To simplify my findings, in a way that will make sense... This is how the "finishers" have scored so far, out of 10.

I'm still working on some of them.

Spark Trooper -- 8.2

Rubblebelt Raiders -- 7.4

Boros Reckoner -- 6

Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip -- 5.7

Riders of Gavony -- 5.3

Odric, Master Tactician -- 5.3

Archwing Dragon -- ???

Ghor-Clan Rampager -- ???

Hellrider -- ???

sweet, I'm hoping to see Hellrider statistics soon

Vos_Is_Boss says... #3

I predict it will score 9.2 (my own calculations that i will not show to the public)

Archwing Dragon is at about 8.5 on average, surprisingly. However, i still have about 10 more tests to do and it could go down to below Spark Trooper .

One factor is damage potential on turn 4 (a turn slower than desired, but these will just be 3 cards in the deck)

Hellrider swinging w/ no creatures deals -- 4

Hellrider swinging in w/ 3 creatures deals -- 7

Hellrider swinging in w/3 creatures and Silverblade Paladin deals -- 10

Spark Trooper with any amount of creatures deals -- 6

Spark Trooper with Silverblade Paladin deals -- 12

Archwing Dragon with any amount of creatures deals -- 4

Archwing Dragon with Silverblade Paladin deals -- 8

I've narrowed down that a finisher has to have HASTE or an ability to INCREASE THE DAMAGE on everything else on the field.

Only 4 options remain...

Archwing Dragon , Spark Trooper , Hellrider , Ghor-Clan Rampager

I vote for Spark Trooper , it deals more damage and gives you life. You never know when a little more life can make the difference.

Right now, Spark Trooper is in the lead with compatibility.

Archwing Dragon is not better than Spark Trooper

Looks like Ghor-Clan Rampager is next.

I am very interested to read what you come up with in regards to Ghor-Clan Rampager 's effectiveness in this deck. I think that the bloodrush aspect of this card could put this deck over the top. Giving anything trample in this deck is a big plus because it gets the damage through to your opponent still. Then late game giving a double strike creature the +4/+4 and trample could be flat out nasty! I would say that Archwing Dragon this has a spot in the sideboard for you just in case you are up against a control based deck. Of course, if they are playing control with Thragtusk it does not really help all that much :(

Have you actually ever tried Kruin Striker ? It seems really good with Thatcher's Revolt, it's a one-turn trampling Champion of the Parish xD

A Tragic Slip , not Morbid triggered even, can nullify your Spark Trooper . Archwing Dragon sports some evasion...

Blind Obedience too, i know.

I went through all the tests.

Blind Obedience really screws with my win conditions. This is why i believe Ghor-Clan Rampager and Hellrider will score much higher than either Spark Trooper or Archwing Dragon

April 8, 2013 11:52 a.m.

The Ghor-Clan Rampager is a beast man! I dig it! You don't have a means with dealing with Blind Obedience . Naturalize in place of Volcanic Strength in the sideboard would do you well.

Have you tested Thundermaw Hellkite ?

Vos_Is_Boss says... #17

I have considered Thundermaw Hellkite , however, he would be better in a midrange deck than this one. This deck wants to win BEFORE turn 5. Turn 4 at the latest. So, for that reason, I'm opting to not put him in.

And yes, i know i do not have many answers for Blind Obedience , I have tinkered with, used, and taken out War Priest of Thune many many times. I would use him over Naturalize every time. Perhaps i should put him back into the sideboard somehow. I just havn't seen that much Blind Obedience at my store. Everyone and their mothers runs RDW where i play. So i am going to keep Volcanic Strength in. :)

Ray of Revelation in the sideboard? That way if you do go Spark Trooper in the main and see Blind Obedience you have an answer to it (granted that pushes you to a possible turn 5 win, but it would give you added surprise value).

I do like surprise value...

April 8, 2013 1:42 p.m.

I can see why you like the body and utility of the priest, and I agree with Ray of Revelation . It also hoses Curse of Death's Hold as well as had Flashback.

Good point on the Hellkite. Still would be a great late game bomb.

Volcanic Strength makes sense if you have a lot if RDW in your meta.

Ever think about sideboarding Giant Growth to replace Thatcher Revolt if they play Blind Obedience ? Probably not a great option, but something to throw out there.

Weston Ayarza says... #23

For finishers, you should try 1x/2x Angelic Overseer you have tons of humans and she sticks all the time.

April 9, 2013 1:25 a.m.

Vos_Is_Boss says... #24

@PTsmitty, if i ever run across Blind Obedience , i'm probably going to take out some Thatcher Revolt and throw in my Thalia, Guardian of Thraben , and War Priest of Thune .

@Weston Ayarza, I'm very very particular on finishers. She'd probably score a 4 in relation to the other finishers I have studied... mainly because she doesnt have haste, and i don't always have land to drop every single turn (i dont need to), so in the best scenario, i'll need to have drawn 5 land, have a Lightning Mauler that is unpaired, and swing for 5 damage on turn 5.

In a realistic scenario... i'll never be able to cast her, or swing with her in a normal game-span. Because i'll have won already or i'll be so controlled that it wont make a difference. In the case of a 5-drop, Zealous Conscripts is infinitely better in my opinion. Just for the reason of haste, and being able to steal a blocker/beat stick.

Reyalsfeihc says... #25

As someone who lost to RDW last Friday playing Naya Midrange, I can say that Zealous Conscripts is a wonderful finisher T.T. Have you considered running both Hellrider and Zealous Conscripts .
