This is going to be a great deck to let my kids use for his first FNM deck. Thanks for sharing and taking the time!

Hey, I like your deck. It has many similarities to mine. Check it out, because I have a question for you:

Mono Green (For post rotation!)

So anyway, how do you deal with this? I'm copying and pasting this from my recent deck update:

Mardu Control pretty much crushes this deck in every way. Anger of the Gods kills the mana dorks, Crackling Doom and Hero's Downfall deal with the big creatures and Nissa. And just in case you do manage to get two big creatures or more on the board, don't worry. Elspeth will take care of those. It's not just Mardu Control though. Of course the new version of Esper Control would be an issue too. Or even any deck that runs Anger of the Gods . Forget about the fetch lands thing haha. I would love some suggestions to deal with this. I don't think there's anything to help right now.

I haven't had trouble with any of those decks to be honest. I took this to states today and got 5th overall. This list is extremely solid. 2 of my matches were against esper control, both were won without a hitch. The thing with this deck is that you are so far ahead of your opponent that they never catch up.

+1. That's awesome man. That genuinely makes me happy to read that. I'm guessing Boon Satyr was a HUGE help? I never had any, but I just ordered two of them minutes ago lol. I was playtesting a little and I found ways to sideboard that helped. I'm sure once I get those they'll help a lot. Let's be in touch though. And by the way, how many people entered States? Any idea?

Why are you running 5 fetch lands in a mono greendeck, Is deck thinning that important to you?

October 21, 2014 7:54 p.m.

Drfrozenfire says... #9

I'm glad you asked. A few reasons.

  1. Deck thinning.
  2. Allows me to manipulate how I cast certain cards like Genesis Hydra
  3. Lifegain advantage with Courser of Kruphix
  4. Draw manipulation

Any more than 5 and you die to jeskai decks.

dies to turn 0 win

Truly, a turn 0 win beats this. However, with no turn 0 win in standard, this is the next best thing.

I suggest only 2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx due to the fact it has the same drawback as Polukranos. Its a legendary land. Granted its a great card in your deck, except if you have a starting hand with 2 or 3 of them then you're kinda screwed. Or even if you top deck one with one already in place, its a crappy top deck. You'd probably want either 2 more forests or some more low costing creatures

Drfrozenfire says... #13

you can drop a nykthos to replace a nykthos, adding a bunch of mana, my friend. It makes for more interesting and game-changing play

TKTheKid says... #14

I've often thought about dropping down to 3 Nykthoses, but you can't do it. For all the times you draw 3 of them, you'll be MUCH happier when you draw it when you really need it when you didn't have one in play.

And as Drfrozenfire said, you can play another one during your turn to generate even more absurd amounts of mana for Polukranos or to drop in a gigantic Genesis Hydra.

I disagree, Bassara Tower Archer can't attack through Sylvan Caryatid and dies to Elvish Mystic .

Son-of-Mace says... #17

ive won games because i have had three out and the opponent couldn't Bile Blight it, its a good utility attacker and passive evasive devotion

October 26, 2014 3:51 p.m.

awphutt says... #18

That sort of a game is few and far between, and not at all what sort of a plan you're trying to implement here. You'll play against Sylvan Caryatid a lot, it's unlikely your opponent will play nothing that can block them. They'll lose because you're hitting them with Genesis Hydra s and Polukranos, World Eater s, not because you've got a few 2/1 hexproofs.

October 26, 2014 3:59 p.m.

Son-of-Mace says... #19

ik, the hexproof allows you to have 2 devotion that is pretty much untouchable whereas the centaur is an early game target

October 26, 2014 4:51 p.m.

Drfrozenfire says... #20

I'd rather the centaur be the target then polukranos, elvish mystic, etc

October 27, 2014 9:59 p.m.

Son-of-Mace says... #21

if you have polukranos out, he's gonna be a target anyways, and nobody removes mystics, just try the archer out and see how he works, like i said if you need to getyour devotion up and get the deck online Bassara Tower Archer is your girl, she is also an exxelent chump against nasty tings like t4 stormbreath

I'll give her a try.
