Good luck playing all those spells when almost 50% of your land comes in tapped

The only way I see a maze's end deck working in standard would be some kind of shutdown combo like possibility storm/curse of exhaustion. This win condition works a lot better in modern with things like explore, sakura-tribe scout, and amulet of vigor.

I may end up making this into a modern multiple win condition deck then. It was just an idea I was thinking of. I think keeping the bounce back of Species Gorger , Keymaster Rogue and Faerie Impostor is good to keep in there since that would work well for Gatecreeper Vine and Saruli Gatekeepers . Also maybe adding the other gatekeepers may help as well. I want to keep Gateway Shade just because it's a powerful creature with this idea.

Since this a multiple win deck, might as well add Biovisionary and Door to Nothingness as well.

I would recommend ditching the Maze's End strategy. It's a cool thing, but it needs a deck built around it. With that, all your gates. I don't like gates or cluestones, but thats somewhat a personal preference. The Crocanura and Beetleform Mage are also somewhat questionable, but Crocanura is more legit than the mage. The Gatecreeper Vine and bouncing is a great idea, but again for the Maze's End deck, not a simic deck. Maze Glider and Maze Behemoth are good cards in a deck with a lot of multicolored creatures. If you look at yours, the only cards getting those effects would be Master Biomancer , who shouldn't be attacking, he's too precious for that risk. Species Gorger Which could use it, but just 2 of them, Shambleshark , again, only 1, Elusive Krasis which is unblockable as it is and has no use for flying or trample, and Nimbus Swimmer , which already has flying. The Maze creatures are, in my opinion, too pricey for such little use. Only in maybe 1/5 games will you get a Maze creature and a multicolored creature out that can benefit. As a fine replacement I offer Crowned Ceratok and Sapphire Drake .I recommend an overhaul into a Maze deck, with your bounce cards, penta colored, and some control, and the Simic deck. I don't have much experience with Maze decks, but I do have a very effective Green Blue Black +1/+1 counter deck. Gyre Sage is an amazing card, ESPECIALLY paired with nimbus swimmers. I'd put 2 in, I have two from my draft. Fathom Mage Wouldn't hurt as well. I've drawn 9 cards from bio-shifting on multiple occasions. I am very happy to see you got your hands on a Master Biomancer , It was a top pick of mine and I have it as well. I build my whole deck around the Biomancer and Corpsejack Menace Combo. It is terrifying and both are equally terrifying in my deck on their own. I also highly reccomend Give / Take . With a Corpse Jack it's 6 for draw 6, or just 3 for flat out 6 counters. I also would like to point out that bio shifting while a corpse jack is out, I believe, doubles the number of counters. Pay 3, put 6 +1/+1 onto any creature, Bio shift onto Biomancer. Play a Cloudfin Raptor , Which I also HIGHLY recommend (I have 4, they're my babies) and it is suddenly a 24/25 with flying for a mere total 5 mana (9 if you count biomancer). You can see my deck for some inspiration if you wish. These are all suggestions but my deck works pretty well and I believe it's one of the only viable tracks for an evolve deck. I used to have a full hearted Simic deck with only evolve, but I had to change it. Simic is weak on its own, it has a few amazing combos but it needs some stability.

Thank you heyheydashing. I'm actually planning on making an evolve deck espically since i'm altering this deck into modern format and changing most of it. I'll take this into deep consideration when making it.

i think the only way a maze's end deck would work is if u made it turbo fog, with fog and druid's deliverance and clinging mist and urban evolution and only one of each guildgate and creatures like gatecreeper vine and Saruli Gatekeepers. Also you'll need witchbane orb to sideboard game 2 against skull cracks.

I'd throw in a few Birds of Paradise . Your deck will always be one turn behind on mana as all your lands enter the battlefield tapped. A Birds of Paradise on turn 2 will mean that by turn 3 your mana base will be restored to normal.

Greenside Watcher is ok too, but its cost means that your mana will be behind your opponent's for 3 whole turns.

I would look at Door to Nothingness for an extra win con. Also, Scapeshift could be funny as you trade doubled up gates for the ones you need to trigger Maze's End .

Unless I'm missing something, other than Fog Patch there aren't any legacy cards so I would consider replacing it with another Fog . Then you can make this deck modern. I agree that Amulet of Vigor is huge in this deck. Without it you're always a turn behind cause your land comes into play tapped. I think you're going to find that fast aggro decks are going to kill you before you really get any of your gatekeepers in play. You may want to consider some board wipes for the early game such as Supreme Verdict or Terminus or more fog effects.

If you are only going to run 2 of's or 1 of's in your deck I advise you run some sort of card to help ensure you get the cards you want... Since it's mostly creature based I suggest Lead the Stampede . I also know that people above have suggested Amulet of Vigor and I cannot express how well those would work in this deck. I would cut the Greenside Watcher and the Crackling Perimeter for 4 of these amulets. I would also drop the Voidwielder for another Faerie Impostor . Maybe try Sunken Hope (I know it is very slow but... this is for casual use)

Progenitor Mimic for fun with the gatekeepers and Voidwielder

Ruric says... #17

dont you like Roaring Primadox over Species Gorger for the cost? is easier to cast too...

June 18, 2013 12:10 p.m.

I have taken all of your considerations into account. I did add another Faerie Impostor in replace of Voidwielder as well as put in the Amulet of Vigor

I did not realize that Roaring Primadox was out there so I thank Ruric for suggesting that to me.

I would love to put Lead the Stampede , Birds of Paradise , and Progenitor Mimic in this deck but my problem is I want to keep my main board 60 cards. So any suggestions would be amazing.

Do you think this deck would need Serra Ascendant and Diabolic Tutor in it? I mean both cards are nice and would work but now I'm questioning them thanks to suggestions. That would give me four other slots to work with. Let me know what you guys think :-)

I would use elixir of Immortality against mill. A mind funeral is really nasty against this deck.
