Yeah, there are a few cards that scare me.

No reason to worry about it until we get there. One game at a time.

Yeah guys, 30 damage at a time . . .

Good luck Darkness!

I don't think I'll be able to make it for the live broadcast, but I trust our pilot.

Well, I had dinner guests and couldn't watch. Caley has nothing on his channel posted and there aren't any recordings on Darkness' either. How did it go???

I'm in the same boat as you - the darkness boat :)

August 11, 2013 10:05 p.m.

Match goes live as soon as Caley is ready. Jump on Dark's twitch and throw some love his way.

1-2 loss to Goody. Won the first game and hand ridiculously crappy hands 2nd and 3rd game. Bad stuff. Easy match up we should've won, except for those Skylasher s 3rd game.

hmmm, Skylasher ... didn't even think about him during the draft.

Will have to watch the vid

Ugh.

BS we lost entirely due to bad MTGO shuffling. It's why I quit MTGO in the first place. Skylasher had nothing to do with it other than speeding up the inevitable result of our terrible draw/mulligan/remulligan. F MTGO.

Luck is still a component to the game and sometimes it will bite us in the ass, no matter how consistent we think the deck is. Darkness did the best he could with the cards he drew.

All we can do at this point is look at the tape and see where we made mistakes, and from those mistakes we learn how to play better in the future. An example that comes to mind is the turn in game 1 where we missed dealing lethal by not casting Weapon Surge, then following it up with Blood post-combat (I think Darkness caught this mistake because he made a comment about how he should have cast Weapon Surge on the dude with Hidden Strings). That could have been a costly mistake, and one that we will probably not make in the future. And thus we learned from it and we will be better for it.

Stay positive. It's only one loss. We can still be in the top 4, and possibly still win the whole thing.

I'm assuming our next game will not be until later this week or this coming weekend?

Seriously please don't blame the "shuffler" even as a joke, it's just ridiculous.

Sorry for late replies. I created the update and in my haste didn't even check if people had posted. I've stopped getting updates for some reason.
@dcarpntr - I don't know when our next game is. As far as I know, we still have 3 more matches to go through in round 2.
@Draugo- as silly as it sounds, we did lose to bad shuffling. Going down to 5 and still not having a single cyclops is was did us in. The worst part is we could've squeezed through a victory even with the shitty hand if we had had Blood in hand that 3rd game.

I am back. Updates?

I thought we had Blood but not a green mana source that 3rd game?

August 13, 2013 2:01 p.m.

Kravian says... #17

Pretty sure you are right. We sat on 5 mana (no glider) and no green source for a few turns. Super sad stuff.

So apparently Tappedout swallowed my post and since it was quite lengthy I just retype the main points. Darkness1835 It might have been bad hands that made us lose but my reply was entirely to actiontech who was upset that MTGO has some kind of evil randomizer who gives bad hands on purpose (and not at randomly). Sufficient card randomizer is so trivial to make in any mainstream programming language that it would be much harder to make an algorithm that would deal bad hands deliberately on undetermined points of time. Main point, blaming "the shuffler" is like blaming your own shuffling... it's stupid.

I get a bad hand, I pile shuffle, I don't get the same hand. I get a bad hand on MTGO, I mulligan, get the same hand +/- 1 card. Happens to me all the time. I'm sure it's just my own bad luck, and now Darkness' as well.

August 13, 2013 3:26 p.m.

Draugo says... #20

Do you know what RANDOM means? Also have you heard of this thing called confirmation bias?

August 13, 2013 3:47 p.m.

Darkness1835 says... #21

Damn you, actiontech! Take your bad luck elsewhere.

August 13, 2013 3:54 p.m.

Prevailed says... #22

I actually, get GREAT hands. actiontech GET OUTTA HERE! I WILL MAKE IT GO GOOD NOW!

August 13, 2013 3:55 p.m.

To be fair to those griping about the randomizer, it is impossible to create a truly random number generator. Every RNG out there uses some sort of mathematical algorithm to simulate randomness. It's possible that some bad hands are slightly more likely than some good hands.

Granted, the differences will be miniscule in any decent RNG. Blaming it gives us something to be mad at, though, which is nice(?) sometimes.

Losing to bad play, okay I can deal with that we learn we improve we move forward. Losing to a bad draw - two games in a row, arguably four deals in a row - is tougher to swallow. I'm finished on this topic Draugo. I get it, you're good at math and I'm a superstitious idiot. Case closed.

We still got this, guys. That matchup was going to be weird for us anyways.
