Any new updates to the deck?

Nothing recently. I've been working on other decks.

I did want to try adding the new Magus of the Wheel though...

Ender666666: When I first saw Chandra, Flamecaller, I wasn't impressed. But when I actually tried her out, I was proven wrong. She is an absolute BEAST in here!

Have you thought about using Contagion Engine? It can be a board wipe depending on the deck you're playing against. And the proliferate really does wonders for your 'walkers.

How about Mirrorpool? Copying creatures is all I've used it for, and it's been a game changer each time.

See, that's really funny... When I first saw Chandra, Flamecaller I immediately thought of my Daretti deck. Funny how different people have different reactions to cards until their worth get proven once they are tested.

Mirrorpool looks great, I've just neglected to get one or try one. You've tested it out and found it to be useful? I'll make it a point to get and try one.

When it comes to a card like Contagion Engine, it is obviously going to be good in a deck with planeswalkers, but you say it's been really strong as a way to wipe the board for one target opponent? I might try it once again and see how it does this time. What to cut for it though? Any suggestions?

Regarding Mirrorpool, if you are mostly using it to copy creatures, might something like Mirrorworks not be better?

While this is true, with Mirrorpool, you can do it at instant speed at any time, not just when said artifact creature comes into play. You can even do it on your opponent's turn to catch them by surprise.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I'm still a bit on the fence about it, but when it's worked when I used it.

Oh, and if you haven't added it, I strongly suggest adding something like Witchbane Orb or Orbs of Warding in to protect you from being directly targeted, or having your graveyard nuked. They're also amazing protection against Sorin Markov or Mindslaver.

Oh, and last night, Platinum Angel kept me alive against a Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Pestermite death which killed all my opponents.

Ender666666: If you're thinking about utilizing Blood Moon, I'd definitely increase your basic count. I'd consider dropping the following to make room for at least 4 more Mountains:

How about trying out Lightning Greaves over Hammer of Purphoros? I've found that more often than not, only one of my creatures needs haste at any given moment. Cheaper and easier to cast as well.

Other than that, everything else looks solid. Although, I'm still not a fan of Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient, but to each their own. Lol.

I may consider trying out Platinum Angel as a way to prevent myself from losing after everyone has ganged up on me. Lol.

Cool Guerte, thanks for your thoughts. I'm personally ok with not running Blood Moon, at least at the moment, so I'm not too concerned about being "low" on mountains. Mystifying Maze will likely be swapped out for a Maze of Ith as I generally prefer it. I do like the exile effect on it for dealing with nasty token threats, and for its ability to tap for mana.

Lightning Greaves could make sense, I've gone back and forth on it, but do genuinely enjoy the ability to bring many somethings into play and be able to activate abilities immediately or attack immediately. It's a hard call, and I'm not sure if there's a perfect answer.

I am incredibly satisfied with Platinum Angel in here. She's done some really great work for me, actually saving my butt last game when a Kikimite combo went off. She's a blocker in a pinch, and can be searched for with Sanctum of Ugin, or can enable a search for Sandstone Oracle, Pentavus or Myr Battlesphere (or vice versa). I'd definitely suggest adding this shiny wonder to your deck.

One day I hope to get my hands on a Mishra's Workshop. I also wish I hadn't sold my Bazaar of Baghdad last year.

Do you find that you utilize Recoup often in your build?

March 23, 2016 10:36 a.m.

Guerte says... #13

Ender666666: I don't necessarily use Recoup often, but it's there in case I pitch a Sorcery and want to play it at a later time. I don't think it's a necessary component, but it gives me a little peace of mind knowing it's there.

Yeah Guerte, I like the thought of it too, but the way I see it, Codex Shredder can do a similar thing for us, and more than once. It never hurts to have redundancy though, because redundancy never hurts!

I would definitely play Platinum Emperion over Platinum Angel

March 24, 2016 9:39 p.m.

Ender666666 says... #16

You would think that Platinum Emperion would be superior, but I found that he isn't. First, he shuts off my fetch lands because I can no longer pay life. Secondly, in EDH there are far too many ways to lose that do not involve my life total. The Angel prevents every alternate wincon an opponent might use. I can no longer be milled out. Poison doesn't effect me. Etc, etc...

So from testing, Angel is just vastly superior.

abzanforever says... #17

The Problem with Platinum Angel is, that you die with it if your opponent got his win condition. If you got your ten poison counters, your opponents just needs to remove Platinum Angel and your dead. Platinum Emperion just protects me until I got my win condition. But my Playgroup isn't very challenging and I didn't See many other win cons except reducing the life to zero, so Platinum Emperion works very well for me. You got a point with the fetches, I don't play them so I don't have the problem but in your deck it really matters.

Don't get me wrong my friend, both are amazing cards. In my meta, and with this deck and build, Angel is just what works better for me.

Love seeing Daretti get some attention. I'm working on my own: Junkyard Party

I see that you're also a fan of Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient. Have you considered using Strionic Resonator as well? For you, it could help with Kurkesh, as well as Rings of Brighthearth, Tangle Wire, Duplicant, and Myr Battlesphere.

Does Thought Vessel do a lot of work in here? I'm trying to work on my card draw because my hand is never as full as I want it.

Ender666666 says... #20

Hey. Thanks for the comment SmokeyBear15.

I have considered Strionic Resonator, but passed on it as I simply didn't feel it to be as useful for me. The reason being that I requires a which is limiting, and I don't run as many triggered abilities as activated ones. You do bring up a few decent examples of how it could be a benefit though, so I might revisit it sometime.

Thought Vessel is a recent addition, and so a bit untested. I'm counting on it mostly as a mana rock, but no discard is nice.

I'll take a look at your deck when I can :)
