm
The power of this card at instant speed is too good to pass up. Surprise 5/5 block with immediate counter-strike when the turn passes is a big hammer for 4 cmc. The 2 green mana is the only downside to this card.
