you know, staff reduction due to budget restrictions...

Ghosty

That makes perfect sense. I wish you the best of luck in all future endeavors, in the hope that your staff may one day find itself untethered by budget restrictions.

Why Bloodstained Mire and not just more mountains? For the land fall cards?

September 11, 2017 5:39 a.m.

Ghosty says... #7

dracoarmy – because it's vital in 3-color deck to get the land you NEED AND WANT at the moment. And usually it's dual land (Sacred Foundry or Stomping Ground in this case), not just a Mountain.

And for Landfall (like Searing Blaze) as well, yes

Note that Bloodstained Mire is a fetch land and doesn't give any mana. Although it's colored in black and read it gives neither nor

I forget that the duel lands you are using count as mountains, so you can grab what ever you need.

Don't look at the competitive/casual bar it's fucked up. Otherwise I like the deck. Potentially switch the Lavamancer for the 4th Rift Bolt, but otherwise it looks good.

at least in the sideboard

Elopsm – I've got 4x Atarka's Commands that also prevents lifegain

But I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for suggestion!

Little bit of a flavor win would be to maybe throw in my all time favorite Naya all-star Tamanoa. Why can't the light burn and heal at the same time? :D

Ghosty says... #15

CallMePeteyTamanoa looks nice but it's more about defensive strategy IMHO

But still thanks for suggestion :)

No problem Ghosty! As a matter of fact, I wouldn't really include Tama either with the way your deck is set up, but I couldn't help but think of her whenever I read your deck title. Great deck, and good luck with it!

Honestly, you made me want to play Modern burn again.

Problem is... it's probably unplayable or really hard to play without the fetches, right?

@Karzalar – there are several problems with playing without fetches:

  1. 3-color deck with 2 splash colors is easily color-screwed if you're not lucky enough. Playing with fetches makes you have any color that you need.
  2. Burn is an archetype that really punishes the player for drawing a land at an inappropriate moment.
    Imagine that an opponent is at 3 life and you have no cards in hand. Your turn begins and you draw land for a turn. That means that you've just given an opponent a free turn.

If you want to play a deck like this without fetches I'd suggest removing and play Boros Burn variation. Cutting Atarka's Command, fetches and Stomping Ground will make slots for more duals and Vexing Devil or Skullcrack in mainboard.

But unfortunately, you'll have to cut Destructive Revelry in sideboard as well. Well, you can still play Disenchant, Fragmentize or Wear / Tear instead.

Hope my answer helped you to decide to return in Modern and pick your dreams' deck :)

Thanks for the tips! That's a very convincing argument you made there.

I'll be working on that. I wish you success for burning your enemies!

I want to ask a similar question. I have a budget mono-R Burn I wanna be WB that i will probably try to upgrade into a Boros list in the future. Should i start replacing creatures with GG and Eidolon/Shrine or should i start from manabase and spells in order to cut Flames of the Blood Hand for Boros Charm and Magma Jet/Shard Volley for Lightning Helix?

Also, is it worth playing Searing Blaze without fetches (so dependant from land drops and at sorcery speed)? If not, can Searing Blood replace it? It misses Baral, Chief of Compliance, Spell Queller and Monastery Swiftspear if prowess is triggered, but it catches other Blaze's targets.

Any other suggestion is more than welcome.

I like burn decks. The first ever deck I played with was also a budget burn/semi-agro deck except it had a splash of blue control. Also how did you get the custom fonts in the description?

@DRACULA150704 – thanks :)

I've uploaded my css files to Dropbox and just add links in deck description

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="https://dl.dropbox.com/s/y72bafanhsnyqvw/tappedout-custom-text-styles.css"/>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Great+Vibes"/>

The last one is for Great Vibes font
