darker: The curve is pretty good so far..never had any problems at all. The CMC was never a concern...also I don't play on a cutthroat cedh meta so this deck functions well as a 75%.

Well, we didn't get an Altar of the Brood upgrade but we did get . . . Burglar Rat.

Can you explain how the oreder of events would go for the Aminatou, the Fateshifter + Felidar Guardian + Oath of Teferi combo if you don't mind.

One flicker for a land/mana rock or a permanent with ETB effect, next flicker for Felidar Guardian. Guardian flickers/resets Aminatou and you get to use Aminatou's planeswalker ability twice more. Rinse and repeat.

Have you consider add Djeru, With Eyes Open? He it protects Aminatou against, for example Marath and can search for Kaya and Venser

How has Venser been working out?

October 2, 2018 10:07 a.m.

Omega505: Djeru doesn't work as well and seemed pretty overcosted for his effect. Honestly not a big fan of it.

darker: Both vensers are great, I have never been disappointed with drawing into either one of them.

I actually built this and have been testing it, (I bought the pre-con's and wanted to justify her somehow) This deck is really well built for sure. After some playtesting I came up short against the new Niv-Mizzet, Parun storm deck a few times. I do think this deck could use an extra recursion card (Though that might be simply because early board wipes really hurt this deck) as does storm in general.

This is by far the most fun I've had playing a deck in a long time. One "recursion" card I use that Enral doesn't is Whip of Erebos. It is a huge get in this deck and the lifelink is no slouch either. Being able to pull out any creature from your yard and flicker it, leaves a brand new copy of the card and thus gets around the exile at end of turn clause on the Whip. I have won many games by pulling out peregrine drake, massacre worm, etc. Give it a try!

What would be the cons of including Vela the Night-Clad in this deck?

October 24, 2018 10:52 p.m.

Enral says... #12

OctoClock: It really doesn't do much other than another win con. It's also 6cmc which is a bad top deck.

Enral Gotcha! Really cool deck. I like to see that people are using the new commander planeswalkers in various ways.

Anecdote of the power of Act of Authority. I almost feel bad for my friend playing Tuvasa the Sunlit enchantress. He couldn't play anything out, as I could take out two of his enchantments each turn by giving him act of authority and blinking it with Aminatou. At first I thought I would prefer instant speed artifact/enchantment removal, but now I further realize the power of a toolbox board state with Aminatou.

I absolutely enjoy ETB/Flicker based decks, and Esper is probably my more favored 3 color combination. I was wanting to build her, but seeing this is about as good as one could probably build her in an optimal way that synergies with Aminatou's abilities.

There are some things that maybe could be tweaked, but very few I would say.

I want to say Profaner of the Dead would be a good inclusion as a sort of pseudo Cyclonic Rift However maybe Profaner would suit a recursion deck better?

This deck looks like a wrecking ball, I'm going to build this someday, too much fun not to!

Counterbalance makes people hesitate a lot xd

Managem I've actually tested Profaner and the main problem I have with it is that it makes me sacrifice a creature. As I don't really build this deck around reanimation, there's not many ways I can consistently abuse it. I think Profaner is better in decks like Muldrotha or Marchesa. Ixidron is a better alternative to Profaner IMHO and it disables commander strategies too.

In my playgroup I've become a target quite often, so I start playing some "rescue" cards. What do you think about Resolute Archangel?

December 8, 2018 3:22 a.m.

Enral says... #19

Omega505: I don't think resolute archangel is a good card tbh. I would be more proactive and tutor for cards like Knight-Captain of Eos or Ixidron in the advent of aggro towards you.

December 8, 2018 11:06 a.m.

Omega505 says... #20

but I have that, but it's not enough. My Knight-Captain of Eos is always targeted by removall, or -1/-1 ability. But Resolute Archangel have another sweet sinergy in this deck. You could play Necropotence, draw 30 cards, and bounce Resolute Archangel.

Omega505: I guess that would make sense if you run Necropotence...do test it out and let me know how it goes!

Managem says... #22

It is high CMC, BUT I think it's worthy of inclusion, the contestant is, Drum roll ........ Azor, the Lawbringer

December 14, 2018 8:45 a.m.

Enral says... #23

Managem: I've tested it before and the problem with it is that it doesn't prevent opponents from interacting with you on your turn. I think Grand Abolisher accomplishes this much better.

December 14, 2018 8:32 p.m.

Managem says... #24

True, as far as Azor goes. I think if one is playing more casually, and there are other spell caster decks at the table, and granted Azor gets through that would be disastrous for them.

You may consider

Scrivener > Salvager of Secrets as it is "less mana intensive"

Or Mnemonic Wall. Better blocker, hits sorcery cards too.
