This deck is a control deck. You should, at most points in the game, have almost complete control over everyone's manabase. I try not to just wipe every land, because I want my opponents to not hate me, but my philosophy is to play to your color's strengths.

If blue can counter and draw, and green can blow up non-creatures, and black can deal with anything but enchantments, and white... is white, why shouldn't I have some control?

The deck also has inevitability built in. Drop some dudes and the game should be over. Things like Tooth and Claw, Krenko, and Myr Incubator can end the game VERY quickly.

As a neat aside, easily the most fun card in the deck is Rally the Horde. You can either whiff, or just win the game on the spot.

Purphoros has rapidly become one of my favorite decks to play, AND it's inexpensive to build. I hope you enjoy it, too.
