I feel like you could replace Colossus of Akros with either Kozilek, Butcher of Truth or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre . I know it strays from the artifact theme and artifact synergy, but I think it'd be worth it to have something hit the board and be massively annoying.

cruinard Yeah I've been considering it. Usually running them means cheating them in, but I guess the Black ramp is probably enough to hard cast them.

not to mention Colossus of Akros has the added benefit of being indestructible.

Praetor's Grasp , best card for EDH monoblack decks, break combos, steal Eldrazi, check your opponent's deck, and of course, screw with Sensei's Divining Top and similar scry stuff.

needs Heartstone . this plusUmbral Mantle plus Paradise Mantle and 2 extra available mana equals clear board and more gold for the coffers.

Heartstone is useless other than for that combo though Embara. I had it in and cut it out.

it also works with Erabos. but even if the slot only does one thing. i feel that thing makes it worth including. to have an easy and repeatable exile board wipe in mono black is nothing to scoff at. with the tutor power in black and your apparent abundance of mana you can dig for any combo piece you want or need.

for sure, but adding that would require me to add more tutors to make it worth while, because odds are I will never actually pull that trick off otherwise, and in that sense, I would pulling away from the rest of the deck to facilitate a non-game winning combo, which is not something I feel comfortable with. don't get me wrong, its a neat trick, but with the artifacts in this deck, if get even a few of them working together it does almost the same thing.

Love the theme. Also, Greed fits perfectly with the gold/greed theme with it's new art.

yup Greed is another one of those good theme cards...idk for sure if its good enough to take a spot in the deck but the draw would be helpful if I can find a spot.

also Maze of Ith if cost is an issue you cand rop Damnation and add Black Sun's Zenith instead. it hits more indistrucatable targets. (my local meta had a lot of artifact stratgies and Darksteel Forge often hits the field very soon.) and takes advantage of the mana gain in this deck

Why are you not bringing Icy Manipulator in the deck?

And perhaps, Demonic Tutor ?

Maze of Ith sits out mostly just because its too expensive for what it does in my opinion.

Lots of interesting cards here, didn't even know about Blinkmoth Urn !

I googled Macar EDH decks to make sure there weren't too many similar ones out there before I published mine, and your's didn't come up :/

Unfortunate that as I refine mine, our lists are looking more and more identical!!

How do you find 34 lands?

May 13, 2014 8:49 p.m.

DarkHero says... #22

Alonzo it hasn't been a problem yet. With all the mana doublers, even if you get stuck on land your apt to end up with more than enough no matter what. And really I find myself mana flooded with 34 land more often than not.

WHyFLy says... #23

I've had the same question as Alonzo. I love this build, plan on making mine somewhat similar to yours with a few changes, but what I am really questioning is 34 lands. Many Commander players are hard on playing 38, but this produces mana like crazy. Would you consider playing 36 lands or just stick to 34?

May 31, 2014 5:20 p.m.

DarkHero says... #24

I would certainly consider it WHyFLy, but really I personally have always low-balled my lands in EDH compared to most people. Almost all of my builds are 33-35 lands and I very rarely get screwed for mana. I find it is a good amount to get the lands you need early, but avoid getting flooded later when you really need something to cast. And even at that like I said I still get flooded with 34 on occasion. But yes as you said, with all the mana production in this deck, I'm more than comfortable at 34. This has been one of my more consistent decks.

I know most people are hard-fast on like 38-42, but that just seems excessive to me. I have a hard enough time cutting down to a 100 card deck with 34. And without the loss of consistency doing so, theres really no reason for me to change my strategy.
