You guys are welcome once again as I stayed the hell away! Nice work darkness, I'll check out the replay from a safe distance.

@landgrafb - True dat. It was the most janky way to win though. Fun stuff. Anyways, I'm really eager to see the result of landot's next game. He's current in the lead and if he loses this round, than it's level pegging- aka we're tied for first.

Just watched Caley's replay and someone in his comment stream had a good point. We could've won a turn earlier in game 3, because after attacking him down to 1 life, we could've used the cipher triggers to untap the land and Punish the Enemy at instant speed. Small technicality, but could save us in the future.

We only had 4 lands in play that turn if I remember correctly. Would our triggers have allowed us to float enough mana to win?
August 28, 2013 11:39 p.m.
Yes, presumably. I haven't watched the stream yet.
Say you have 4 lands, one Hidden Strings in hand, and a dude.
Tap 2 Mana, cast Hidden Strings. Tap a blocker, untap 1 land, cipher it onto a dude. At this point, you have 3 untapped land.
Swing in, trigger cipher. Tap 2 land to float mana, then Cipher trigger resolves to untap those two land. You're left with 2 floating mana and 3 untapped land, enough for an instant speed burn spell.

Well, bad news. Landot won his match quite handily. We are not tied for the lead.

Well, good news. Our next match is vs Landot, so we will be in first if we beat him. Same record but a win heads-up.

His 4-1 record thus far is a little scary, but yeah, if we can beat him, we're in 1st place with 1 match left. This next match will be crucial. If we don't win this, we can't win the draft.

I don't think heads up is how the tie breakers work. According to the points tracker on Absinthman's sheet, the first tiebreaker is Games Won and the second breaker is Games Lost.

Official tie breaker #1 for tourneys I believe is opponent's match win percentage. Wins against better opponents counting for a better overall ranking.
August 29, 2013 3:09 p.m.
In normal tournaments, yes, but according to the sheet that has the standings, the first tie breaker appears to be Games Won, and the 2nd is Games Lost.

Not sure what Caley will implement here; no idea if Absinthman has talked to Caley about it or if he just did a catch-all spread sheet.

I plan on it. No response yet from Landot about scheduling, though.

Landot and I have exchanged schedules but still don't have a day for certain; Tuesday is a strong possibility though. I assume Landot is out having a good weekend while the rest of us Labor.

So one thing I've learned watching the replays of other teams is that a lot of the team captains are bad at magic. Should be an advantage.
Also, when's the next game?

Our next game is POTENTIALLY tonight at 8pm PST. Landot just responded to me today and we hastily tried to schedule a match, but I've not heard back from Caley yet. That's why I didn't post; still don't know if it's happening. Will let you all know asap.

CONFIRMED. Our game is tonight, in 40 minutes. Sorry for the late notice; communication was spotty, but glad we finally got our game scheduled.

Game 2 - why didn't you cast Punish the Enemy targeting Maze Rusher in response to Runner's Bane which would have activated the Nivix Cyclops making it an illegal target? He would have lost the rusher for sure and then the glider if he'd attacked with it. Then you'd have a 1:1 Nivix Cyclops staredown and our deck is certainly better suited for that scenario. IMO he probably wouldn't have attacked and killed his glider in that circumstance. Game 3 was a blowout, can't do much against a perfect hand, other than possibly mulligan since it was creatureless (probably wouldn't have mattered) but I think game 2 might have swung either way.
September 5, 2013 4:19 p.m.
I also mentioned this to him in the stream comments which he didn't see until after he let it resolve. But in Darkness' defense, Landot had Warped Physique with 5 other cards in hand. So it really didn't matter. The Fluxcharger was gonna be dead anyway and we would take 7 in the air for lethal.
NobodyPicksBulbasaur says... #1
And to be fair, we didn't HAVE to blow up our own Cyclops. We just did it to avoid a weird combat trick / get in for the overkill.
