Not just an Elfball deck (although it still does)

Commander / EDH BG (Golgari) Combo Counters Multiplayer Value Engine

Doombeard1984

So this deck used to be running Karametra, God of Harvests *f-etch* as the commander, but I just love . Hence the change to with Lathril, Blade of the Elves as its commander.

It is your pretty standard Elfball shell, with very much as the support colour, but it does let me have some pretty spicy plays. Bolas's Citadel is just crazy good in this deck, with all the low cost spells, and relatively low number of lands.

So as to be expected, there are some infinite mana combos in here using Umbral Mantle or Temur Sabertooth (who is just a crazy good card), along with just the ability to make arbitrarily large amounts of mana due to untap effects using Dionus, Elvish Archdruid, Quirion Ranger, Staff of Domination (which is also a win con in itself), Wirewood Lodge, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Thousand-Year Elixir. I am sure there are other iterations of large or infinite mana, as have accidently "stumbled" onto these in the past lol.

So once we have mana, we also have our finishers to push this into: - Tyvar, the Pummeler, Staff of Domination, Joraga Warcaller, Genesis Wave, Galadhrim Brigade, Finale of Devastation, Ezuri, Renegade Leader, Elvish Warmaster, and of course Craterhoof Behemoth all give viable finishers for your Elfball on their own.

The great thing with running 2 colours, and Lathril, Blade of the Elves also offers an alternate to your standard Elfball kind of win. I have ability to make token Elves through combat damage from Lathril, as well as other effects through Elvish Warmaster, Imperious Perfect, Tyvar Kell, Elven Ambush and Galadhrim Ambush. combined with things like Seedborn Muse and Awakening can put a real clock on people using Lathril's second ability.

When I first started playing magic, I found out very quickly that deep down, I am just a Timmy who likes beatdown... but have also gained a taste for some combo's. I guess this is the evolution of my MTG life which started all the way back in Scourge (yes, that long ago lol), and when I had a weird love of a card called Defiant Elf. 1/1 with trample was just begging for some buffs, and your Alpha Status and Blanchwood Armor used to make some real big and dangerous trampling creatures. Loved it.

Anyway, let me know what you think, give me any suggestions, and always happy with a cheeky +1.

Thanks
