seems really difficult to pull off a turn 2 win lol

April 17, 2013 1:59 p.m.

but still pretty sweet that there is a possibility now!

It is very very difficult.

You need every single card, and you need to be on the draw.

You will have used 9 cards to complete the combo.

So no mulligans.

BUT!

It is 20 damage on turn 2.

TURN 2 WIN IN STANDARD???? :OOO

Alt text

just kidding... ;) it's pretty interesting how your deck keeps evolving and how it's getting faster and faster... I'm experimenting with the golgari champion and made a mid range deck (Scavenge the shit out of me! - dragon's maze) and now I'm scared of your deck... I think I can't do anything against a turn 2/3 win... o.O I'm watching your deck since you posted it here and if you really managed to raise the turn-3-winning-rate I'm quite impressed! :D

Yeah, there are some neat tricks coming out... decks are going to need to start running Fog to counter the combo-play.

do you ever have a problem with not drawing Champion of the Parish or Boros Elite and then not being able to win by turn 4?

neumannj says... #7

Also have you run into problems against black decks that may run Typhoid Rats or Ultimate Price . My studies on this sort of deck have found that any deck that packs cards like that make this type of deck have a few problems.

Those deathtouch decks are where a Frontline Medic made it's way into sideboard as I've been testing this deck at local FNM.Thalia, Guardian of Thraben made it to mainboard over rancor but that's just my local meta I think. Also I'm not as hellbent on turn 3 win.

I thank you so much for posting this deck and your insight.

Why aren't you using Kessig Wolf Run ?

Snatcharelli says... #10

Kessing wolf run is too mainstream!

@neumannj

The deck consistently wins on turn 4, i would say it is the most common, and most reliable. Winning on turn 5, unfortunately is the second most common, and turn 3 a little less than that. However, this is based on my local fnm (where everyone knows my deck, and sideboards for it), and a few choice local tournaments. When i go out of my local region, I find it rather easy to play against people who are accustomed to the mainstream naya blitz decks... they never expect the Thatcher Revolt and plan to have an extra turn... when they never do >:D

Ultimate Price hurts me a lot. But I never see them in any decks anymore, I see Typhoid Rats even less. People do not run them often because they are not generally good. Even as much as they appear on paper... they only really stop my deck typology... and nobody elses. So the question is... why build a deck to bring to a tournament if it is only good against 1 deck type?

Anyway, first strike or double strike is how i get rid of pesky deathtouch creatures like Vampire Nighthawk or Typhoid Rats

Also, about Kessig Wolf Run , it was in my deck... however... I might be able to give a creature +1/+0? With my mana, i'm not having leftovers to utilize the ability. So i took it out. I get much more of a benefit from Slayers' Stronghold

Well your saying that your having a problem late game if the game gets dragged out. ever though of putting Gavony Township maybe in the sideboard? I know lands aren't generally a sideboard card, but that card could pack a mean punch in this deck. Specially those turns where you go, F*** another land, oh well guess I'll just Gavony all my creatures.

Vos_Is_Boss says... #13

If the game ends up going late... it is most definately not because they also have a lot of creatures and i cannot swing through. I usually have the upper hand, and can outrace other aggro decks.

The main reason games might last longer is if i play against a control deck with spot removal, or they live long enough to use a board wipe like Supreme Verdict because i don't draw what i need.

In this case, Gavony Township would not be a good choice for me... only because i might have 1 maybe 2 creatures on the board at that point in the game. If my creatures were stronger, and could sustain board wipes (i play Golgari Charm or have undying creatures) then i could use Gavony Township to pump my guys even more.

In an aggro deck, you'll rarely have that much mana to spend, and still be winning. I would suggest using Gavony Township in a deck with early spot removal, followed up by tokens generators like Sorin, Lord of Innistrad or Lingering Souls . Even Garruk, Primal Hunter or Garruk Relentless  Flip .

Maybe along those lines... make a JUNK control deck with planeswalkers. That way you can make the game last longer, use Farseek to ramp up the mana to be able to use Gavony Township on more durable... more populative and abundant creatures.

This is what i think, anyway.

As a guy who is also trying to experiment with aggro, and doing a much worse job, I think this deck is absolutely brilliant. I would buy it and play it if I had any budget at all to do things.

Ounce again i call on the mighty Vos on his infinite knowledge of aggro decks and has for help. Lol im running a new deck so if you have time could you look at Corrupted Legion

Best deck I've played on Tapped Out! Played 10 rounds against my ExalteD-Strike last night and went 5-5. Thought about it all night, made two card changes today and played another 10 rounds today and still went 5-5. Great piece of work with this. I read all your posts and I am impressed with the amount of effort you put into it.

Most Boros based decks move quick, but I have figured out how to handle them easily. Not your deck, it is lightning fast and the multitude of combos that arise during play is a work of art. I never did get a T3 win with it, but lots of T4, T5 wins. I think that, based on the speed and effectiveness of your deck, if I can run even with it, there may not be much else to do to my deck. I am satisfied knowing that I am able to compete with a deck of this level. Maybe you can take a look at what I have built and let me know what you think. Nice job, +1 from me.

If you wanted to use Tajic, you could run a Racecourse Fury or 2, depending on how many Tajics you run. Check out my deck, A Superfriendly Walk on Esper. +1

I wanted to thank you for taking a look at my deck.

I just found a Rakdos deck that is using haste and burn to create a type of speed-control deck. It has been slapping my deck around for a couple of days now no matter what changes I make. I took the liberty of playing your deck against it since I couldn't consistently keep up with it, but that wasn't pretty either. I figured you might want to have a look at it for tweaking purposes.

It is another nice piece of work. Whips and Chains Excite Me...
