Maze's End decks are hilarious. 2-2 last night at a monday night magic event. Game 1 got mana screwed both games....only drew 2 gates and mazes end (in my opener) never saw another gate for the next 11 draws....the second game went similar.

round 2 i played against slivers. game one i raced him to mazes end wincon before Thorncaster Sliver beat me out. game 2 i beat him with Crackling Perimeter bc he shocked himself down to 12 with lands.

game 3 i played a wierd B/U/G brew that was trying to be both esper control and something else....needless to say he had no answer both games.

Game 4...turn 4 he dropped a jace adept and milled me for 10. milled both of my elixirs and 2 rakdos guildgate....cant really win at this point so i scoop. game 2 he slaughter games my elixir of immortalitys and mills my wincons again with a single breaking. oh well.

2-2 for a cheap little deck that the meta has forgotten about.

I like this a lot. I have discovered that the Ghost Council is a HUGE pain. One of the "Enders" in my thread suggested Blind Obedience because it negates his swing AND I can extort my life back. Just a thought! Keep up the work Hommie! +1

true. that does seem to be a good solution for him.

to be quite honest though, i havent seen a good deck that has ran ghost daddy in awhile. the shift to devotion decks has really hurt his usefulness and his place in decks i think.

My playtest partner, Slipperypeacock, has a junk reanimator that stars him and the DREADED Ashen Rider. Both are a pin in my butt. However I believe that once the meta solidifies a little more he will become a serious issue again.

maybe so. im going to look at your buddies decklist. i havent seen anything that uses the ashen rider.

well, my reasoning for keeping them was it helps me have the right lands for the verdict....i could perhaps drop them altogether and up the lands the 27 (making the 4 of mazes end), and put an Into the Wilds and that leaves me 1 more open slot for maybe the 4th heroes reunion, freeing up the one of in SB to fit in...something, maybe a 1 of Ratchet Bomb . im going to arrive early at the IQ and play around with both..thank you for the suggestion. ive followed your version last few weeks and i like the direction you have going; especially the Into the Wilds with 28 lands...but my concern is not being able to pick the lands, and many times you are probably siting on that card waiting to drop the sweeper so u can play it while still have the fog security. aggro would really hurt that card i think. gatecreeper doesnt care about eating the removal, as hes done his job when entering. and from aggro or burn, its either him eating the burn spell that would go to my face, or allowing me to save a fog for a turn later by eating the damage from the biggest guy. i dunno. theres so many options to go with for this deck, but all of them require very specific cards and the meta changes too much.

I have never had a color issue. The current build of my deck seems to flow very well. I was afraid of color screw as well when I cut them but 100+ games later I am very pleased with the build. I like your deck. Good luck my man.

Why dont you Urban Evolution ???

December 15, 2013 9:21 p.m.

DjinnjerVitis says... #16

@Alcolitox Sphinx's Revelation is currently better. yes it doesnt accelerate you to wincon a turn earlier...but what it does do it 1-help you survive with lifegain, almost certainly guarantee a fog effect; instant speed. i was skeptical at first, but it was recommended by a friend (an esper player, go figure) and i wont change back. to win with mazes end, you have to trigger the dig effect anyway. Urban Evolution is only good in this if you can't afford Sphinx's Revelation .

This is my opinion anyway.

Sweet deck +1. Could you explain the sideboard to me please?

DjinnjerVitis says... #19

sure. Swan Song and Negate come in against the burn decks ie Skullcrack Rakdos's Return , and Last Breath for Chandra's Pheonix Nightveil Specter Grey Merchant of Asphodel. i board out my sweepers.

AEtherize for midrange decks, and r/g devotion.

Abrupt Decay is very fringe, but it deals with Pithing Needle , ashiok. Nightveil Specter , the exile can lose u games.(probably could easily be replaced)

Fade into Antiquity for erebos, Pithing Needle , Burning Earth . purphoros

Merciless Eviction for when u need more sweepers...probably my most used sb card...does wonders for monoB, and esper...1 swing take out the elspeth and the jace..

each game idenitfy the threats...the actual threats to your wincon, and youll find the SB has the answers.

How does it run?

February 11, 2014 8:35 p.m.

DjinnjerVitis says... #21

runs pretty well...sleeve it up and give it a try. beats out mono blue often, and has a solid game 1 vs mono black...careful sideboarding and knowing how to beat mono black is crucial in this match up. most other games are no prob...phenax decks do well against this, but 3 mb elixirs help game 1, and board in slaughter games, gainsays and revoke existence game 2/3 give us the upper hand.

SpaderAce says... #22

I've been looking at a bunch of fog decks, but I don't have more than 1 kiora. Why is yours better than a different, similar fog mazes end deck?

February 11, 2014 10:41 p.m.

DjinnjerVitis says... #23

its better because it offers many simultaneous threats and answers....the hardest matchup is monoblack devotion games 2 and 3, because of the inclusion of duress on top of the thoughtseize, and bring in of the erebos's. ive been boarding out the elixirs, fated retrib, and aetherize in favor of 2 crackling perimeter, 1 slaughter game, and 2 ratchet bomb. slaughter games for grey merchant, ratchet bomb for pack rat if they go that route, or underworld connections, (4 d-spheres mainboard for either, plus desecration demon) and perimeter can threaten early life loss black decks suffer from the thoughtseizes and shocklands (for those that run it).

@SpaderAce sub in a Jace, Architect of Thought or another Urban Evolution until you can get another Kiora, the Crashing Wave

Running 1 of's of any of the guild gates is a bad idea. If that land gets milled or destroyed, one of your win-cons is gone. Encroaching Wastes is in standard. I guess you are running Elixir of Immortality , but still. An unnecessary risk that doesn't add much benefit. Other than that, this deck looks pretty awesome! +1.

@DjinnjerVitis - I agree about the Jace, Architect of Thought . I wouldn't mind just seeing 2 of them main board anyways. The draw power would help this deck a ton and the damage reduction is always nice. Also, Sphinx's Revelation is a thing.
