Hi ascanio, thanks for checking out my deck!

Two things are going on that that strategy doesn't work with.

1) Due to the combo being Primal Surge, I have to minimize instants/sorceries. In this case, I have only allowed space for Mystical Tutor.

2) Fog every turn is nice, but it's only a piece of the puzzle. The goal is to make every aspect of the board state infallible, not just combat damage. As far as surviving getting to 10 mana, I may indeed need to add more protection (such as Prophet of Kruphix to Angus every turn or Haze Frog + Deadeye Navigator. These are things I will consider if I am able to tighten up the current cardset required for the desired final board state.

But i don't understand how Primal Surge will work... you play it and play your deck... then how do you win? because if you don't win, you will just deck yourself few turns later right?

ascanio,

The point isn't really setting up an instant win. You can easily do that by adding any number of pre-existing instant-win combos in the game of magic. It's more about the concepts of the deck.

But to answer your question, you can't lose due to Platinum Angel and you can win by manipulating your opponents in any number of ways and attacking them or milling them at any time you see fit. Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre is probably the most straightforward finisher, but since all your stuff is completely invulnerable you could just attack everyone with everything as the most straight forward path to victory.

You can't even play Profit/Loss in those colors...

Hi Edgecrusher, thanks for checking out my deck.

The cards in the maybeboard are not to be played in the deck but to be named with Meddling Mage clones per the deck description.

asidosThanks so much! That means a lot to me. Most people don't "get it", but I know there are still plenty of Johnnys out there!

I really like the deck. I do realize this is not a competitive deck and the goal is not to win outright. However, can't your opponent's win with cards like Felidar Sovereign or Battle of Wits?

Quarion65,
Platinum Angel overrides all those win conditions

Oh yah, oops. I have seen a combo that includes Phyrexian Unlife and Melira, Sylvok Outcast. It could extra protection.

Quarion65
I used to have a ton of redundant items like those mentioned, Dovescape,Platinum Emperion, True Believer, etc. In the end, I opted for tuning it as tightly as possible where any extra card slots would go to ramp, tutors, wraths, so you could play the deck as consistently as possible for a normal EDH game.

Thanks for the feedback!

You know what I want to see? I challenge you, to make a deck that compleatly exploits this decks weaknesses, if any. I want that deck to be able to compleatly WREK this deck. The opposit of this deck if you will.

aholder7 says... #13

i think i may want to take that challenge.
on another note, couldn't you just make infinite meddling mages naming every card in the game of magic (i mean make an arbitrarily large number and say there is one for every card in magic)? then every player has to ask you to flicker (remove) the specific meddler every time they want to play a card. its still done with everything you have already, it just forces every move to be approved by you.

aholder7,
You totally could do that, and that is part of the reason I feel confident in saying this deck is truly invincible once it goes off, because if anything present or future is able to disrupt it, I can merely add a Meddling Mage.

However, with that said, my historical goal of the deck was to provide invincibility with the least amount of disruption to other players as possible. Of course, with cards like Gaddock Teeg and Linvala, that is still pretty darn disruptive. Nontheless, in the spirit of the original goal, I would only clone Meddling Mages for cards I couldn't protect myself from by other means.

As far as the "God" concept of the deck, yes, you could definitely just name every card in magic and approve every spell on a case by case basis. I honestly don't think many players would continue to humor the game at this point anyway, so I've tried to keep the "invincibility" and "godlike manipulation" concepts distinct and separate.

@trollslayer i now realize there are already decks built to destroy this one. Nekusar, the Mindrazer gets around everything. pair it with Kederekt Parasite and maybe Fate Unraveler and you could theoretically kill through the invincibility. the only thing i see that stops that is a sole pithing needle which cant stop all three of those things at once. did i miss something in the deck that can deal with these? for the sake of argument lets assume that they have hexproof by some manner so the answer isnt immediately ulamog smash or dispersing orb. because honestly if you really wanted you could just return all permanents including land so i mean technically that would make you invincible in a way, but that defeats the fun of the deck.

j2los says... #16

Platinum angel. You guys gotta try a lot harder than that!

August 28, 2015 8:39 p.m.

aholder7 says... #17

yes but you could technically say angel to any thing and you cant be beaten. im just trying to list things that get around everything but angel. we already determined if you combo you can return all cards to all hands and make every card unplayable, so i mean you technically have an answer to all scenarios ever once you combo. but im trying to point out things that get around everything else in your deck. if you get every card in your deck minus angel, you could still die to nekusar.

Ruby Medallion with Apocalypse and Boseiju, Who Shelters All

Exiles everything.

November 2, 2015 10:12 p.m.

another505 says... #19

Oops, that is still 4 mana and gaddock could stop it

Need more such as goblin Electromancer , Animar , soul of elements to make Apocalypse cheaper

November 2, 2015 10:15 p.m.

j2los says... #20

another505,

Apocalypse is still 5cmc even if it's made cheaper.

November 2, 2015 10:56 p.m.

aholder7 says... #21

well they could always use a combination of the goblin and Cloud Key and Semblance Anvil. but infinitely many Meddling Mage still stops that.

November 3, 2015 1:27 a.m.

j2los says... #22

CMC of the card is the same, no matter what cost increases or reductions are applied. All Gaddock cares about is what is on the top right of the card.
