So...again, another deck with probably one of my favorite cards...
Curse of Exhaustion
. this is the hard lock version of this deck. don't let me get the combo down because i win pretty much 100% of the time afterwards. i love standard combos.
so lets start with some reasons why i chose the cards i did.
Disperse: it bounces planeswalkers, artifacts and enchantments aside from the creatures that Vapor Snag and Unsummon so narrowly target. while it proves more useful than not, they normally get sided out for the extra Dissipate and Negates on the sideboard.
AEther Adept: still not sure about this guy...i might want to trade him out for something more useful like Forbidden Alchemy or even
Sturmgeist
. but for now, play testing shows that he has his uses.
Ghost Quarter: this has been a no brainer for me, considering the emergence of Cavern of Souls...not to mention Inkmoth Nexus and Kessig Wolf Run are extremely troublesome for me...since i can't exactly counter them.
Phyrexian Metamorph: is the only way i can deal with Thrun, the Last Troll and
Geist of Saint Traft
without using a DoJ. plus he makes another klnowledge pool,
Sphere of the Suns
, or anything else that i can see as becoming handy in a tight spot.
Treasure Mage: obviously for the Knowledge Pool, and he makes a decent chump blocker.
Snapcaster Mage: good chump blocker as well as the obvious.
Curse of Exhaustion
+ Knowledge Pool = win
so...as you have no doubt have noticed, i lack win conditions...to be honest with you, i normally win off snapcasters, treasure mages, and aether adepts...or whatever i manage to get from you with the knowledge pool. the Knowledge Pool says "both players exile the top three cards from their library", which means whenever i cast a spell, i have your three cards as well as my three cards to choose from. i can win with that. sure, my opponent can choose whatever spell he wants also, but...wait...no...they can't. they get one spell per turn with
Curse of Exhaustion
, and that one spell get's exiled with Knowledge Pool. they may choose to cast another spell exiled with Knowledge Pool...but that was already their one spell per turn.
