Part of my Figurehead cycle of decks: a set of 6 mono-coloured edh decks, each led by a different figurehead, and each with their own theme to the deck. Check out all of them here: The Figurehead Cycle

This was the last in the cycle, and one of the hardest to decide on a commander for. Well, that's not true. I knew who I wanted as a commander immediately, it just took a long time to convince myself. I didn't want a creature or artifact based deck, since I already have several of those, and I really wanted to make a Burn deck. So, my options were Zada, Hedron Grinder , Ashling the Pilgrim , Heartless Hidetsugu , and Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  . Zada would have been another creature-based deck really, and a friend of mine already had an Ashling deck under construction, so I was left with 'Tsugu and Chandra. I bounced back and forth between them, because Hidetsugu would be better in multiplayer, but in the end I went with my heart and built Chandra.

So, the theme of this deck is Chandra/Burn.

The Commander

Chandra! God I love her, and now she can actually be a commander! Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh   is a pretty cool little creature, that turns into a pretty epic planeswalker, and all you need to do is 3 damage to someone with her. You can fairly easily accomplish this by attacking someone to deal 2 combat damage, playing a red spell to untap her, and then activating her ability to transform her. Just be careful, she's still vulnerable as a planeswalker.

The Deck

Burn. That's about the gist of it. Lots of Chandra-flavoured spells as well, but most of them are burn anyway. There's a couple of ways you can play this deck, depending on the game you're in. You can try to get Chandra out and transformed, get her to her ultimate, and then just burn everyone, using your burn spells to kill creatures and protect her. Or, if she's being targeted a lot, just go straight for face. The benefit of Chandra as a commander is that she's not completely necessary to the deck, she just helps it do what it was already doing.

The Combos

Not many combos in this deck either, but there are a couple.
