I forgot about Form of the Squirrel, but shroud says it can't be targeted. Golgari Charms will not target the card. All creatures will get -1/-1 until end of turn. That has always been my way of messing with my friends hexproof/shroud cypher deck. As for how to stop it with Form of the Squirrel out....I just don't know.

The indestructible aspect of Darksteel Plate helps and if I can get counter-top lock out I might be able to counter the charm with the top card of my deck due to Counterbalance. This deck does have some weaknesses, but it has a decent number of answers too.

What's the use of Ray of Revelation if you can't play spells?

Flashback is not stopped by Form of the Squirrel. You aren't playing the spell (which occurs when it is cast from your hand) but instead cast it from the yard. This deck usually ends up discarding because of Form of the Squirrel so it's easy enough to get the ray into the yard, and it can be cast at instant speed in emergency situations to destroy Form of the Squirrel if the token would die.

I get that this is a causal fun deck, but are we all ignoring the fine print where, you lose the game when the 1/1 squirrel leaves play?. There are plenty of ways to get around hexproof and indestructability.

Did you read the description? Sure there are ways to get around hex proof indestructible, but the deck does have ways to fight back against those answers.

Its tricky but not impossible to get around those protections
anything that doesn't target and produces a remove, exile, or sacrifice effect
mass spread of -1/-1 effects or counters will kill the squirrel
Not saying that the deck isn't fun, amusing and cool
just saying that it does have a fairly open weakness.

drakendark - are you accustomed to playing a build wherein every stratagem that could be launched against it is perfectly answered? if so, please point me to it! it'll be the first deck I've ever netdecked :D

In the event that I can't counter-top to counter something like golgari charm/end hostilities, can't use Mother of Runes to give the token protection from the color of the card trying to kill it, and can't use flashback on Ray of Revelation, then yes I will lose when the token dies. That said I have 3 different ways to protect the squirrel from pending death even with Form of the Squirrel prohibiting me from playing spells.
Potential weaknesses aside though, this deck still gives you the ability to defeat an opponent with only one squirrel, and I can safely say I have never seen another deck that can do this very thing.

Maybe a bit of mill like Tome Scour and Mind Sculpt to mill others.
January 28, 2015 4:26 p.m.
Given that once Form of the Squirrel is out I can't play spells, I don't think running mill spells will work out so well

Using Flashback still counts as casting the spell. So you can't flashback your ray if you have form out.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but Form of the Squirrel does not stop you from casting spells. It only prevents you from playing them, which means it prevents you from casting spells from your hand. I could be wrong, and I know there is no official ruling on this (after all, no card from unhinged has ever seen tournament play), but based on my interpretation of Form of the Squirrel I can cast spells with flashback even with Form of the Squirrel out.

As extra protection, consider Ghostly Prison or Propaganda. Also, I think that Karn Liberated likes that squirrel too.

The Karn Liberated suggestion I like... mostly because he likes the squirrel, just like the rest of us here on tappedout. After all, who doesn't like Mr. Chitters?
However, given that Form of the Squirrel already acts a more effective version of Ghostly Prison/Propaganda, and that I am already hard pressed at times to protect Mr. Chitters, I believe it more important to save space in the deck to protect him rather than my face, which is what both of the aforementioned cards would do.

You could use Pendelhaven or Centaur Garden to avoid global -X/-X effects, and something like Emeria, The Sky Ruin (jamming more dual plains-something lands) to cheat creatures in, the only downside is that it would lower the deck's $2K+ value. After all, when you can't cast spells, lands are the answer.
Other useful lands could be Oasis or Heart of Yavimaya.
Also, I want to be friend with Mr. Chitters.

The Pendelhaven suggestion I like... I think I'll drop the two sideboard Swarmyard's for it...
I'll also drop one Wasteland for Emeria, The Sky Ruin and change the Tropical Island to Savannah to accommodate that change.
February 17, 2015 1:29 p.m.
I'll have to think about that one, because the only thing this deck has left to drop are cantrips, and I'm not sure that I want to be cutting Gitaxian Probe's for Increasing Confusion. On the other hand Increasing Confusion could be very useful to dig for other flashback cards once Form of the Squirrel is out. Again, I'll have to tank on this one.

This deck is a thing of beauty. One question however, why AEther Vial? You have 8 creatures, idk it seems like a 3 wasted slots in your sideboard

Trein It allows you to put creatures into play when the enchantment is active.

Shroud lightning greaves should help with that. Also form of the squirrel prohibits spellcasting so I can't use counter magics.
