Sideboard

Maybeboard

(as a preface, this is a budget deck... check the acquireboard because odds are some of you are going to be like"Gee you don't have snapcaster you suck") Azorius Control designed to consistently prevent your defeat until eventually, you wear out your opponent with Curse of Exhaustion. Supreme Verdict and Dawn Charm work very well together. Say your opponent has reached his win con and is swinging at your for lethal damage you can play Dawn Charm to prevent combat damage and then during your turn after their slight annoyance at delaying your defeat by a turn you can hit them with a Supreme Verdict and take out their entire board of creatures. Elspeth, Sun's Champion is just purely amazing and her +1 helps me maintain board presence. By putting soldier tokens onto the battlefield that grows into a powerful win con after her emblem enters the field. Speaking of powerful win cons, I debated whether or not to put Rise from the Tides or Thing in the Ice   in this deck, after thinking about it I realized that Rise from the Tides gives me a more powerful board presence and I don't really need any more board wipes in this deck. At this point, I control the face of the game with 5+ 2/2 zombie tokens. Detention Sphere is a very strong removal card that we sometimes miss out on when playing azorius control and is a must for this deck. Jace, Memory Adept is my favorite planeswalker of all time besides Jace, the Mind Sculptor and basically helps me get draw power, mill them if I feel like it, or allow me to draw 20 cards to possibly get Elixir of Immortality out, and totally rearrange my hand to what I want it to be. Sphinx's Revelation can serve many purposes, it can keep me from dying if I'm getting low on health, it can give me all the cards I need to get for board control, and can serve as an interrupt because of the fact that it's an instant. Render Silent is one of my favorite counterspells in the entire game. It basically allows me to prevent an opponent from doing anything at all during their turn. This deck is meant to crush the dreams of my opponent with a war of attrition, waiting patiently for my opponent draws out of cards while I maintain control of the board by continuously recycling my spells, drawing large numbers of cards, and milling them with Jace. Curse of Exhaustion is where the fun begins... Once I get one of those out then I can totally dominate my opponent with counterspells and removal. and by then the game is in my hands and I can either mill them with Jace, Memory Adept, swing for lethal with 1/1 humans, or 2/2 zombies and they are basically helpless to stop this. I will say as a preface that I took an incredible amount of inspiration from Ivan Floch's Pro Tour 15 azorius control deck. I first saw his deck and I saw just how smart it was. After seeing this I decided to create a deck with inspiration from that with cards that would make it more powerful in the modern format. Now addressing the sideboard, I wanted to be able to completely change the angle of the deck with my sideboard. I made it where I could create a large amount of soldier tokens in a small amount of time while taking advantage of Azorius Charm's ability to give creatures lifelink.... Say I did get my acqureboard into this deck... The Snapcaster Mages would totally replace the planeswalkers, I know that the planeswalkers don't amount to anything that snapcaster does but since there are few budget cards that actually amount to Snapcaster Mage I thought that adding a few extra elements to the deck itself would help throw the opponent off. The lands in my acqure would replace the entire nonbasic land base and Cryptic Command would most likely replace Dissolve.
