Edit 8/24/23:

I’ve learned to pilot the deck and the tempo archetype better and so the game plan has slowed down for the most part, making Cemetery Illuminator more attractive. It also means I’m less likely to tap out and later need Skyclave Apparition. I also need less Lords.

+2 Cemetery Illuminator -2 Skyclave Apparition +1 Empyrean Eagle -3 Patrician Geist

Generally I’ve realized Geistlight Snare is going to be just as good as Lofty Denial except the chance of it costing U is too good to pass up anymore.

+4 Geistlight Snare -1 Spellqueller -1 Rattlechains -1 Lofty Denial

I finally got it through my head that Curious Obsession (and protecting it) is huge to my success. And I need a full playset of it and Spectral Sailor.

+1 Curious Obsession +1 Spectral Sailor +3 Slip Out the Back -1 Watcher of the Spheres -3 Stern Dismissal

Deck has shifted even closer to mono blue.

+1 Port Town +1 Island -2 Plains

January 2023 version and notes:

Adapted my old Modern Spirits for Pioneer! If any choices as far as includes or excludes seem strange, the idea is for every single spell potentially to be cast at instant speed. Watcher of the Spheres and Curious Obsession are the only cards valuable enough to skirt that requirement.

I very much miss my Vapor Snag and Think Twice, but Stern Dismissal and Curious Obsession seem to do the job. I did have Impulse in here and was loving its help in hitting Supreme Phantom, but I’ve taken Impulse out now that I’ve added in newer Lords.

While there are obviously additional enchantments I could play, only Curious Obsession seems worth the slots and so I run Lofty Denial over Geistlight Snare.

Currently playing around with the number of Watcher of the Spheres, Spectral Sailor, Empyrean Eagle, Patrician Geist, and Skyclave Apparition.

Watcher of the Spheres makes me want to put Nebelgast Herald back while Patrician Geist makes me want to put Secrets of the Key back.

I wish I had the room to spare for Katilda, Dawnheart Martyr.
