I do like it as a finisher, but assuming the deck curves properly, you should have plenty of damage in before it's needed.
Ah, yes, a good card indeed. Nothing like having a 3/6 Wandering Fumarole.

Excellent list; +1!
I recommend mainboarding your three Radiant Flames (even a fourth if you have it) to prepare for the various aggro-oriented strategies that will appear after the rotation, ensuring you easy matchups and flawless victories. Even against not-so-janky lists.

The Booty Brigade fears no tiny creatures with their tiny power, however mine will practically be immune to the damaging effects of Radiant Flames, so a spot it shall need. Maybe in place of Crater Elemental?

I like your lack of style!
Now then, Im not a big fan of spending a months worth of groceries on a playset of Jace, Id dump his ass. Ive scouted for a replacement 1-drops and found this fungus with chest hair: Moldgraf Scavenger

Magnachron: I forgot to swap out the Jaces. If you don't have a budget for building the deck you use them.

Why not Stormchaser Mage? It's a 3/3 flying hasty that can be pumped!

Well, damn. You know what AssForm deck III was going to make? Abzan stupid stuff.
Assault Formation + Farbog Revenant + Odric, Lunarch Marshal , for Ulamog-sized walls skulking under your kitchen table. With lifelink. XD This is great, and I gotta agree with the other guy - +1 for the great lack of style!

My suggestions for your great post-rotation idea, based on experiences from playing Assault Formation deck since Nyx was still Standard legal ;)
Shape the Sands is too situational to be a 4 of. If you don't have Formation in play, you can end up as a sitting duck with 2 copies of unplayable boost in hand. 2 of is best option, in my opion.
instead of 4x Shape the Sands it's good to have some Formation tutor. Previously I used Satyr Wayfinder, Commune with the Gods or Taigam's Scheming. Now Vessel of Nascency seems quite good for that purpoce as x2
if you're about to run Sidisi's Faithful (I run it in mainboard x4), consider combo with Mirror Mockery - it's insanely good against decks without cheap removal (and now cheap removal is even less likely to occur, especially in first 3-4 rounds when you need time to establish your defence and dig for the Formation if you don't have it).

I'd recommend stuff, but there isn't much to recomend, this deck works awkwardly well

Absolutely adore this, big butts for the win! +1 from me!

Any comments you might provide on the unusual cards or interactions? For example I've never played with Profaner of the Dead, any tips on how/when best to use him? So far I cast it once and exploited a Tide Drifter to return a bunch of zombies the turn before I had lethal. Is that about it?
I'm also curious why none of the comes in tapped uncommon enemy lands available. I've not had significant issues with the mana but they seem like they might work? Did you try them and find them lacking?

One good way to use Profaner of the Dead is as a panic button against a bunch of damage that could be dealt to you as a result of Goldnight Castigator while returning all of your opponents creatures to their hand, but then you can probably swing lethal anyway

okuRaku: basically what STGbacon said about Profaner of the Dead. As for the lands, if they come in tapped I usually want them to do something immediately (like when the Theros temples were in standard, Temple of Epiphany), or later on (the manlands like Lumbering Falls). Wandering Fumarole, for example, is a better choice than Highland Lake: they both enter tapped, but Fumarole can be a creature later on (and on the plus side it can stay a 1/4 if Assault Formation is out).

brokendwarf, thoughts on Glint over Shape the Sands, and Dispel to combat Anguished Unmaking?

Both have their advantages: Shape the Sands is a larger, cheaper buff and reach, which is useful because only Goldnight and Stormchaser fly, and Glint obviously gives hexproof. Dispel, yes it's useful, but only to counter instants. Negate can also stop it along with any other noncreature spell.

Do you think protection of the glass-cannon combo would be better suited than all-in board state advantage? I feel like the extra +2 from Shape the Sands would generally be overkill, and that Dispel's mana cost is much better for combo defense on a low curve. I can see enchantment removal being run, but none of it sorcery-speed.

Awesome deck. What do you think about Fevered Visions to help draw Assault Formation?

Awesome! I built a much worse version of this deck some time ago and totally forgot about it

If I happen to play standard at FNM ever, this will be the one! I have a little advice for the Castigator herself: You can do sidebends or situps, but please dont lose that butt!

I like this deck a lot. good way to get quick games in

Heya.
Like the Vessel to get Assault Formation in your hand. I would also suggest Shape the Sands and Altered Ego - the first is great to push through if you can go wider than them, the second will allow you to copy cards as required to stay in the game - for instance some of the newer angels etc or some of the Eldrazi ramp cards. Its also quite funny making a better Ulamog.

auras like Mantle of Webs though not very fast could save you if you need to work late game. i would definitely put Crater Elemental main board in place of radiant flames as well

I don't think you need World Breaker, it's probably too much for a deck that hits relatively early, plus it's not like a 7-mana 7-7 is breaking it, even with its upside. Go full jank. :P
Or you can throw in Sylvan Advocates, decidedly unjanky, but a great early drop that technically gets better with Assault Formation...
