Sorry, I don't really know Modern, so you'll have to settle for a +1.

I'm not super big into modern just as of yet but this seems like a really sweet deck idea. I've always been found of dredge in the legacy format and having just a little bit of the recursion seems really awesome indeed. Also knights are just super pro at a lot of things.

ok this may be a stretch but Iona, Shield of Emeria . I know all your stuff is low cmc powerful creature, but Iona is a win con.

@GRUULFTW And how do you plan to get her into play?
July 20, 2014 12:56 p.m.
I would play these things called "lands" until I would have 9, and then take it from my hand and put it onto the playing surface while also tapping said "lands". I thought it would take a genius to know that but I guess I'm wrong. :)

GRUULFTW: I was actually thinking the same thing, except I was going to cut all my lands and replace them with 22x Dark Depths .
In all seriousness though, Hell would probably freeze over before I could reliably get Iona out with this deck. She's a good card, but mostly in EDH.

Pretty sure that the only place that Iona sees modern play is in Gifts. Last time I checked she wasn't played anywhere else.

Iona is a mainstay in Modern Gifts Reanimator and Legacy Dredge sideboards. A 9 CMC, heavy on white at that, is difficult to hardcast.

aeonstoremyliver: Unfortunately, this isn't a hard reanimator deck, so she has no place here.

Extremely cool deck with lots of synergies; I dig it! Very neat take on Junk Tempo.
I may suggest a playset of a mana dork for some early acceleration. I also see you may have a hard time with G/R Tron. Discard becomes your friend then. The undead knight becomes invaluable in that matchup, too. Karn just plain sucks!
Otherwise, groovy.

aeonstoremyliver: I was considering replacing Scavenging Ooze (or maybe sideboarding it) with Noble Hierarch , but I just do -not- have that kinda scratch. The deck is straining my budget limit already. :c
I don't think that a lesser mana dork would be really all that useful- or rather, useful enough to warrant kicking a utility creature.
It may be something to work towards, eventually.
Thanks for the critique, I really appreciate it! .

This is an extremely strong deck! Every card has so much value that you have to deal with it and at the same time you can deal with the graveyard via Scavenging Ooze , you can deal with pesky artifacts via Quasali Pridemage and you can tutor with your Fauna Shaman . I LOVE Cavern of Souls (as you probably already know) and this is a GREAT use for it. Control can be one of the toughest match-ups for a "fair" deck; and they have no answer for your three Caverns.
Truly awesome build. Elspeth, Knight-Errant
is probably the most underplayed walker in the Format (both of her +1 abilities are amazing and in your build her +3/+3 and flying ability is outrageous.) Making a Mirran Crusader
a 6/6 Flying, Doublestrike protection from green and black is about as fast of a clock as you can get :) This is a perfect deck for Elspeth (and she's awesome).
I can't think of anything off the top of my head that is a "glaring" item needed added to the deck. I'll try to think of some cool sideboard options; but you also can't fix what ain't broken! Looks like a great deck! +1 of course (did that a while back)....I'd +2 it if I could :)

CurdBrosBrewingCo: Thank you for your kind words! I have tested this deck extensively, and it has performed extremely well in 85% of the core Modern matchups. It has steamrolled decks even when I've had 2 Fauna Shaman s get instantly nuked, it has bounced back from control even when I never got Haakon, Stromgald Scourge out, and it has used Mirran Crusader to bash the faces in of decks that tried desperately to devote their resources to shutting down my graveyard.
...and that's game one, before I throw in my counters from the sideboard.
I am extremely pleased with this deck, and have already started compiling the decklist- I will in all likelyhood take this to an in-person tournament and assemble it before I do my Alloyed Knights.
This deck can be a little difficult to master, as it's finer points of Fauna Shaman and Haakon, Stromgald Scourge can take some finesse to master, but in my experience in online MTG, it has been worth the effort.

Hey man! This looks great! A lot better than it used to be. I like the inclusion of black. It definitely adds a resilience that this deck loves. Thoughtseize and Abrupt Decay are reasons enough to play black, but adding Liliana and Haakon, Stromgald Scourge just make it over the top for me. something you might think about including, at least in the side is Saffi Eriksdotter for that little extra resilience when you want it. Other wise, I've got nothing. This looks great! +1!

