I'm still sticking with Dragonshift , though some good points have been made on Turn / Burn

Hey team, I'm back.
Discussion will resume on this page for the remainder of the DDD.
My big thanks to dcarpntr for filling in for me. I agree with all the choices the group made. Hopefully one of those Maze Glider
s comes back; it'd be nice to ditch the Rusher and have more Skyclopsbility.

But seriously, just look at the picks we've had lately.
This pack has been pure, sweet lovin' to our deck.

Your welcome! I'm glad I could help.
Kravian, I seriously laughed out loud, like really loud, when I read that. +1

I'm in favor of Riot Piker
.
Dropping a Hidden Strings
and ciphering it onto him is a powerful play for our deck, provided we have one or more cyclops out. This turns cyclops into a 7/4 as long as blockers have been tapped, then swing in for 9 damage. And that's a bad 5th turn for this deck. It'sWeapon Surge
in creature form/without the cyclops trigger. Still sounds good to me, since we're getting the next best thing here. We need a couple more creatures anyways.
Everything else in this pack either isn't in color, or isn't helpful. We'd need either a simic or gruul cluestone to consider fixing; everything else is a waste.
+1 Riot Piker

Sounds alright to me. It was either that or hate the Steeple Roc.

Yeah I looked and didn't see anything else playable, and he fills a much needed 2 drop slot.
+1 Riot Piker

@landgrafb- what are you talking about? This pack has me STOKED. Gotta love a suicidal 2/1!

@dcarpntr- I'm not terribly worried about Steeple Roc since our cyclops can kill it on offense, and our Fluxcharger can kill it on defense.
July 26, 2013 12:05 p.m.
Woot. Them goblins hoppin' the luv train.
Yeah, bad pack. Piker will at least do stuff at some point? And we have enough evasion in Hidden Strings for him to be merely foolhardy, not suicidal.

I was saying that the rest of the pack is bad for everyone else as well. There's no reason to hate a card out of another color because they're all bad.

@landgrafb- I was being sarcastic; this pack is pretty bad. Riot piker is okay, but there's way better. Best we can do at the moment though.

Missing TiredTofu and Draugo's vote, but as it stands it's unanimously Riot Piker
.
Will report in about 3 hours just in case, although I don't expect a sudden swing in the voting.

New pack. The way I see it we have 2 options here:
Hidden Strings
- The more obvious pick here is to take Hidden Strings
number 5. Our deck is gonna be as consistent as Lindsay Lohan's arrest record; even more so if we take this. Tap blockers, swing in for the pain. Simple, elegant, and brutal.
Gruul Cluestone
- Taking this will let us ditch our dull and tentative Izzet Cluestone
for fixing that matters. It makes Beetleform Mage
much more playable but is fantastic (this card is a BEAST in draft. I've done some crazy work with Mage + Strings) and will allow us to more consistently play Blood when we draw it (which when we do, will most likely be game at that point).
I suppose there is a 3rd choice, albeit a boring and lackluster one: Murmuring Phantasm
. Thematically it's nice, because it has a big butt, and can slow the board state even more (which, let's face it, will make our deck a nightmare to play against because you'll never know when we alpha strike for the win. [as an aside, I foresee us winning at least game 1 of every single match due to pure surprise. Who expects a couple of big butts to swing in for lethal on turn 5?]) Anyways, back to Phantasm. It can stall for a bit, and is able to take a hit from just about any creature in the format, and becomes a very threatening 4/4 dragon with Dragonshift
.
I'll vote officially later today, after more of you have given their input. But I'm leaning strongly towards Strings or maybe the Cluestone. Phantasm was just sort of a justification for including the one we already have in our decklist.
July 27, 2013 3:02 a.m.
Consistency! Whoo!
I suppose Cluestone is an option, but we don't need the Cluestone for fixing. One cluestone should be enough with a couple of forests. I've been doing some tests, and 7U, 6R, 3G lands plus 1 Gruul Cluestone has been consistent on all counts, and that's by cheating and only going 16 lands.
Still, though, this deck is pretty degenerate--and it's crazy consistent, too. Turn 5-6 wins while tapping down multiple blockers is pretty crazy in this format.
July 27, 2013 5:51 a.m.
Sorry, that was 8U, 6R, 2G & a Gruul Cluestone , my bad. Tests were based on assuming we use all three of our green playables.
July 27, 2013 5:53 a.m.
I'm down for another Hidden Strings. It seems like the best pick here. We always need quality activators for the Skyclops nation. Also, having more Hidden Strings makes Uncovered Clues
even more playable in our deck. Before Pack 3 started, Uncovered Clues was kind of bad. Now, it's going to be pretty decent and shouldn't be bricking on us.

Plus One Hidden Strings
Hurrah consistency
July 27, 2013 11:11 a.m.
Consistency is king, plus I want to play an overloaded deck that breaks through the 4x restriction I've always played under

The next pack is up on the interim deck page.
I sent an email to KrazyCaley asking what our last pick was. I'm assuming it was Dragonshift because it had 5 votes and Turn//Burn had 3 votes, but I need to make certain of it before posting that in the update on the other deck.
