I'll do some tests with two Angelic Overseers, WonderingSage.

I'm still running some tests so I might be switching some stuff around, nothing major, it's in a very good place right now.

no, definitely not. I've played lots of strangers there. You don't want to join a game that someone has started to play against a specific friend - those are tables that have username titles. Other tables will be called something like "Modern" or "Competitive Standard" or "EDH" - any of those tables are open for strangers to play. If someone has paid the one time $5, they can also add a password to a table so that only their friends can join, but those are not that common. Have you verified your email address and logged in? You should see a main chat board on the left and can join an open table (if there is one) on the right or create a new table yourself (on the right) sometimes, depending on the time of day, it can be hard to get a match going. Other times matches start very quickly. Most users are friendly, but like anywhere, there are jerks, too.

I don't see the tables your talking about. Can I do this on my iPhone?

no, you cannot do it on your iPhone. That would be your problem. You need to be on a computer. it would be really hard to play a game on such a small screen

PierreThePlaneswalker - sounds like the guy you were playing should have had 4xNaturalize in his sideboard! They sound like great games. Always feels good when your deck performs.

March 14, 2015 1:28 a.m.

Oh yeah! If he'd Naturalized some of my Enchantments I would've been in a much worse situation. I have to say adding those removal spells have really effected how I play, I feel much more in control now.

Yeah, it does feel good when the decks work for you. I'm very confident with this deck and I'm ready to get back out there again!

Love the deck love the description love the effort I wish I could give more +1

Thanks a ton for the +1!

I've spent a lot of time with this deck, I'm glad you like it!

Awesome, +1. I love the idea and the way you went into the deck and kinda role played with it. I think everyone should do this to make the game even more fun. That's an excellent win by the way! Elderscale Wurm is one of my least favorite cards to play against as one who is not a fan of removal spells. You have a great side board and this deck seems to work. Cheers

Thanks! When I started making this deck I tried to straddle the line between making a deck that works and not compromising my own back-story and theme. I had a great time making this deck, learned a lot about the lore of Magic actually!

I agree about Elderscale Wurm, I swear we milled out decks for like 30 turns :P

+1'd

gave me an idea: Diplomatic Immunity + Elderscale Wurm = gg

March 30, 2015 9:06 p.m.

Seems like Alpha Authority would be better with Elderscale Wurm since it doesn't mandate blue, gives hexproof instead of shroud, and makes blocking all the damage when it attacks basically impossible, as well as killing it in combat unlikely.

but Alpha Authority can be targetted. Assuming they didn't already counter your Elderscale Wurm, an Azorius hate spell deck could easily burn through that protection.
Diplomatic Immunity has hexproof on its own.

of course this combo isn't for your deck, but your story inspired me

March 30, 2015 10:51 p.m.

Shroud. And that is true and definitely an advantage, but the blocking trickery implemented through Alpha Authority would hopefully let you hit for more faster, and by giving it hexproof instead of shroud you can then buff it further. And eliminates need to run blue.

But yes, point stands. Not for this deck.

March 30, 2015 11:01 p.m.

InDirectX, I understand what you mean. Elderscale Wurm + Diplomatic Immunity sounds like a terrifying combo.

Unless you could somehow force combat you'd probably have to search for an alternative win condition when faced with that.

cards the force a sac would still kill it, provided it was the only creature you controlled on the battlefield. It might be surprising how many decks incorporate sacrifice for that sort of purpose. With Stalker/Bogle decks everywhere, it's a necessity for many decks to have some sort of removal option of that sort of thing.

March 30, 2015 11:58 p.m.

I've never thought of that. I have yet to run a deck with any sort of sacrifice.

amazing deck, awesome description and useful story!! +1 from me.

I would just add 4 Windswept Heath, but if you're on a budget I understand this is a useless advice. However Razorverge Thicket and Stirring Wildwood are something you could think about.

True at the sacrifice. Now if only I could find out a way to save it from sacrifice...

I've done two sacifice subtheme decks myself: Vampires + Anowon, the Ruin Sage and Brion Stoutarm + Martyr's Bond

March 31, 2015 7:25 a.m.

Thanks Zur-En-Arrh!

I'll throw you suggestions onto the Maybeboard, I'll do some tests with it on Cockatrice and such. I've actually considered Windswept Heath before, just never tested it.

I'm not on a budget, this deck is being built rather slowly. I'll buy a few cards here and there when I have the money, not going to drop like a hundred dollars all at once though :P

I already own most of the cards except for the real expensive ones like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Entreat the Angels, Temple Garden and Path to Exile

Trust me Windswept Heath is good, the deck thinning is amazing. Also Scavenging Ooze sideboard can work wonders against Snapcaster Mage decks, as can Wilt-Leaf Liege against Jund and Abzan, if you would like any more advice feel free to ask. Love the deck!

InDirectX, Sigarda, Host of Herons could protect your Elderscale Wurm from sacrifice, another card for that deck could be Platinum Angel.
