This deck has gone through many forms, I feel as this is the easiest to let play out in the current heavy removal low drop format that people are playing. Also, I made this deck mostly for the Maze's End at first. But realistically I made it to just play a Fun and Unique deck.
from turns one to four you allow them to just play whatever as there is almost no way they should be winning in 3 turns.
Turns four to eleven is usually a form of fog or Kiora's +1 or a combination of both of those
Somewhere between turns Seven to fourteen your opponent either has lost their minds with their board position or tried to kill you with monstrously beating you face with Storm-breath Dragons seven cost ability to do your constant hand size of seven. This is where Riot control is your best buddy.
If you are playing mono red removal and direct damage, just ride it out as they run out of steam usually around turn 6 or seven. the most damage I have taken directly has been eighteen by turn Five from direct damage. ALMOST all of mono red players use some form of creature, and nobody is smart enough to run "M'urika" yet, so no worries.
Gruul beats with Xenagos can definately smash your face early with a combo of satyrs(if they are smart and use their only opening on turn four). Or they just get big dudes and blood you to try to go for the kill. your best bet hear is play your divination early(mull till you find one and two land). So you get to your riot control and whelming wave to end their onslaught.
I had a Hypersonic in my sideboard and a Prophet for some fun version of untap craziness to "speed" up the end game.... It seemed too legitamate of a combo for anyone to have any real "FUn" against this, so its out in replacement for the best card printed ever - Elixir of Immortality.
Mill - .... not too much to say against mill.... your essentially F*d if you come across the beat-down version that my room-mate calls "Your Mind is my Puppet". Seriously though, sideboard your elixirs and hope to god they don't play his deck and make you have no hand, take a massive beating and just sit there helpless as he plays with your emotions. Can you tell that I hate it yet?
Aggro - obviously your best counter... just laugh at them gaining position and riot control the blood or monstrous of storm-breath, or even use Kiora to make their storm-breath or big dude useless.
Mirror - Seriously? Who in the right mind would play this deck? sideboard in Medomai and the urban, and the elixirs, and the other Kiora. but then again, they will probably do the same so shake their hand and move on.
Burn - We kinda already discussed this, as there isnt really a Witchbane in standard right now, all you can do is use swan songs to make them pretty darn useless early on... then just wait them to run out of steam... unless they run Zarek Steam, in which case - congratulate them on having a completely awesome Deck and hope for those riot controls, and SB in the Elixirs to get em on the draw.
Answers - heavy counter spell and early beats with a mix of a Skull Crack can Shut you down pretty hard. All in all its a guessing game.
