Don't mind me just placing some walls over here.

And here comes a wall of text.

Introduction:

So I am not a very experienced player but playing since FRF I've got my fair deal of wins and looses. That said I've been tinkering with walls (and big butts) since the spoiler of all-mighty Assault Formation. Started with standard deck, then moved onto casual treefolks, fun-modern, commander and lastly the ultra-budget tournaments my friends came up with. The 30$ Wall/Burn hybrid deck I played in there allowed me to win 3 times in a row, twice I didn't even lose a single shuffle. Aaaand... I realised most of the cards are pauper legal. I can confirm that it can give even Tier1 deck players a serious trouble.

Quick strategy walk-trough:

  1. Play lands.

  2. Build Walls.

  3. Block anything that swings on you.

  4. Generate a ton of mana.

  5. Procede to burn them or run them over with eldrazis.

  6. Profit (~Win)

Match-ups examples:

Good:

-Goblins

-Drake Tron

-G Stompy

Neutral:

-Affinity

-Boggles

-UB Delver

Bad:

-Izzet Blitz

-Elves

-UB Teachings

Card explanation:

Manabase:

Do I need to explain it ? :)

13 Forests(because lucky number)

4 Evolving Wilds to grab theim mountains

4 Mountain(Cause: that many slots left in the deck)

Evolving Wilds > Rugged Highlands just to make Traproot Kami bigger.

Walls:

1-Drop

Traproot Kami - a cute little defender that will get big just when you need him facing green stompy or those pesky elves, yes baby it counts ALL the forest. He also curves greatly into mana generation.(Also Reach, depending on meta it can be a god-send since pauper walls tend to lack in that aspect)

Tinder Wall - Best imaginable one drop for this deck, if opponent isnt botheringg us, it can generate double R in case its needed (it really comes in handy more than you would think) also can get rid of something with 2 toughness on block. Again great curve. Remember to sac him for mana only AFTER you tap the big mana generators or Vent Sentinel.

2-Drop

Wall of Roots - Big butt and some fast-mana. Although could be replaced by similar cards like Vine Trellis, it gives a slight advantage in some situations.

Ulvenwald Captive   - newest addition to deck, it's good to have him for 2 reasons. Firstly he has 1 power, it comes in handy to discourage opponent from attacking with small creatures. More importantly he can be a serious beater after transformation if you fail to draw real win-cons.

Overgrown Battlement - main glue of this deck. Ramping mana into high heavens gives you way to play wincons and has magical 4 toughness so it laughs at our old friend Lightning Bolt

3-Drop

Axebane Guardian - Almost the same, butt is smaller - provides mana fixing tho.

4-Drop

Vent Sentinel - tap him in opponents end step, to win in few turns. Also 2/4 is a great blocker. He is second all-star of the deck.

BURN

Kaervek's Torch - nothing feels as good as burning someone for 20 in a single cast. Trust me. There are more similar effects in magic, but making them have 4 open mana to counter this, makes it the best option.

Rolling Thunder - sometimes creatures need to be killed. Dividing the damage is really great and is the main reason I don't use classic Fire Bolt

And the ol' Drazis:

Eldrazi Devastator or Ulamog's Crusher both great and biggest there are. Choose 3 or 4 in any combination you like most and don't worry, they will be easy to cast.

Sideboard:

Ancient Grudge - If you need to PWN some prowling affinity.

Gorilla Shaman - If you REALLY need to PWN some affinity... Stripmine's comic

Flaring Pain - preventing 20 damage to the enemy's face from burn spell is a nightmare. Prepare some flaring pains beforehand, save your dreams.

Natural State - comes in handy, simply that.

Pyroblast - if people near you like blue mana for some reason.

Electrickery - wants better than a board wipe? One sided board wipe. Elves and goblins shall burn.

Hush/Multani's Decree - if SLippery Boggle bothers you. Remember tho that maniacally laughing while opponent is scooping 6+ enchantments is rude. So you shall comence it to the fullest.

Wall of Tanglecord - The fishing wall! (Gurmag Angler) Also blocks Drakes / Delvers for days.

Ranger's Guile - protecting your plants is a sacred duty. Say no to removal spells near your forest.

Respite - if you got to humiliate an aggro deck, go ahead, not judging you. (WIP)

MaybeBoard

Dragon Egg - because some ppl claim deck can't be fun without a dragon.

Vine Trellis - Substitute for Wall of Roots. Now you can crush with walls for only 9.99$! _(Limited time offer, expires after start of deck's dominance in the meta.) (edit 2018: Wall of Roots is cheap AF now, so I think there's no point playing Vine Trellis)

Here it goes! Hope you like it. It may not be most intriguing deck to play ever made, neither the fastest but its for sure quite unexpected and surprisingly consistent (according to may experience).

Game On wall lovers and everyone else !

EDIT 3.II.2018 Coming back after long, long time, still playing walls and loving them! Most things I wrote above still stands but we have new toy - Lead the Stampede, it's perfect addition to the deck and I believe list with its inclusion is best possible wall deck, it's still not tier buster, but fun nontheless.

Also Jaddi Offshoot, god bless Master sets.

EDIT 4.IV.2018 Changed to Tinder Wall main over Traproot Kami, as classic aggro decks seem to be less popular lately, also sideboard is more lead the stampede friendly. Shall see if it stays this way
