See my elf deck! I used blue for counter manipulation (Ivy Lane Denizen ) provides alot of that!

t4: you have 58 permanents including Craterhoof Behemoth , which has haste and attacks. Oppnent plays Fog .

t5: 2x Staff of Nin forces you to draw 3 cards. You lose the game.

The probability of death that way is actually very low

Well you don't have to draw all 58 permanents, I usually stop around 10 so I don't mill myself out :P

Soul of the Harvest makes this deck just go insane. T3 him and then watch every elf replace itself.

This is the kind of deck green needs.

Wild Beastmaster seems far better than Ooze Flux here...

I didn't even read what you had in the deck at first, I just hit playtest. Turn 5 Primal Surge. 18 creatures and 5 lands. Very, very nice. You've inspired to me to build my own.

May 27, 2013 12:07 a.m.

I'd like a 3rd Craterhoof Behemoth over Ooze Flux .

I LOVE this deck. It is super fast with attacks and can power out a Primal Surge turn 4. But there are a lot of questionable cards. I don't think you need Yeva, Nature's Herald . It's a good sideboard card for switching gears and becoming an aggro elves deck. Deathrite Shaman is also not needed in this deck because you aren't getting lands in your graveyard. I also don't like Staff of Nin and why is Ooze Flux there? In their place, I would put 4x Avacyn's Pilgrim , 3x Soul of the Harvest and 2x Undetermined Card. I'm going to make a copy of it like I do with all decks I like and +1 from me.

@TheRelentless - Glad I inspired you to make one! :D

@Matsi883 - After play testing this deck several times online, I can tell you Yeva, Nature's Herald is SO useful. Let me explain.

Say you Primal Surge 45 cards on the field, you attack with everything due to the Haste/Vigilance from Akroma's Memorial . Opponent uses Fog , AEtherize , Cyclonic Rift , etc, normally at that point you're screwed right?

Due to Yeva, Nature's Herald 's amazing ability, and hundreds of mana at your disposal. You can literally put all your creatures back on the field before your lose all your mana from the end of phase. You can also add creatures on top of the stack from things like Supreme Verdict . I would recommend keeping creatures in your hand as insurance from this.

Also, with Ivy Lane Denizen , you can trick you opponents when attacking or blocking, by flashing a creature and adding a +1/+1 counter to target attack/blocking creature.

I agree Ooze Flux might be overkill in this deck, but I keep it around as insurance since they spawn at instant speed. I haven't drew it enough to decide it's viability.

Theory is since the Oozes are counted as green creatures, with Ivy Lane Denizen and Gyre Sage , would lead to a lot of Ooze spawns and counters.

I understand. Most of the time here on TappedOut, I hit the playtest button and play against a goldfish. I don't get to see how it's like to play against another deck. Either way, I have put Yeva, Nature's Herald in the sideboard of my version of this deck (One-Land Ramp) because it just takes up space that I have filled with Primordial Hydra s, a better card in Game 1.

Supreme Verdict with ten mana up (before or after Primal Surge ) is devastating. But how do you stop that in green?

May 27, 2013 5:48 p.m.

The issue is that mono-green will always suffer from board wipes, and that there is very little we can do about that. The only option is to splash another color to help us out or not do what we intend to do with decks like these.

against Supreme Verdict i'd play Elixir of Immortality in this deck

you can actually do a great combo with it and Primal Surge as long as you have mana for chaining it

Matsi883 says... #21

I agree. You should make room for 4 Elixir of Immortality .

Another option would be cards with undying. Strangleroot Geist comes to mind, but with the surge you could use something like Howlgeist too.

Also, I desperately need to see someone use Possibility Storm in a Primal Surge deck. If you have 2 surges in the deck it's guaranteed to do the whole library if Possibility Storm is down when you cast it.

That's not to suggest you should splash red, but these aren't my colors so if you like surge you should try it.

@Jp3ngu1nb0y - Chances of drawing Primal Surge right after Primal Surge is pretty low. Even so, you can just cast it again next turn, or if you manage to dig deep enough into your deck, you cast it the same turn from a draw card mechanic.

Oh I'm sure it works fine this way (in fact a friend of mine runs a similar deck). I just thought that it would be interesting as an entirely different deck concept as a fun combo, if you're that kinda Johnny.

Of course, I still think some undying cards would be worth considering to survive wraths. 'Shame Mikaeus, the Unhallowed is black, eh?
