What about Crater's Claws? With all the lands it seems like a good late game to the face.

Assuming this is the deck you mentioned.

I'll give more detailed feedback once we see more spoilers (I'm preventing myself from brewing much until I see the entire card pool), but I think Gaea's Revenge easily fills your two empty sideboard slots. That thing is a house and demands an answer from Control decks. I like Zendikar's Roil, but most control decks should be keeping mana up turn 5 for a counter, and they will counter this spell.

I'll comment more tomorrow.

I personally think your mana base is slim at best. You have 22 lands and 4 are fetches. I also recommend dropping blue or at least slimming down the mana for it. You have 8 sources and only 9 cards that use it and they only use one blue to cast. I love the deck idea though. I have a very similar deck.

Alright, gotta catch up on the comments. Thanks for the input guys!

AngelOfDivinity/ducttapedeckbox- I'm not a control player so thanks for the help. I've added both Zendikar's Roil and Gaea's Revenge to the sideboard.

angelofdivinity- I'll also just keep Crater Elemental in the maybeboard for now until i get more input. and your point on Radiant Flames is valid, removed

sugardaddy- possible but not optimal. It shouldn't be necessary against aggro decks with Retreat to Kazandu, or against other midrange decks since this deck transitions from mid game to late game quite nicely with Omnath, Locus of Mana and Temur Ascendancy (and there's always Retreat to Kazandu for the extra life). Against control decks, it'll just get countered.

-Akhlys-- Yeah, I'm still working on my mana base. I can only test the deck on T/O so its not the most accurate. I did ask rasta_viking for some help so we'll see what he has to say

I'll give it a good look over later today and let you know what I find.

Was using this deck to test against one I was trying to build and holy shit is it fun! One of the games I actually managed to completely empty the library of lands! +1

Yeah. I actually quite like this deck. I'm hoping for more elementals in BfZ but it already runs pretty nicely. Glad you like it

I started an elemental deck too, but went a totally different direction. I thought wow there are a good bit of elementals, but their power isnt that great, but their toughness is! So I went with Assault Formation. Seems good too, I forgot all about Zendikar Incarnate, thanks so much for this deck its refreshing. +1

JKLawson89- Yeah, a quick search on gatherer gave me all the results. Its actually really useful if used properly. I'm glad you like it, and try that +1 again ;) Do you have the deck on T/O? I've been looking at all the elemental deck on T/O to see what other ideas people have, and I haven't seen one using Assault Formation yet

It should be on there Element of Surprise., its really rough drafty for noe, but hey I like to brew on here. im looking into ways of digging for the formation, the best option seems to be Taigam's Scheming. Did you consider Atarka's Command for your build?

great, i'll check it out. and yes i did. there are currently three in the mainboard

Sorry about that, I definitely overlooked the commands.

I built a G/R deck very similar to this deck, my colors were only G/R. I suggest Temur Battle Rage in the deck on guys like Zendikar Incarnate. Nissa is wonderful, so is Whisperwood. Nissa's Pilgrimage did help with land. Crater's Claws should definetly be in there. Won a few games to a late game claw. Titanic Growth with the battle rage did soooo much damage. Essentially you should focus on getting land on the field with any way possible. Love you try and make it Temur though, but I suggest just stick with the Gruul.

atsarge787- they seem like valid suggestions. Do you have a list on here that I can take a look at?

DonkeyPunch says... #15

I would suggest some Shivan Reef and Yavimaya Coast for mana fixing.

I highly recommend running a few Animist's Awakening for stronger ramp and although Whisperwood Elemental is powerful, when you try to ramp for Omnath, he can get in the way.

September 5, 2015 3:05 p.m.

What about Crater's Claws as another finisher

September 6, 2015 8:43 p.m.

tempest says... #18

alright, got access to service again. thanks for all the suggestions!

atsarge787- with the spoilers we got today (see description), I'm pretty set in these colors now. I am considering Crater's Claws as an alternative finisher, but the rest may not find space in the board.

DonkeyPunch- the reason for not running any painlands is to ensure basic land targets for Explosive Vegetation Embodiment of Spring and Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip.

-Akhlys-- I really don't find a need for Animist's Awakening. I have enough ways that are always reliable to find lands. Whisperwood Elemental is getting replaced by the new undergrowth champion (see description)

Awesomenator33- I am considering it now, but I need more input before I make a decision

saturn999- thanks man!

If you do end up running Frost Walker, I would (and am in a build of this concept) run Map the Wastes along side it. It ramps the next turn, and makes him bigger (bolster doesn't specifically target, so walker stays alive.) This way, your opponent is more pressed to use removal on it, and it trades with Siege Rhino, Tasigur, the Golden Fang, and Gurmag Angler

scopesightzx- we'll see. I'm not sure I have the space for Map the Wastes. there's so many better options for ramp. And if i do, i can't play turn 1 Embodiment of Spring and still have the trading capability so meh. thanks for the suggestion though. I didn't even realize that

Chaos111545 says... #21

Frontier Siege may be useful. You can ramp two mana per main phase and play around with casting the actual Lan rampers.

tempest says... #22

Chaos111545- potentially. Its more ramp but less landfall triggers

Let's not forget Whisperwood Elemental

Have you seen Greenward of Murasa?? This guy is going to be a beast!

There are so many options right now that I've stopped making changes. Gonna wait until the entire set is spoiled before I make the final decision
