PhotogenicParasympathetic: I'll consider it :) I think I'd play Victimize over it, though, since I usually have at least a few tokens sitting around.

What's your combo? I have a deck like that, with 20-card chains of reanimation, if you want to take a look haha.

January 28, 2017 1:46 p.m.

Mine is Phyrexian Altar, Mitotic Slime, Rune-Scarred Demon, Sidisi, Brood Tyrant, -> get infinite mana and infinite tutors through my deck. Then I either get Altar of Dementia and Nezumi Graverobber to mill everyone out, or Melira, Sylvok Outcast and Woodfall Primus to blow up the board, or Gonti, Lord of Luxury to steal everyone else's entire remaining libraries.

What's yours?

January 28, 2017 1:56 p.m.

Whoops, that should be Sidisi, Undead Vizier. Not brood tyrant.

PhotogenicParasympathetic: Mine's in my I Call Her Vera: Sidisi EDH | *PRIMER* deck. It's a very modular combo (lots of interchangeable pieces) but the general thrust is something like:

(with a full graveyard) Victimize into Archaeomancer and Eternal Witness into Songs of the Damned and Yawgmoth's Will into Songs of the Damned (again) into Amulet of Vigor into Splendid Reclamation into cast everything from my entire graveyard onto the battlefield leading to any of my infinite-mill or infinite-damage combos.

The best thing about that combo is that I only need one of the pieces in hand (Victimize). Everything else can be milled into my graveyard.

Janky combos are the best combos. My actual main win-con in that deck is janky too: Altar of Dementia + Sidisi, Brood Tyrant + Selhoff Occultist + Dread (in my library).

Janky combos are the only combos worth running. I like that last one a lot. Try tossing Undead Alchemist in for extra value!

PhotogenicParasympathetic: I'd love your opinion on that deck (I Call Her Vera: Sidisi EDH | *PRIMER*) if you have a chance :)

You need Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth if you are using coffers.

dude Consider contamination friend, I use my yahenni, this more grave titan, or Bitterblossom or other that generates tokens, it is combo if the other player does not play black

shepherdofire: While I definitely understand how good Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is with Cabal Coffers, I'm not adding it for 3 reasons:

1) In mono-black, the improvement is marginal - almost all of my lands are swamps anyway so it rarely adds much.

2) I don't tend to buy $10+ cards unless I have a very good reason.

3) It makes it too easy for my opponents to mana fix, if they're playing black.

kikexgaz: I'm familiar with the card, but I don't run it on principle (I try not to lock people out of their mana sources). That being said, I agree it's a crazy good card, just not one I'm planning to use in this deck. Thanks for the comment anyway though! :)

I may just be missing the Magical Christmas land scenario but can you please explain the combo: Walking Ballista+Yahenni, Undying Partisan+Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and how it can go off turn 3?

I'm Not trying to shoot it down honestly, as a fellow Yahenni player I need to know it works before I try and fib my way through it at a table :)

LittleBlueHero: No worries! I assume you see how the combo itself works - you can remove the counter from Walking Ballista to ping an opponent for one. It's a 1/1 (from Mikaeus) so it doesn't die, but you can sac it to Yahenni, Undying Partisan to "reset" its counter using Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. Rinse and repeat :)

There are two ways to achieve this by T3 that I'm currently aware of (I'm sure there's more somehow). First way:

T1: Swamp, Sol Ring, Walking Ballista set to X=1

T2: Swamp, Yahenni, Undying Partisan, one mana left to Vampiric Tutor for whatever you need.

T3: Lake of the Dead, sac a Swamp, cast Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, win.

OR THE OTHER WAY

T1: Swamp, Sol Ring, Jet Medallion

T2: Swamp, Yahenni, Undying Partisan, Walking Ballista at X=1

T3: Swamp, cast Mikaeus, the Unhallowed

Note that after you have Big Mike out, you can cast Walking Ballista at X=0 and the combo still works.

Happy deckbuilding! I'd love to look over your Yahenni deck :) And you're welcome to give a +1 if you like my deck!

A card that I like with Yahenni is Worldslayer. It will basically reset the game, except you get to keep a massive Yahenni on the field.

Maybe Genesis Chamber for the extra creatures for everyone? and why no lifelink giving effects like Basilisk Collar for the survivability?

