Splashing Red —Feb. 23, 2013

Okay, so I added 2 Blasphemous Act as possible finishers (thanks to Stuffy) and board wipes (that will have no effect on my creatures).

I subbed Dimir Keyrune out for Rakdos Keyrune simply so I could more easily splash red.

I added Syncopate for early game counter magic as I set things up.

I love this deck.

Blasphemous Act +Stuffy Doll = You're Welcome. I think this would also obviate the need for the curse.

I'd cut the Chronomaton to make room for it, and add a Mountain and Rakdos Keyrune or two.

I'd also cut Sign in Blood for Curiosity or Last Thoughts . Look through the other Cipher stuff and see if any makes sense - Cipher has the advantage of not being dispellable and always giving you one free hit.

card:Predator's Gambit on an artifact creature is quite clever. I like it. It does make me wonder if you need all 12 indestructable critters - you could go down to 8. This would also reduce your need for cheap artifacts, and concerns about landing 3 black mana. You could also go with Tricks of the Trade instead.

I don't think Cathedral of War grants you much, especially if you do Blasphemous Act and want to swing with everyone to finish.

This deck's biggest problem is stalling long enough to get one of the dolls on the table. Negate , Unsummon , Sleep , and Crippling Chill are all candidates to buy that time.

I fiddled with this design when I suddenly realized - hey, why give these guys evasion? If these guys hit enemy monsters, it's all upside for us. In fact, lets drop revenge of the hunted and watch things go boom. I'm currently working on a red/green variant - red gets me blasphemous act and green gets me mana acceleration, since otherwise the deck is kind of idle in the early turns. It also gives you kessig wolf run, since by turn 6 you should have a ton of mana on the table. Will post when I have something

I like your suggestions, adding red seems like a great idea. In addition to Blasphemous Act , Magmaquake and Rolling Temblor would be great for wiping the board and hurting the opponent, especially if you have multiple Stuffy Doll out.

As far as evasion goes, especially if I drop Phylactery Lich , the indestructibles on board will be weak, any thing could block all the damage, even if they have trample. Then again, maybe the strategy is to simply stall and do damage with blasphemous act/magmaquake tricks. If that's the case, then green/red is great -- land fetch, fog effects, and big global damage spells.
