Shocklands are your friends in any multi-color deck. Godless Shrine , Blood Crypt , and Sacred Foundry will fix the mana for you. To stick with the theme of soldiers, Sunhome Guildmage and Boros Keyrune will help the most. Tragic Slip will help with removal, and Oblivion Ring will drop spot troubles for you.

Also, there're the dual lands from M13. Isolated Chapel , Dragonskull Summit , and Clifftop Retreat .

Your going to want plenty of card draw to stay ahead of your opponent and slow your or "descent".Staff of Nin , better known as Staff of WIN might be a funny way to get ahead. And you will want ways to make sure that your opponents journey is that much more excruciating. Token production will help keep you going. Lingering Souls Sorin, Lord of Innistrad , Gather the Townsfolk . Normally I'd say blue would be a better color splash just beause you get counterspells and Think Twice and stuff like Feeling of Dread and Downpour to screw with the opponent. Maybe even Misthollow Griffin

The only problem with the staff is that it would have to come in after the enchantments since you want those out ASAP.

you just need tokens to sack instead of the staff

The way you were making it sound was to have the Staff out first to get the card advantage over your opponent.

Murder , Ultimate Price , and Dreadbore are also good removal spells to keep out the troublemakers. I'd probably go with Dreadbore over all of them since it destroys planeswalkers too.

You might need some more tokens to sacrifice later in the game. Cards like Gather the Townsfolk , Lingering Souls or Goblin Rally mean several creatures with just one card. Some planeswalkers add tokens too, like Sorin, Lord of Innistrad or Ajani, Caller of the Pride .

But be careful, right now in Standard there is a huge, crazy token hate (Illness in the Ranks , Izzet Staticaster ), so Phantom General is a must-have in a token-heavy deck.

You won't need to sacrifice more than you have if you get Assemble the Legion out before Descent into Madness . You'll end up with 2 tokens. When you play Descent, Assemble has 1 counter on it. Next turn, 2 Assemble and 1 Descent. 3 and 2, 4 and 3, etc.

If it's not standard

My idea of this deck wasn't standard, and the Drover was a massive player in the deck

the keyrunes suck.

April 8, 2013 1:19 p.m.

acbooster says... #16

Any reason as to why you believe that? Just saying something is bad isn't very constructive. What do you suggest he has in place of them?

April 8, 2013 1:29 p.m.

acbooster says... #17

Ok, so you have 10 slots left. I'd say it'd be a safe bet to raise the keyrunes up by one each so they're all 3 ofs. I would definitely run Oblivion Ring , 3 or 4 of them. As for the final slots, Increasing Devotion or Moan of the Unhallowed are good token producers in your color with flashback. I'd probably go with Moan of the Unhallowed first, and have Increasing Devotion sideboarded in case you go up against a longer deck.

here check out this deck list Enchantments

acbooster says... #19

The only problem with that list Schuesseled is that I think he wants to keep it Standard legal.

Schuesseled says... #20

from the forum post he made acbooster

"It doesn't have to be a standard deck, I know it won't work in standard, but surely there is some way to get use out of this card"

April 8, 2013 1:37 p.m.

acbooster says... #21

Ah ok. Though from the suggestions, this could actually have a chance in a standard FNM.

April 8, 2013 1:38 p.m.

Schuesseled says... #22

not a great chance, but i'd love to play against it all the same.

April 8, 2013 1:41 p.m.

acbooster says... #23

Yeah. It might have some trouble with Naya Blitz, but I think it could hold its own against some midrange and control decks.

April 8, 2013 1:43 p.m.

DarkHero says... #24

there are better options in that place than keyrunes. they don't help with mana much and they don't turn into anything that is going to help you very much. personally opinion I guess, but no one uses them as far as i've seen so i assume i'm not alone.

April 8, 2013 2:17 p.m.

acbooster says... #25

I think getting a 1/4 with lifelink and flash for only 2 mana is very nice. As is getting a 3/1 first strike and flash for 2 mana. And of course you're not alone in thinking that the keyrunes aren't very good, but a lot more people use them than you think. You just haven't seen them in your meta or the big tournaments. There're thousands of local metas out there, each with their own configuration of card usage. Some metas use keyrunes heavily (like mine) and other don't use them at all (like yours).
