As I made a comeback in modern, The Gitrog Monster made an appearance. I really loved that card at first sight and i tried many ways to make a synergy around it. Since abzan are my favorites colors, i could't use Seismic Assault and
Darkmor Salvage
combo or take advantage of the horror type and mix it with Thing in the Ice
.
I've tried at first to make a synergy with Knight of Reliquary, but that wasn't as much useful as it could be. I've tried Worm Harvest, syphon's life and Raven's Crime to make advantage of Life from the Loam when i was running 4 copies, but still wasn't it. I've tried some accelerator like Noble Hierarch and Birds of Paradise but i prefer to disrupt their hands with Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek
Pack Rat is a card that i love to play with Life from the Loam and our little heroes : Lingering Souls, Collective Brutality works also well with those cards. Also, they can live happily in gitrog's swamp. pack rat is on hold at the moment, i find it too slow in the meta, i feel like Tarmogoyf is too important so ive put it in.
Grim Flayer is a card that i love to play, even though it can be hard to activate delirium without Mishra's Bauble, they have to deal with it early on. Before anyone say it, i know Tarmogoyf would be good in this deck. But they are expensive.
We have some good cheap early kills spells like Fatal Push and Path to Exile. Abrupt Decay can be used with the same purpose or kill some Rest in Peace, Liliana, the Last Hope or Liliana of the Veil, some swords or really any permanents 3 CMC or less cards.
Speaking of liliana's, i've tried Liliana of the Veil, as strong as she can be, i'm still not sure i've liked her while she was on board. I'm actually trying Liliana, the Last Hope soon, i'm waiting on the 2nd copy ! In my opinion, she will be more useful that her older version.
Tireless Tracker has a really good synergy, if he isn't removed, he can be pretty big and fill your hand with more fuel.
Siege Rhino is just too good not to be put in the deck.
I'm actually trying Tasigur, the Golden Fang in place of an Inquisition of Kozilek
Vault of the Archangel has made me comeback from many games.
Ghost Quarter is a must have, i'm wondering if i should play 2. Or put in a Tectonic Edge
Gavony Township is a good land, but maybe i should put something else, i still like it better than manlands since they enter tapped.
The sideboard is in progress, i mainly play with friends and we don't really use it.
The maybeboard would be Traverse the Ulvenwald
