In an attempt to vanquish the dark lord Sauron and save the West, the brave Fellowship of the Ring embarked on a perilous quest to destroy the one Ring of Power. All of their characters are included in this deck, which defeated many opponents to earn a 2nd place ranking (3-0-1) at the BOTG Game Day Event.

--Mainboard--

Eidolon of Countless Battles is Aragorn, son of Arathorn and heir to the throne of Gondor. Alone, he typically eludes his enemies, but with his friends he is a powerful warrior.

Favored Hoplite is Samwise Gamgee, who started off as a meek civilian, but over the course of his journey grew stronger, eventually defeating the beast Shelob.

Soldier of the Pantheon is Frodo Baggins, who is able to escape multiple factions through use of the ring. However, when caught off guard, he is vulnerable.

Brimaz, King of Oreskos is Gandalf, the mighty white wizard of the Istari who led Minas Tirith's armies to victory against the hordes of Minas Morgul.

Banisher Priest is Boromir, who can slay nigh all of his enemies. However, when he falls into shadow, his evil spirit is released.

Hopeful Eidolon is Legolas, who can turn the tide of battle when he arrives on the scene.

Nyxborn Shieldmate is Gimli, who stands strong against any number of orcs.

Ethereal Armor is Frodo's Mithril coat, which resists many hits before being pierced.

Gift of Orzhova is the Athelas plant, rejuvenating its subject and giving them new strength.

Ordeal of Heliod represents the Three Hunters' journey to find Merry and Pippin, culminating in them meeting Gandalf once more.

Gods Willing is the One Ring, allowing its wielder to slip away from danger temporarily.

Brave the Elements is the grace of the Valar, protecting innocent men.

Blind Obedience is the fierce loyalty of the soldiers of the west to their kings.

--Sideboard--

Precinct Captain is Merry and Pippin, two inseparable friends who convince the Ents to march on Isengard.

Last Breath is the will of men to defeat the east.

Glare of Heresy is Boromir's betrayal of Frodo.

Revoke Existence is the end of Frodo and Sam's quest in destroying the ring.

Path of Bravery is Theoden's glorious charge.

Spear of Heliod is the White Tree of Gondor, inspiring its soldiers to fight harder than ever before.

Rootborn Defenses is the impenetrable defense of Minas Tirith, holding back enemies until the bitter end.

I will post the Game Day results in an update, and FNM results next week. For Gondor!

I had a great time at game day, and won 11 packs (including one with Kiora, the Crashing Wavefoil).

Round 1 was against a typical white weenie deck without the enchantment theme. I won both games with a Favored Hoplite equipped with over ten enchantments. Ethereal Armor and Gods Willing were star players here. 2-0 win.

Round 2 was a Gruul Monsters deck. Going in, I thought that this would be an impossible matchup, but he couldn't outrace my lifegain. Gift of Orzhova was my best card in this match. 2-0 win.

Round 3 was a mirror match against one of my friends. We were playing nearly identical decks. except he was splashing black for Spiteful Returned and Doom Blade among other things. Game 1 he wrecked me, as I was land screwed while he buffed up a Hero of Iroas with Gift of Orzhova and Ethereal Armor. Game 2 I came out of the gates incredibly fast, with a turn two Hopeful Eidolon equipped with two Ethereal Armors. Game three was quite close, but I overran him with creatures and swung for game with a 16/18 Favored Hoplite with flying, first strike, and lifelink. He ended up getting 3rd place. 2-1 win.

Round 4 we agreed to draw, as I was almost sure I wouldn't win. He got first due to better tiebreaks, but I am still happy with the decision because if I had lost, I would have come in 5th.

Overall a great debut from this deck, and I hope to tweak it to make it better. Favored Hoplite, Ethereal Armor, and Gift of Orzhova were my best cards.
