Why the hell don't you have Rings of Brighthearth in this deck? Great card for many cards in your deck..AND it's infinite mana with Basalt Monolith .

@xshadowadamx Read the card more closely, and you'll realize why it can't be used at all with Basalt Monolith .

And early game, unless I manage to get more than a few mana rocks on the board or a Voltaic Key , the deck is very much on the defense. Rings of Brighthearth is very limited in what it can do in this deck, and the most I'd see out of it is possibly getting extra draw out of Arcanis the Omnipotent or Mulldrifter .

There's lots of better options that add more synergy for the deck.

Actually Roan you can put on the stack multiple instances of the untap ability on Grim Monolith netting you 1 colorless. You don't copy the production but the untapping. You have to invest 2 mana to kickstart it but it, indeed, works.

Tap Grim Monolith then pay 3 and an additional 2 to untap Grim Monolith and copy the untap with Rings of Brighthearth . This puts 2 untaps on the stack so you let the first one resolve then tap it for 3 then let the other resolve and tap it again. You have netted 1 mana over what you had and are back at square 1.

/endrant LOL!

Fair enough. I was just caught by the "if it isn't a mana ability" clause. Seems like the trigger-work is more than a bit janky though. Untapping, then tapping in response to the Ring trigger.

Still, I don't find it to be my preference to be honest. It seems like it'd be a hassle purely to explain how it's working mid-game. :P

EDIT Basalt Monolith . Grim Monolith wouldn't work as it takes 6 to make 6.

I just look at it as "takes 5 to make 6" lol

Well I do know the Basalt plus the Rings do work. You are paying 5 and getting 6 mana each time. Also the Rings also works on Planeswalkers since you are activating an ability. Doubling Tezzeret's -X ability is a lot more dangerous. The rings also works on all of your "Tap to do 1 damage", for the two extra mana, it turns them into shocks. Another thing the Rings work with is Arcanis the Omnipotent . You can be drawing 6 cards with him. And finally the best thing you can do with the Rings is that if you get

any infinity mana combo in this deck + Rings of Brighthearth + card:Sensei's Divining Top That's infinity Draw. You copy the "Tap draw" ability and you'll draw two cards..one being the Top and the other being your top card.