January 31, 2017 12:26 p.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #15

xyrithis: That does sound powerful - Worldslayer is silly with indestructible creatures - but I never attack people's lands on principle. So I'm afraid it doesn't fit into my decks.

Daedalus19876 says... #16

smitm901: Honestly, I just find that the lifelink isn't generally relevant, given the frequency of infinite combos in EDH. Whip of Erebos is helpful for offsetting my own life-loss effects, though (and useful beyond that).

I really like this deck. Weird suggestion: Mephidross Vampire. It plays well with the counters theme you've got going, though it's a bit expensive.

ggodo: I'm glad you like the deck! :) You're welcome to leave a +1 if you want.

Mephidross Vampire is an interesting idea! I've considered putting both that and Necropolis Regent in this deck. I haven't found slots yet, though...

It's hard to find room for the big expensive stuff. My wife runs Mephidross in her Olivia Volderen deck, and it does some serious work with her ping ability. Olivia gets big fast.

Ahh, my hands started itching when I saw this deck: it look like so much fun!

Crypt Rats found a place in this deck...that alone warrants a +1 :)

I really like the balanced approach you took, so with some fear that I will unbalance it all, here are some quick suggestions:

  1. Contagion Clasp or its bigger brother Contagion Engine: destroys one of your opponents creatures if your lucky, and multiplies any counters you wish. Perhaps instead of Key to the City, personally I am not such a big fan of that card.

  2. I have to mention her, she fits your deck so good...but I reckon the high cmc is keeping you playing her: Sheoldred, Whispering One, and has nice synergy with your commander. Perhaps instead of Tombstone Stairwell? Since the Tombstone also gives tokes to your opponents, and they might benefit from it.

  3. Burnished Hart: ramp, sacrifice and a creature all rolled into one. If you play multiplayer, I would take out Curse of Shallow Graves, since it benefits your opponents too and could work against you

GobboE: I'm glad you like the deck! I'm also happy I could use Crypt Rats - they're one of my pet cards and I finally found a deck that supports them extremely well. I'm trying to decide which art to use for them, though...And in answer to your questions:

I'm actually running Contagion Engine in my list IRL right now. It's definitely pulling its weight at the moment, and I need to find a slot for it. I do like Key to the City a lot, though...I'll definitely consider this more.

Yeah, Sheoldred, Whispering One is kept out of this list because of the high cost (both in terms of dollars and in terms of mana). I'll add a copy if I can get my hands on one. Tombstone Stairwell is one the key cards in the deck, though - Yahenni easily becomes a 30/30 in a single turn cycle, and it gives me basically unlimited sac fodder: I can profit off of the death triggers better than my opponents can.

I tried Burnished Hart in this list, and it just wasn't a fit, alas. 6 mana to fetch two lands wasn't worth it, especially since I couldn't sacrifice it to Yahenni and still get the lands. Solemn Simulacrum went in that slot instead.

Thanks for the comment! If you have any other thoughts on changes I could make I'd always appreciate them :)

@ Daedalus19876 : You are welcome. Yes, I see how Tombstone Stairwell fits your deck. As you wrote, with Eldrazi Monument, it is very powerful. And you run Consume the Meek to get rid of opponent's tokens.

Oh I really love this deck :)

One last thing, if I may because I am really interested in why you have , and have not, considered certain cards, such as Languish. Additional creature destruction (particularly one that gives -4/-4) weakens your opponents while it strenghtens you. Why have you decided not to run it?

February 2, 2017 3:43 a.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #23

GobboE: To be honest, I've been trying to avoid -X/-X board wipes because they bypass the indestructibility on my commander and granted by Eldrazi Monument. They also fail to kill large creatures, which is a big deal when one of the most scary decks in my meta is an Ezuri deck. Accordingly, the only -X/-X board wipes in the deck are Toxic Deluge (just too good to avoid, and I can "tune" it to miss my commander many times), Decree of Pain's cycling (I have the option to use the full-strength version instead), and Yahenni's Expertise (great value and too much flavor to exclude).

I hope that answers your question about why Languish (and Mutilate) aren't in the deck! :)

Congratulations on a hundred upvotes! I really love what you've done with this deck. I hadn't even heard of Tombstone Stairwell before now, but I'm amazed at how cleanly it fits with the deck's strategy. I would offer a suggestion, but this deck looks pretty much perfect.
