The Deck that Hard-Casts Emrakul

Legacy 12-post Combo Competitive Eldrazi

Sideboard

This is Alex Khanin's Star City Games Open: Dallas deck that he used to place 9th. I put 1 Moment's Peace in the sideboard for Venser, Shaper Savant and left the rest of the deck as Alex Khanin had it. I made this switch because Venser has a lot of utility, especially with Karakas, whereas Moment's Peace is more situational. Against aggressive decks it does it's job, but I wouldn't want it against Storm, which is already a bad matchup, or Sneak and Show as it does nothing about the annihilator trigger and the game is still over on the next turn or so. Venser can be very powerful, acting a potentially reusable counterspell when you need one or bouncing problematic cards. The deck is designed to maximize the power of Cloudpost, which can tap for 10 mana each with every post in play. Once that point is reached, Eldrazi can be tutored up with Eye of Ugin and then cast that same turn, which should guarantee a win. Pithing Needle is very important, especially turn 1 as it can shut off opposing Wastelands. There are lots of utility lands that are searchable at instant speed with Crop Rotation, which helps against Wasteland decks. This is a very fun deck to pilot and there are many ways to tutor for what you need, Trinket Mage being particularly good since it allows you to search up Sensei's Divining Top, Pithing Needle, or more ramp. Primeval Titan and Sensei's Divining Top are the engines that make this deck so powerful. The titan provides so much value that if it resolves your opponent is often too far behind to be able to catch up. Once several posts are in play the game is almost as good as won. There are very few legitimate answers for a hard cast Emrakul, the Aeons Torn or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre. Show and Tell provides a solid plan B as well when you are unable to keep posts on the table.