When you play an aggressive deck like this one, it's very hard to maintain a consistent source of cards without something like Dark Confidant . If you try to have it all, your deck will just end up being a mess. I'd say that you should forget about trying to draw more cards, and focus on the resilient two-for-ones and grindy games you can play with cards like Haakon and KotR, where you get lots of two-for-ones anyway and your opponent is often reduced to zero cards with you. I think it's fine to be topdecking when your opponent is as well and you are presenting lots of pressure.

NuBByThuMB Wow, I didn't even know that Saffi Eriksdotter even existed! She's pretty awesome, and seems like a great fit for a G/W hatebear deck. (I'm also surprised that I haven't seen her in Melira Pod lists.)
She'd work pretty darn well here, too, but I think I'd have a hard time finding things to cut for her. The deck as it is, is built in reaction to the previous issues that it had in playtesting (namely, a weakness to Tron- which is why I threw in the Qasali Pridemage ). Still, I'll throw around a few things, and see if she sticks.
In testing, this deck has shown itself to be the very definition of "Tenacious." In particular, Control and Burn have a very hard time dealing with it's midgame, when it either gets all the cards that were nuked early back, or it just cheeses out all it's cards through a combination of AEther Vial and Cavern of Souls .
Qasali Pridemage helps deal with things like a Relic of Progenitus , but I will admit that Rest in Peace screws over the deck pretty hard, as it does all graveyard loving decks. That being said, even in that instance, I still have the Elspeth, Knight-Errant + Mirran Crusader combo to pull, so it has a surprising amount of power, even without it's graveyard.
thispersonisagenius: That's some really good advice. I considered throwing in Phyrexian Arena , and of course, Bob, but the deck as it is now is both extremely focused and extremely versatile. I could probably replace Qasali Pridemage (into the sideboard) for a mainboard of Bob, but while it would make it better, I don't think it'd be near enough to justify the price tag of a playset- besides, my game 1s with this deck currently rock- and I had a guy forfeit a best of three once I let him look at my decklist and sideboard :P

Ah, one more thing: I think you may be playing too many basics, especially when you want to be able to cast Qasali Pridemage and Abrupt Decay as early as possible, as well as Liliana of the Veil and Knight Exemplar as soon as possible. Cutting two basics at a glance going down to one of each basic seems the best to have a better game against Blood Moon which sometimes comes up) to go up to 8 fetchlands makes this a lot easier, and I doubt the extra life loss will actually matter.

GlistenerAgent says... #23
My apologies for double posting. Note that having 8 fetches also powers up Knight of the Reliquary , so making that change benefits the deck in another important way.
I'm not particularly sure what I would cut to add these cards, but one- or two-of Hero of Bladehold or Wilt-Leaf Liege allows you to be more aggressive, a plan that is supplemented by your discard spells taking removal and your own removal killing blockers.

thispersonisagenius: Uuugh, I would love to put more fetches in the deck, but moneeeey. I actually haven't suffered all that much in the land department- I can't really remember any standout games where I had those 'ugh I wish I had x land type' moments. That being said, it would certainly help to have more fetches, obviously, if only to pump KotR. Perhaps when I get the money to do so, I'll bump em' up to 4 each, as they should be.
On the subject of Hero of Bladehold and Wilt-Leaf Liege , I love both those cards. They bring a great amount of explosive power to a deck, even without the Knight attribute.
I'm not really sure what I'd take out to put them in, though :c
I guess the most realistic thing to take out would be Scavenging Ooze , but that nixes a lot of graveyard hate. Although on the other hand, I do have Bojuka Bog ... I'm honestly not sure how to go about this. At the moment, the deck is more grind-ey than explosive, and I wouldn't mind making some slight changes to rectify that.

Soji: True, true. Do you have any other suggestions? I'd love to hear them- I'm trying to make this deck the best it can be. Any critique is welcome =)
