The Fox and The Pound Down

Commander / EDH RW (Boros)

Koneman

Intro:

The deck revolves around a few main combos (listed below). Your goal is to get out Zirda, the Dawnwaker, an inf. mana piece, and an inf. mana payoff piece. Pretty simple and straightforward. I'd place this decks strength in a lower tier of cEDH, meaning it will not win turn 2-3 normally but has the capability to do so, and is more likely to win turn 4-6.

Combos:

Inf. Mana: Grim Monolith + Zirda, the Dawnwaker or Basalt Monolith + Zirda, the Dawnwaker

Inf. Mill/Draw: Jeska's Will + Underworld Breach + Wheel of Fortune

Big A$$ Creatures: Zirda, the Dawnwaker on field: Inkmoth Nexus + Umbral Mantle or Blinkmoth Nexus + Umbral Mantle

Got most of my combo Ideas from riddik695's deck entitled "cEDH Zirda".

Mana:

This deck runs what I deem to be an average number of lands (30ish), and around 10 other mana cards. The extra mana cards include rocks like Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, & Arcane Signet, as well as non rock mana cards like Jeska's Will, Simian Spirit Guide, & Smothering Tithe, to name a few.

GettingComboPieces:

The best way to get the combo pieces you need is the classic OP tutor Enlightened Tutor, but there are many tutors in this deck that will search for either artifacts (Goblin Engineer, Inventors' Fair, Moonsilver Key, & Oswald Fiddlebender), creatures (Imperial Recruiter & Recruiter of the Guard), as well as equipments (Fighter Class, Godo, Bandit Warlord, Steelshaper's Gift, & Stoneforge Mystic). Your main combos are artifacts, so the artifact tutors are your best bet for winning, followed by your creature tutors which can let you get an artifact tutor. The equipment tutors are mostly for messing around and ideally you'd grab Sunforger so you could search for any of your "control" spells.

Besides tutors, the deck has a number of classic draw cards. A few of these cards are big draws that affect opponents as well (Wheel of Fortune & Winds of Change), so they can be good right after an opponent tutors or does their own big draw and looks happy about it.

LostAComboPiece?:

If you lose a combo piece their are several cards which allow you to play artifacts from the GY. Goblin Welder & Salvage Scout are both creatures that can return artifacts from the GY and are good options for your creature tutors.

ControlCards:

The deck list has several control sections broken down into "Control Repress", "Control Protect", & "Control Destroy/Exile/Return". The "Repress" section has cards that will stop your opponent from doing actions like Deflecting Swat & Silence. The "Protect" section has cards that will protect your commander like Angelsong & Deflecting Palm. The "Destroy/Exile/Return" section, as the name suggests, has cards that will destroy, exile, and return opponents cards like Clear & Swords to Plowshares.

Equipment:

This deck has 3 equipments, Commander's Plate, Hammer of Nazahn, & Sunforger. Sunforger is meant as a way to get your control cards from your deck to hand whenever you need them. The other two are meant as ways to protect your commander.
