A cleaner and updated version of another one of my decks.
It's called the Junkyard because of it's reliance on zero cost/cheap artifacts that are largely useless or have very little board presence. Using those largely free artifacts to then produce a dangerous board presence via
Cranial Plating
,
Salvage Titan
, and Slag Friend. What little mana the deck produces is used to clear a path for or protect the threats. The deck functions with only 8 land as it has a multitude of other ways of producing mana via Mox Opal,
Springleaf Drum
. and the unexpected Simian Spirit Guide. The nature of the mana base for the deck allows it to run just about any good or useful low cost spell in any color.
Main aim of the deck is to have the splashiest turn 1 possible.
Step 1: Throw down junk.
Step 2: Scrap them all to form a
Salvage Titan
.
Step 3: Give him some friends to play with.
Step 4: Go to town on the opponent.
About this deck-
Important Cards in the deck-
Cards to Test-
All the cards to test will sit in the maybeboard.
Phantasmal Image- Potential for a cheap second titan on turn 1 without needing 3 extra artifacts with the amount of mana the deck can now produce.
Disciple of the Vault- Artifacts will be hitting the yard fairly consistently and a 1 drop that bleeds them for 3-6 health on turn one seems rather nice.
Signal Pest- Could be useful in eking out extra damage earlier to ensure a more consistent turn 3 win.
Vault Skirge
- Much better target for cranial than an ornithopter because of the lifelink.
Lightning Greaves & Swiftfoot Boots- Cheap, easily playable and can protect my threats as well as get them online faster.
Chalice of the Void- Potentially for sideboard. Could act as a catchall net at 1 mana into x to put a stop to the bigname removal like Spell Pierce, Path to Exile, and Hurkyl's Recall.
Welding Jar- Could be good at saving
Salvage Titan
or anything with
Cranial Plating
on it. However, I am not sure how effective it would be as it would be pitched most of the time.
Tormod's Crypt- Some incredibly cheap graveyard hate.
Tested/Removed Cards-
Salvage Slasher
- Was in the deck for a long time and proved to be a heavy hitter but because of it's one toughness he'd just get chumped or burned. Sad to see him go.
Scrapyard Salvo
- Initially in the deck when it was a much slower and casual deck that was able to get more than 3-6 artifacts in the 'yard before the game was over. Simply weaker than Galvanic or Lightning Bolt in this format, also costs much more than I can handle anymore.
Storm Entity
- Intially seemed like a good idea with the number of spells being slung in a turn 1 burst but required two mana which doesn't consistently show up ontop of not always being a significant threat and being a dead draw beyond turn 1.
